I like the food there and the prices are very attractive. However, communication is really a problem there and I can’t have the simplest question answered without having massive confusion on her part. It’s really frustrating.

Hidden Parking entrance from side street and free parking area for complex. I ordered the Topokki which came with 4 side dishes. Taste and spicy level was just right.

Their Kalgooksoo is the reason I keep coming back. I really like the food… especially the SamKyeTang, but last couple times they said they were out of ginseng and could not be served. This is disappointing because when I crave for a certain dish, that is what I come for… whether it is the noodles or the SamKyeTang. Their service isn’t bad, but for some reason, I get the feel of unpleasantness by the server. I love to feel welcome when I go out to eat… receive good service and feel good at the end of a meal. I just don’t feel that here… I’ve tried ordering to go, but it’s not the same. It’s unfortunate, but I will probably stay away… =(

Authentic. I guess Unilocal wants me to write more. But the first word is all you need to know and appreciate the Noodle House.

The only restaurant I get my Korean chicken soup(SAMGYETANG). No one comes close to it.

I am so impressed by Myung Dong Noodle House! I may not be Korean, but I know authentic Korean food when I see it(aka the menu was entirely Korean with English descriptions) and we were the only customers that didn’t speak Korean. When you come, you definitely have to get the handmade noodles(section two of the menu). If you’re not a white noodle person, try the Yuk Gae Jang, which is basically beef noodle soup with glass noodles and rice on the side. Most of all, the food was super affordable and we still had leftovers after the meal.

after waking up feeling kinda feverish and coughed up something toxic green i knew it was time to get some korean chicken soup, aka sam gye tang($ 15). as myung dong was a proximity pick, just a block away from my apt, i didnt have high expectations, but i think they do a really solid version here. the chicken wasnt as big as u might usually see, but the dish was cooked expertly and tasted like real chicken. i can tell from the quality of the banchan that there’s some pro grandma working back of house, or they source banchan from a pretty legit source. everything had that snap that i consider essential to top tier korean food. crisp, clean, perfectly textured. if u aren’t korean u might favor a more sceney place or cheap place. imo myung dong keepin it real to korean palette. lack of 5th star only because i reserve those for my favorite of favorite ‘ratatouille’ moments in ktla. also, service very friendly and unassuming little lot off wilshire and normandie is the closest to ‘quaint’ that ktown has to offer.

After a night of drinking, all we wanted were some good soup and noodles. This place is in a very unassuming plaza off of Wilshire. It has a very mom and pop feel with a lot of older diners. I got their Kimchi Jjigae and my boyfriend got the Chicken Kalguksu. Both were decent and had good portions as well. I liked how the jjigae came with a generous amount of pork slices in it which were really tasty. Prices are decent, both of our dishes were $ 7 – 8. Side dishes aren’t that good here. Service isn’t great, but I learn to never have any expectations when I go to Asian restaurants. Overall a solid lunch spot– wouldn’t rush back here or anything though. They also do delivery!

Wow, ok. So I am Korean. I’ve been to Korea. I eat a lot of Korean food. I especially like noodles. We have a bunch of noodle dishes that I like to think of as «world class» and then we have a few that are«working class». You’ll probably recognize the ja ja myun«black bean noodles» from K dramas or from the local Chinese Noodle Houses. Traditionally, whenever you move into a new place in Korea, you have ja ja myun. It’s delivered, it’s cheap, and oh so tasty. You also get ja ja myun, just for whenever the heck you feel like it. It’s that reliable cheap and tasty dish that fills up your belly and comforts you like nothing else can, besides momma or a hot cup of tea and cookies, hot chocolate and whatever. MMmmm mmmmmm good, like soup can be, anyway, you get the drift. SO, ja ja myun is where I“m going with this. Chan Chee Noodles are like higher class party noodles, that’s the literal translation. They are for like parties, or social get togethers and functions where pretty food might be more apropos. Now here’s the kicker. They have neither here! I just want to set the stage for your expectations. If you haven’t ever been here, that’s why you’re reading this. If you have, you’re dumb for reading this to see what to get. They have really great kal gook soo. Which is freshly made noodles cut by knife. More literal translations. yeah. Fooled you. Also, their bibimbap is ok, and so on and so forth. Find your own fave for crying out loud. I’m here to help the NOOBS. Get your butt into this joint and take it all in. The valet is $ 2. Cheap for the area, but you really can find a spot somewhere if you try. Even park at the grocery store across the street if you want. Just make sure you get some soup based dish, some kal gook soo, something for an app to share. oh, yeah, be sure to come as a group. It’s just better. Trust me. No dates, unless you want to look like a cheapo. Or just be yourself and don’t care? sure! Date away here! It’s risky unless you really got a good date partner. THey’re sure to be impressed with your down home goodness, qualities. AKA Cheap dateness. LOL

I came here by accident one time when I was sick, when I was looking for Myung Dong Kyoja. The photos on this Unilocal account are misleading because it seems people posted to the wrong restaurant. Overall the food was not bad, not great…

This place is worth visiting at least once. I love the variety of their menu. My husband’s Sam Gye Tang was actually very good. It’s not as bland like some other places. It had the perfect texture(not too brothy or too thick) and the chicken was very tender with full of flavors. Kimchi stew was a bit salty but that’s understandable. I gave 3 stars because this place is seriously missing some basic stuff. 1. No napkins on the table. I had to ask for extra napkins and the waitress only gave me 1 when there are apparently 2 people at the table sweating over hot meals. 2. No water refill until I had to call several times. I don’t remember if anyone ever came over to our table to ask about food or water. Lacks some basic customer service. 3. Although there was only 2 other tables and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all, nobody acknowledged us as we were leaving. A «bye» or «thank you» would’ve been nice. 4. The check. They handwrite the check which is fine since the menu and the price is on the table. And I’m not trying to be picky but it felt kind of weird that the handwritten total also included the tax. It’s like«pay whatever I wrote down. Believe me. I calculated the sales tax right»

I enjoyed the food at this place. We had pretty good soup and a fish cake dish. It was a really good deal for the amount of food we had. We had three dishes and it was $ 12 a person. Great hangover food.

It’s small places like this that make K-town special. Not to be confused with Myungdong Kyoja, this noodle house’s star dish is ironically not noodles… Their samgyetang is definitely the star! My chicken is always cooked so perfectly. It’s also great when you’re feeling a little under the weather. Their side dishes are also fresh and seasoned to perfection! As a girl that grew up with homemade kimchi, I definitely give their kimchi my stamp of approval. Their noodles are still amazing as well! It’s not in a particularly busy shopping area so parking should be relatively easy!

Came in here for a Friday night dinner since the last time we came by on New Year’s Day, they were closed. Odd right? You’d figure they’d open to cater to all the Asian peeps who are out and about taking advantage of a midweek day off. But I digress. The restaurant is definitely a hole in the wall, a bit off of the ‘main’ Ktown and the menu is limited but the food here is great. I bookmarked this place after reading all the rave reviews for their kalguksoo. The reviews were dead on. The noodles were amazing. A bit on the chewy side which allows the noodles to sit in the piping hot broth without getting soggy. Oh, and piping hot is not an exaggeration. 15 mins into the meal, and you can still see the steam rise from the broth. Let’s hope that lady who sued McDonald’s doesn’t find out about this place. The GF ordered a kalguksoo chicken and I ordered the anchovy but when she brought out the bowl, I see dumplings instead. Either way, it was still delicious. Unfortunately, not all was rosy. We had ordered a #26 — sliced rice cake + fish cake in hot sauce. I wasn’t a fan of the fish cake and you’d expect the sauce to be ‘spicy’ but it wasn’t. Just red. Still a fantastic noodle joint. Oh, the service might be a little slow since there was only one server there on the friday night that we came in. But you’ll notice that this place was packed with Koreans. Yay for authentic food !!!

My cousin and I drove in circles in K-Town traffic on a weekday evening trying to find this place. Even pulled into a parking lot to stop and read Unilocal reviews for some help. We went so far as to call the place and ask. «Corner of Normandie». .Ok, that’s helpful. So, we drove around again, going north of Wilshire just to come back to the exact parking lot we had previously pulled into. Lol. We had kalbi tang, kimchi sujebi and the mandu. The mandu was great and the wrapping wasn’t thick and gummy like I’ve had at other restaurants. No, it was thin so I could taste more of the filling. The other dishes we ordered weren’t that great in comparison, but if we ever come back, I’ll try the kal guk su. Service was very good even though we’re not Korean.
