So, I lived in Boston for 2.5 years and sorta just moved back to the west coast, originally from San Diego. Boston’s idea of good Mexican food was Chipotle. ¡Ay, bien gringo! I was excited to try this place cause of carne asada fries, which is definitely more of a San Diego thing. Anyways, pretty disappointing. I dunno. Crappy fries that were burnt from being under the burner to melt the cheese. Way too much cheese. Then the carne itself was soooo dry. No flavor. Then literally a little bit of sour cream and guac on top. No no no. No pico? No frijoles? No cotija cheese? Sooo plain. I’ve had better faux-carne asada fries in Greensboro, North Carolina. No lo recomiendo aunque las camareras son muy amables. La carne estaba bien seca sin sazón sin sabor. Todo cuesta un poquito más que un restaurante típico de comida mexicana. Creo que este lugar es para los gringos.

Ok so i am giving a 3 stars… I will start with the positives… I came here about a year and it was GREAT… I stopped by today because my husband was craving the ceviche he LOVED the last time… well there was no ceviche the young lady stated no seafood at all… i asked why she stated they only served seafood up until a certain time… mind you it is 4 pm on a Saturday… i asked what time do they stopped she stated«i don’t know that just what they told me from the kitchen… We then ordered the carnitas plate… carnitas burned…1 of the young ladies working there was on here break on her cell on speaker cursing… while the other young lady delivered the food stopping by that table and joining conversation… the place was clean fast with decent prices… but the Aqua fresca sandia was AMAZING !!

My whole family loves My Taco! Their food is so good. We would eat there once a week if we could afford it. These are issues for me though, and I really hope that the management takes them seriously. 1. The prices were high enough. I noticed that recently, the prices went up. 2. The new, young ladies that have been hired to run the front need some SERIOUS training on customer service. They are very obvious about wanting to close on time and lack patience with simple customer requests. This includes, eyerolls, huffs, and lack of eye contact. They mop and handle food at the same time and that is not ok. Please stay the quality establishment that we love in our community.

I was first introduced to My Taco last year in September. The barbacoa is definitely a must try at some point. Can’t go wrong with the nachos or tacos either. The agua frescas are delicious, Jamaica for me and piña when they have it.

I really really wanted to give 5 stars, but the quality isn’t what it used to be. My daughter loves the barbacoa and so did I, but it’s not as good as it once was. Too many fatty pieces or slivers of bone. Horchata, we love it! And grateful for the free refill. Service is spotty. It’s always way better when the owner is around. I hope it changes for the better and I can review it again for the 5.

Have been a fan of MYTACO for several years living just around the corner — enjoyed the menu, the setting, and the location, made this place perfect for us. I have always enjoyed the food — a little different than other Mexican restaurants. However, they changed the menu. The same items however, they have added toppings and other items on the food that wasn’t there before — making it, for a gringo like me, off tasting. Putting a disgusting«mole» on most everything changed everything. I don’t like mole, it was never on the items I ordered in the past, so if this is the new way they are going to prepare an already perfect menu — than that turns me off. Sorry — but that’s the way it is for me!

This place was epic. I’m sad that I don’t live locally, otherwise this would be my go to spot for Mexican. I knew I found an authentic joint when I walked in and everyone’s speaking Spanish and they’re all mostly regulars Their horchata is bomb. Their food is tasty and prepared right. I paid extra for a side of guac, but it’s worth it. Their guac is tasty and they give you a decent portion for the price. Totally worth stopping by for a bite. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend to others.

The place is clean and nicely decorated. The fries were good and not greasy. Very satisfying.

After the amusing reviews I’ve read, I can definitely see that I’m not alone. Speaking with experience in food and customer service, the front of house/cashier, need to understand that they can’t treat people like crap and expect everything to be fine and dandy. An older woman took my order, I ordered a large horchata, and they put it in a medium cup, so I brought it to her attention. Instead of fixing the mistake, she replied in spanish. «Yeah yeah, I could give you a little slap for free if you want?» Not only did I leave with a medium drink, when I paid for a large, but I was insulted, and the cashier did not care whatsoever. If you dare, stop by and see how dreadful ordering here can be, and by the way, the food isn’t all that great either.

It would be 4 stars if the service was not so shitty. And the wait. Every Time I come here, there is some strange reason for not serving the customers. The employees look annoyed when they are busy? I’m really confused by the way they act. It obviously comes from the owner/matriarch of this restaurant. She has argued with me that you cannot make enchiladas with carne Asada. And she refused to put cheese on the meat of my tacos. She insists that cheese can only be on top of the lettuce. I guess it’s my fault for assuming the name«My Taco» meant me, myself, I. It clearly means her taco. Maybe next time I’ll bet her a $ 100 dollars that I can make a carne Asada enchilada. See how she reacts to that. The sad part is because we are in highland park and tripas is on so many menus… No one ever has it. My taco has excellent food and great tripas tacos and their el pastor is great too! the birria is their speciality which is also very good! But I’m not sure if it’s worth the attitude one has to endure for tacos…

Well here we are again lol! This place got better with the food. However they always seem to lack on the condiments. For example, i ordered a 4 taquito platter with no lettuce, no tomatoes and no guacamole. The lady asked me if cheese and sour cream were ok. I said yes please, and when i get my food to go and come home i see the plate of food with no cheese and hardly any sour cream. In all honesty, mom’s Tamales is a lot better when it comes to this specific dish and they don’t go stingy with the sprinkled cheese and sour cream. Very disappointed. I guess the only good dish they have is the Carne Asada Fries.

It’s amazing, isn’t it? We live in the virtual heart of Mexican and Central American culture in respect to the United States of America, and yet, there are«Mexican» restaurants like this one, that are allowed to actually call themselves«Mexican» restaurants. It should be illegal. This isn’t Mexican food just because it has beans, rice, cheese and meat. So much meat. Do people really want that much meat? This isn’t Mexican food. Mexican food is boisterous and flavorful, full of hidden gems for the palette, steeped in culture and tradition, a meaningful meal, on a small plate, piled high with years of fighting off empires and redeeming their best qualities. This isn’t Mexican food. A sloppy, gigantic burrito, lacking flavor and finesse isn’t Mexican food. Honestly, a burrito on its own isn’t even Mexican food. «Nachos», as in, chips from a bag, and bland ingredients, with an ice cream scoop of guacamole, certainly within my lifetime, will never — I repeat, NEVER — be considered Mexican food. If I lived in the Whitest suburb of Minnesota or Montana, or Idaho, MAYBE — and it’s a definite maybe, not a for sure — this could be considered Mexican food. I’ve had the lamb, and the beef, I’ve had vegetarian dishes, pork and chicken. Nothing was more than mediocre. This is, perhaps a case of simple mislabeling and misidentification. If they changed their name to a more understandable, «Cheap, American Knock off, with lame tortillas and bland meat, along with boring sides and nothing special to bring to the table, besides a bar of salsas and way too much meat» then I wouldn’t have an issue with them. But they’re called My Taco and they’re identified as Mexican food. This isn’t Mexican food

My Taco, you are like the latina that I am crushing on hard but don’t got the nerve to ask out, probably cuz I cant speak a lick of Spanish. I only come here for one thing and one thing only; the Lamb Barbacoca w/rice & beans burrito. Sure there are a cornucopia of other things on the menu, but why bother when there is the lamb burrito. One of the few things that keeps me up at night, of how some time soon I will be in your warm embrace. The closest I will ever come to a ride or die chick, looking out for me with the extra salsa cup. Dreaming of when we will be together again. Never change My Taco, never change mi amore…

I’m stuffed! My coworker suggested this place after our rally since he lives and knows the area. You enter the restuarant, order at the counter and they give you a number. You pick your table and they bring the food out to you. Afterwards, they cleanup after you. Served with complimentary chips — or at least our table got it, lol! Crunchy and fresh — it also comes with their house dipping sauce in a red ketchup bottle. For $ 8.50, I ordered the 4 Taquitos Dorado Platillo. The amount of food here does not disappoint. It came with four taquitos smothered in shredded lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and sour cream, and that’s just the toppings of the taquitos. It’s also served with rice, refried beans and a scoop of guacamole, yum! For the taquitos, they are fat! Not your Costco frozen box versions. Think Cuban cigar size. I chose two of each — beef and chicken. I like the beef taquitos more than the chicken. The beef had more filling and seasoning to it. The chicken was decent, but the fillings were chopped too fine and so I didn’t taste chicken as much. Also, I wish they put a little more of the sour cream on instead of a drizzle across. The refried beans also tasted bland. It was thick and creamy, but a bland taste to it. Topped off my meal with Strawberry drink — their water of the day. They use real strawberries and it was refreshing — not overly sweet. I got a large for $ 2.65. They will also give you refills on the drink since it’s made fresh in house. Total meal was 12.15 and they give you a lil baggie for your limes and chopped onions and cilantro and with two little cups to get your sauces at their sauce counter by the dining area. You can also get your utensils and napkins there too. Fast friendly service. Small little hole in the wall joint with a colorful dining area. Parking is tight, but you’ll find a spot or you can street park too.
