Big menu of really fresh, good food. I got the«green eggs and ham» which was scrambled eggs with pesto, Canadian bacon and roasted potatoes. It was delicious. Also, amazing lattes. Comparable to Home and The Alcove, but I think it wasn’t as expensive. Very cute, small place with a nice brunchy environment. Street parking unfortunately, but there’s plenty of residential streets surrounding the place with plenty of parking.

I don’t come here very often but every time I do I’m surprised by how good the food is. I’ve had the breakfast burrito in the past and that’s good; had the sun-dried tomato/goat cheese scramble this morning and that was delicious as well. Interesting food. Wouldn’t recommend the multigrain toast.

This place is a great breakfast/lunch spot in Los Feliz. Their menu is large and it seems to be on the fresh and healthy side while still offering delicious treats like ricotta pancakes. I’m a huge fan of the eggs Benedict. Their breakfast potatoes are cut large, seasoned well and deliciously soft to the bite. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito and was pleased as well. I also have a friend who swears by the goat cheese salad. Server was very friendly. Prices aren’t outrageous. It certainly gets busy on weekend mornings but I’ve never waited longer than 15 minutes.

This place is an all around winner, I have breakfast here often — the food is tasty, the service is quick, the staff is super friendly and its a great place to have a late brunch and crack open your favorite book. It’s one of my favorite little cafes in the area, I’ve brought family and friends here and its always a pleasant experience.

Always good! Love the chopped salad and chicken salad sandwich. Pancakes are made just perfect! Good prices and good service. Has never disappointed. Best neighborhood café with no frills.

Love this place! I’ve been going here for years, my favorite is the tofu bruschetta or sunrise croissant. Great place to bring friends visiting from out of town. Laid back environment, friendly staff, great food, pretty sweet location right smack dab in the middle of Los Feliz.

I live a few blocks away from Mustard Seed Café and walk past it on a regular basis. I was always vaguely curious about the place, but never felt that motivated to try it. I finally went for a weekday lunch and it was pretty much what I expected – a casual spot with a lot of breakfast food and salads, very L.A. and immediately forgettable. The place is always popping on weekends, but it was quiet when we went on a Tuesday at noon. The space felt comfortable and familiar – fairly typical café/diner décor/atmosphere, and I guess I’d seen inside it a thousand times without paying particular attention. There was casual table service. Our waiter was nice, but he did get my vegetarian friend’s order wrong – her omelet arrived with bacon. They fixed it right away, though, and I think Mustard Seed is generally very vegetarian and vegan-friendly. I don’t know how else to explain its enduring popularity, though I guess some meat eaters like to eat healthy, too. I got the Mustard Seed chopped salad and remembered how little I like most salads. This one sounded promising, with turkey bacon, grilled chicken, avocado, garbanzo beans, beets, gorgonzola, tomato, and basil over a bed of chopped romaine. It came with a choice of Dijon or balsamic vinaigrette and I opted for the balsamic, which came on the side. The avocado and gorgonzola were good, but the chicken was dry and I didn’t like the tough bits of turkey bacon. The vegetables were plain and tasteless, even the beets, which seemed like they came from a can. The salad was enormous, and I stopped eating it once the chicken and gorgonzola were gone. On the bright side, I was kind of proud of myself for ordering a salad as my meal, and I can see how this would be a good option if I wanted to do that on the regular. On the other hand, The Alcove is better for that, and Mustard Seed, despite its unfussy set-up, isn’t any cheaper. Anyway, no hard feelings, but I doubt I’ll make a habit of eating here. I’ll just nod at the place when I pass by with my dog.

I got the huevos rancheros and they were great. But the potatoes take the cake. To die for. I always head here for brunch when I’m in Los Feliz.

I’ve eaten here three times and the food and service have always been amazing! Try the lemon ricotta pancakes and chilaquiles, both are the best around.

Los Feliz probably wins my award for Neighborhood with the Most Overrated Restaurants. Little Dom’s, Alcove, Home, Spitz, Fred 62, Farfalla, Palermo’s and Rockwell spring immediately to mind. Thankfully, Mustard Seed breaks the mold. Well, at least in the food department. Breakfast that deserves to be called breakfast – eggs, rye bread with butter and home fried potatoes – rather than some ridiculous foodie deconstruction(hash brown foam, eggs Dirk Benedict Tom Arnold or Gluten-Free Vegan Snickerdoodle Pancakes with Crystallized Maple Syrup Buckyballs.) But it was quintessential Los Feliz given that another bearded and flannel shirt patron and I had a heated debate with the server over Django Unchained vs. Hateful Eight(win goes to Django), Denis Villeneuve vs. François Girard(Villeneuve, bien sur!) and where exactly Los Feliz becomes East Hollywood.(When the goatee to beard ratio flips. Duh.)

Mustard Seed Café is a charming, but small establishment on Hillhurst Ave in the Los Feliz neighborhood. The food at Mustard Seed Café is your bare bones home cooking with fresh ingredients. Since this is Los Angeles, the menu has something for everyone. This place suits every type of eater, from your hearty eaters to those watching their waistlines. They serve all your breakfast favorites: pancakes, waffles, omelettes, and low carb, low fat and high protein dishes. My friend raved about the crispness of her bacon and lightness and fluffiness of the pancakes. I loved the hollandaise sauce on my Eggs Benedict, and plus, the fresh fruit salad was very sweet and refreshing. The Mustard Seed Café is the type of neighborhood joint that you can relax. The only problem is the parking because parking along Hillhurst is limited so you have to park in the surrounding neighborhood streets. And if you aren’t adept in parallel parking, it will be a nightmare. Arrive fairly early for brunch between 9AM and 11AM to get a table with little to no wait time. After 11AM, GOODLUCK! Overall, I would recommend this spot for yummy food and very pleasant server views. It’s a great place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon.

Not the best breakfast spot, but it will do if you’re in a pinch. Had the tofu scramble, and it was as good as I could make for myself… and I’m not the best cook. The fruit on the side isn’t freshly cut, it is apparently precut in little bags, as told to us by our server. My boyfriend had the Egg in the Hole, which he said was ok. The potatoes were over roasted and not well seasoned. Nothing was BAD, but nothing was really good. Except for the toast… they have Rosemary roast which really was yummy. There are a lot of places in the neighborhood that either have better breakfast, or the same kind of breakfast but at least for a lower price. Service was good though… cordial servers.

Not the prettiest or most ambient place to go for brunch, but the staff and the food make this place a neighborhood staple. The wait staff and its regulars are like family, and the meals are always generous and fulfilling. The only problem here is the atmosphere — they lack air-conditioning and fans so inside is as sticky as outside. If you sit outside, there are lots of flies — we had to move in to finish our breakfast. The owners could definitely use some help with the décor — it’s outdated and fittings a little worse for wear. This place is just in need of a little love, and it would be way more popular.

Mustard Seed Café is an alright place with big portions but it doesn’t have anything special. The overall atmosphere is not that nice and it looked a little dirty. The service was friendly and funny and was probably my favorite part of the restaurant. My order was taken quickly and the food arrived fast. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad. The salad was good but the chicken in the sandwich wasn’t cooked very well on one of the sides. It had a weird undercooked flavor but the overall portion was great and at least the meal filled me up. Overall not my favorite place but I would consider coming back here and possibly trying something else because other things on the menu looked good.

I enjoyed the chicken sandwich with avocado and grilled onions! Definitely large enough to share :) but they’re low on speciality drinks(basic iced tea and lemonade)

It’s ironic that you would find me here since I’m allergic to mustard seeds… I would of given this place more stars because the food is pretty legit. The reason for the 2 stars is because they keep short changing me. They do not return coins. I do not know if it’s a policy they have or what but I just feel jipped every time I go there. If I do end up coming back, will be leaving exact change for the bill. I’ll also make sure I have enough change for tip… tsk tsk…

Not much too this place. A pretty typical LA breakfast spot. Decent food for a decent price. Ordered the Mustard Seed Café Omelette with Chorizo Sausage. The omelette was good except for the handful of large broccoli stems inside. I would take out the broccoli next time. The avocado on top was very fresh but the roasted potatoes on the side were very undercooked. Very hard inside. Overall this café is nice for a quick bite and some coffee. But don’t expect a great meal. Or great service. Along with a lack of cleanliness.

Randomly stopped in for brunch and had such a hard time deciding what to get because the menu is huge and you will want everything! I ended up getting a veggie omelette, my bf got the eggs Florentine(which is the only reason I didn’t give five stars), and we split a lemon ricotta pancake. Omelette was super flavorful with wonderful fresh veggies, the breakfast potatoes looked so good on my neighbors table I couldn’t resist getting them along with the Rosemary toast, and thank goodness I did or I would have eaten them off my bfs plate. The pancake was amazing get it without hesitation. The eggs Florentine was a let down, not much flavor in the spinach nor the hollandaise. Coffee is decent! The waiter recommended the chai latte and next time I will definitely go with that instead! Super casual and friendly, seat yourself with great staff. Loved our waiter, he was relaxed but we didn’t wait long to order, receive our food, have a check in, or to pay. We will definitely be back!

The only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one is that I have to assume this was an off morning at Mustard Seed. I assume that because of all the more positive reviews I am reading here. The menu looked great. It was a lovely Sunday morning. We had enough time for most any restaurant before we had to get going. And there was plenty of seating. We went for the sidewalk tables. That’s where the good part of this breakfast ended. While I wouldn’t call the waiter surly, it would be a stretch in the other direction to call him friendly. Cold would be the nicest thing I could say, but unpleasant is more truthful. And the food, though it looked great, was bland, bland and even more bland. I had the Eggs Florentine and it’s hard to imagine how a sauce could be more tasteless, but the spinach and eggs were its match. My wife had what sounded like a flavorful omelet. It wasn’t. We both had the same impression. Even large amounts of salt and pepper couldn’t perk things up. And slow, OMG! Of course, it had to be slow to give our food(especially the omelet) to get as cold as it was when served. The coffee and water tasted fine. I really do not think of myself as at all picky about service or food, but this was exceptionally bad in both ways. Maybe I’ll give it another try, but … no, I won’t for a few years.

Great place for breakfast or lunch in the Los Feliz Village area. It’s close to all of the Los Feliz and Griffith Park action, and tends to be less busy than Alcove or Little Dom’s. They have a huge menu, which you can get lost in, but it’s nice to have a large selection. The majority of the seats are outdoors, so be prepared. I got the veggie quesadilla and it was soo good. I like that you can order lunch during breakfast since I’m not a fan of eggs.

So I came here with one of my friends that lives in the area who said it was a great place! It was Sunday morning brunch so it was really busy. We put our name on the list and it took less than 10 minutes for them to call our name. We were seated inside, and man the place is tiny! You’re basically eating with the people sitting at the tables next to you loll. So anyways after waiting about 5 – 10 mins to get some menus, we ordered coffee then ordered our food. I got the breakfast bagel sandwich and my friend got the breakfast burrito. When our food came it looked super good! And it was! Except for the fact that they forgot to put the pesto sauce on the sandwich, so it was completely dry. I get it, it was super busy, but that sort of sucked that I had to put it all on there myself and take the sandwich apart. When I told my waiter, he literally didn’t care and sort of looked like he just came back from smoking a joint in the back lol. Anyway, the food was good, a little on the pricey side for what we got, but it was worth a try. I would recommend this place but maybe not on a Sunday morning for brunch so it’s a little less busy.

Great neighborhood breakfast place, but nothing to drive to. The Mustard Seed omelet came as a large portion with lots of cheese. The tuna melt quesadilla tasted exactly how it sounds. Nothing was too special about this place including the prices.

Ended up here on a first date. We were suppose to hit a 2nd gelato place but it was being remodeled so we were forced into real food. I think a little bit of us died inside right there. Ended up in the back corner table by the AC unit so there was a big puddle under our table. I’m fine with it because ELO come on and that shyt my jam. Jelly. Split the eggs Benedict. I’d get it again. I think the date went well too. He seemed some what shy but interested. Or just like totally disgusted with me to the core. Not sure which. I’m terrible at reading people.
