So the food here is REALLY good. I tend to order the carne asada torta and the meat is always so tender and juicy and the bread is always toasted just right. I also like their salsa. The reason for the 3 star rating is the woman taking orders. She has zero customer service skills. She’s rude, short with customers and once she stopped me in the middle of my order and asked me to start over bc she was too busy reading a text to do her job. So in conclusion, it’s great food for a great price and you can enjoy after you walk away from the sourpuss employee.

Mr. Taco is a taco truck that parks right near USC Health Sciences Campus on Eastlake Ave. If you know about this taco truck, you might not want to eat food on campus ever again. Mr. Taco delivers high quality food at a ridiculously low price. Health Dept. also gives it an A, so no worries for you health freaks out there. The food is wonderfully authentic and prepared by traditional Mexican cooks who know what they are doing. The tacos are $ 1 apiece, burritos are $ 4.50 and HUGE, and the plato de asada/al pastor/canitas/lengua/chicken/etc. are $ 5. They also have tortas, enchiladas, and other delights. However, I think the BEST deal is the plato de whatever. It comes w/whatever meat you choose, rice, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, radishes, and 4 – 5 tortillas. It’s a GINORMOUS combo plate that will fill you up and give you extreme food coma. I’ve fallen asleep in class many times after enjoying this for lunch. The tacos are, to me, medium sized, and three will fill you up. So far, my favorites are the tacos and the platos. As for their meats, I’ve tried carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas. Their carne asada is OK, but I think it deserves a bit more lemon to make it truly delish. Carnitas is average and a bit bland. But the best is al pastor — it’s just so perfectly flavored. If you ask for sauce, the green sauce is spicier than the red sauce. My other suggestion is to put lemon on everything — makes it so much better. Mr. Taco is only there from about 11 am to 1 pm on weekdays for lunch service, so you can catch them then. It gets a bit busy during lunch, but they make your food in record time. The food is awesome, but I would NOT recommend buying drinks from there. Every drink they have(from soda to water bottles) are about $ 1 – 1.50 apiece. NOT worth it. Everything else definitely is!!! Oh, cash only, so bring plenty of cash.

Ordered a carne asada burrito for lunch and I gotta say it must have weighted a least a couple of pounds as I walked back to my office with it. For $ 4.50, it’s definitely a lot of food for the price. I liked how they put extra green salsa, sliced radishes and key lime on the side without me even asking! The burrito definitely has great flavor as well as a good kick to it! I believe it’s the first time I’ve ate Mexican food that was as spicy as it was without me adding salsa to it. The funny thing is. adding the green salsa to it actually helps to lessen the spiciness of it! Hahaha… it’s a good thing though. as the spiciness is the type that isn’t too spicy to the point where it will stop you from eating more… but it’s the type that will make you go back taking more bites till the whole burrito is gone! Fast, friendly service at affordable prices! I’m adding it to my book of good eats at the HSC campus!
