My bf and I walked in, ok my bf followed me in because I tend to wander like a hyper kid when it comes to food hahaha. I LOVE cheese, meat, chocolate, etc and while strolling the farmer’s market stumbled upon this cute gourmet shop. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the gentleman behind the counter who assisted us but he was top notch. I know he was younger, had dark short hair and glasses. He was more than helpful in letting us sample meats and cheeses. He packaged everything up beautifully and was even more than obliging at providing us with some ice so our cheese and meat could stay cool on the way home. It was a hot day and we rode the motorcycle and we didn’t want the cheese and meat to perish. The market had a variety of unique treats, beverages and foods. In addition to meat and cheese, we bought a small selection of chocolates. Check out was quick and gal was sweet and bubbly. Was pleased with customer service and thoroughly enjoyed the cheese, meat and chocolate when we got home. Items can be a bit pricey but everything we bought was so damn tasty. Cheese purchased: Midnight Moon Quebec 7 year cheddar Boschetto al Tartufo(black truffle infused) Meat: Framani soppressata Creminelli calabrese salami

We stopped by the store to grab crackers and cheese for a picnic and light bite. Great specialty food store and place to stop for gifts for the foodie in your life. We were able to try some new cheeses and for a reasonable price.

I’ve shopped here several times. Time to write a short review. They have a very tasteful selection of gourmet food items. Anything you need they probably have. Last time I was in I picked up a Beaujolais Nouveau wine and some new harvest Olive Oil. The prices are very reasonable on a lot of things considering that also their level of customer service is very very high. It is always a delight to shop here.

Too much money? Not enough peculiar imported snack-foods? Finally, a solution: Monsieur Marcel. If you’ve read other reviews, they clearly have their act together with cheese, wine and whatnot… but can we take a minute to talk about candy? Seriously — their selection is surprisingly extensive… and after exhausting the«Sweets from Trader Joe’s» curiosity(…meh) it is certainly a gem for the adventurous sweets-lover. They stock a variety of individual candies and all kinds of keen flavors of dark-chocolate. They also have imported macaroons behind the counter. …Not however the place to buy regular ”American Goods”. I think I bought a diet coke for like $ 3 last night. I was desperate.

Monsieur Marcel is the go-to destination for fine meats, cheese, and olives especially if you want to impress your guests. Their knowledgeable staff behind the counter always has a recommedation of a cheese(I adore the blue moon). They will gladly provide you with a sample and they slice their meats perfectly thin. Their assortment of olives really covers the gamut for all tastes, but I normally buy the same combination they serve in the restaurant. I would suggest going to Trader Joe’s to purchase wine and save your money. Check out their mac and cheese in their freezer section— don’t be deterred by it’s $ 10 price tag, just follow the oven instructions and enjoy!

i love the european selection of products at hand. i am a big sucker for that. however the fact that they have an excellent selection of cheese is the bigger reason to come here. i swear, they have more cheese than a chick flick. their deli selection is very complete and again more in the european style than an east coast style which often an east coast style deli here in los angeles is about as real as a hoochie mamma’s breasts from the san fernando valley. lots of cold cuts as well and LOTS of different styles of preserved olives. if you’re an olive fan, this store is a MUST. fresh baked bread as well. i really wish this store was closer to me. however, this is a definite stop whenever i visit farmers market or the grove. oh, i almost forgot: an excellent dark chocolate selection and of course, if it isn’t obvious by now, wine too. how could you NOT love this store!!!

I love the beverly hills cheese store. I was happy to find a place closer to home… unfortunately, my excitement was very very short lived. I have rarely gotten so much attitude from cheese people(aside from whole foods where I refuse to shop)… I wanted to buy savarin, a triple cream… they didn’t want to let me taste it, and they were right, had I tasted it, I never would have bought it… it was way beyond ripe. It was moldy. I’ve asked about wine, no one wants to answer or they don’t want to admit they don’t know. Honestly, with the cheese store just 15 minutes away, I won’t go back. The cheese store has about 10 times the cheese, the staff knows a ton and they are always happy to let you taste anything you might consider buying. Plus, they will put a cheese plate together for you if you ask – that you can taste. I don’t need the attitude from Mr Marcel and the prices are ridic for the condition of the cheese. It’s a good place if you want to overspend on lots of crap or if you are one stop shopping at the grove, if not, then there are many many better cheese stores in LA, even if you have to drive. Personally, I hate to drive, but I hate bad cheese more. Silverlake’s cheese store is better and so is say cheese, even surface has it in better condition for less cash. There is a reason why chefs in town go to the cheese store. Now really, have you ever had a chef tell you he bought the cheese for his restaurant at Mr Marcels? that would be dire straights my friends!!!

A good selections of specialty foods. I picked up few items that I haven’t been able to find since I lived in San Francisco.

Oh my lordy… if I were a mouse I’d be in Cheesie Heaven! Mr. Marcel’s market has the most amazing selection of Fronch Delicacies… yes, FRONCH(must say it with the accent lol). Great assortment of cheese, meats, wines, spices(bought this amazing rub for fishies that comes in a grinder… it’s called«Hooked.» They also have one for chicken called«Plucked» lol. It’s right by the cheese counter and they have bowls with various spices in them for you to smell pre-buy!), and chocolates galore! I’m thinking that if my boyfriend(ahem…Chris are you listening??) came here and stalked up on some sliced cheese, a nice bottle of wine and some chocolate… he be as good as gold in my book! Makes for a great date… or, for a fabulous party.
