The fried rolls left something to be desired, but their fresh ones are just awesome! Like tatter tots? Then you MUST try their tots with xo sauce– wicked good! The owners are a chef and his wife, who are really delightful! Order here and you are getting a great food truck meal, made by an actual chef, so be patient;) food turn around can be a little slow, but the result is pretty dang good.

I was excited to try this since I’m Jewish and I love some good deli. Sad to say this was a fail for me. The filling was sparse, I could barely taste the slaw. The ends were BURNT to a crisp. I had to throw out a portion of the turkey because it was literally black and tasted really bad. The tater tots we got on the side were freezing cold. I asked them to be remade and that took about another 10 min. It wasn’t like they were slammed busy, we tried this when they were at our Food Truck Saturday in Santa Clarita. They did give us a free order of coconut bread pudding bites and those were tasty, but not enough to overcome the 9.00 burnt egg roll. Sorry.

I finally caught up with this truck. I had seen it around for awhile and it has some great logo/art on the side so I have been enticed to try it for awhile. I tried the Big MOE and it was really good! It was heavy and i was hungry so I left very satisfied. Also picked up the Reuban for later since I wanted to try something else from there. Was solid as well. No complaints and worth the stop if you see the truck.

Just had the Big Moe today for the first time. Long story short, the egg roll is pretty much a «fried buritto.» The food are packed with interesting flavor, but it is REALLY oily and greasy. So be warned since the whole thing is fried. But I like what I had, and if you are not on a diet and is in need of some greasy flavorful meal, this would be a nice choice.

My brother loves this truck. He raved and raved about it before we even order. So expectations were high. Had an original Big Moe brisket. Very good. Creative idea to have it like an egg roll. Thought it was going to be small like an egg roll, it was not. It was big like a wrap. Another in group had Rachel. This was very tasty as well. Definitely recommend.

I really wanted to love this truck, because how does a pastrami eggroll not sound awesome? I ordered the Reuben eggroll and a side of XO tater tots for lunch. Service was pretty quick, no more than 5 minutes. My food was nicely packaged in a paper bag to take to a nearby seating area, and the sauces were on the side to be used to taste. First off, the tater tots were excellent. Nice and crispy with a good flavor. And the XO sauce is really good — it’s like a chunky sriracha with bits of meat mixed in. It’s a perfect complement to the tots. Unfortunately, after I finished off the tots, I had a less pleasant experience with the eggroll. It was served cut in two so it’s easier to handle, which is a nice touch. However, it was so greasy that it had soaked through the paper wrapper, which was difficult to peel away. I struggled to eat it without dripping grease and bits of slaw all over myself. The first few bites worked pretty well, since the middle of the eggroll is flexible enough not to crumble. But when I got to the bottom, the crunchier part of the roll shattered and I had to use a fork to eat the remains of the filling. It’s very tasty, just a huge pain to eat. And it’s greasy enough that I didn’t add any of the included dressing. Overall, giant eggrolls full of non-traditional fillings is a cool idea, but the execution leaves something to be desired. If I run across them again I will definitely get a large order of the tater tots, but probably won’t get another eggroll.

Egg roll enlarged to a burrito and filled with tasty delicious char shu or done more burrito-style with seared ahi? Color me intrigued. Service was reasonably quick, price was– well, acceptable enough for a food truck– and the char shu was redeeming, with some decent fatty bits that gave it some decent flavor. The problem is, the rest was pretty underwhelming. Scaling an egg roll to burrito size is a bit tough, and the tasty sauce that does well in egg roll portions, when scaled to a burrito, just didn’t excite me. It tasted pretty good the first bite or two, then you realize you just yanked out half the meat in that half of the burrito(and cutting it was a bad idea, better to leave it in one single burrito– way less messy). And a half a burrito with no meat is a sad, sad thing. 2.5 stars. The ingredients are right, the idea is not exactly exciting but it’s workable, the execution just isn’t quite right.

As I’m here on Wilshire, running the block for food, I stop here and am greeted by a friendly guy. The owner no less running it by himself today it looked like. I order the trio salad with chicken. Oh my! Best damn salad I’ve had out in a long time, let alone from a truck! I’m contemplating getting another one to take home with me. Lol Def a truck I’ll gladly come back to!

Why the heck is so much garlic used?!? Okay, so I had the veggie egg roll today for lunch. I should have stopped after one bite because it was so garlic heavy. The spicyness was from SO much garlic. I just powered through it because I was hungry and it was $ 10. That was my fault and I regret it because I started burping garlic flavor/fumes like crazy soon after, and I knew the smell was coming out of my pores. I must have pissed my coworkers off. Here it is 7 hours after lunch and I STILLSTINKLIKEGARLIC even after a shower, and using the strongest mouthwash available without a prescription. Even the wife and cats are going, «…you kinda stink… more than normal… i’ll be way over here.» I’m so embarrassed and upset. But that’s all on me. It was my fault for eating the rest of that big drippy, oily, garlic ridden creation. My mouth is SO dry, and I’m still burping garlic flavor, which tells me a ton of salt and a ton of garlic was used. Only eat here if you want to keep vampires, and your loved ones away from you for 26+ hours. Does anyone know of any cure to get rid of this oil and garlic stink out of my system any sooner than 24+ hours or do I have to let it run its course?

I cannot believe this truck only has 3 ½ stars. Easily the best food truck I have had thus far. First, the menu: SOMUCH I wanted to try. I was so impressed with the menu. Alot of delish sounding and healthy options. I wanted something different so I got one of the specials: Ahi Tuna Big Roll(in a soy wrap.) This was the first time I enjoyed a soy wrap. Ussually the texture is so chewy for me to enjoy but this was perfection. The ahi tuna was AMAZING and FRESH and the spicy roulade… to die for. It took a little bit of time but I didn’t mind. I ordered ahi tuna from a truck… I kind of expect it to take a little bit of time. Came with a giant pickle. OMNOM I love pickles. The waiter guy was a little awkward. Thats alright though. The food was amazeballs. I was SOIMPRESSED with this truck. My eggroll was fresh and delicious.

I’d never heard of this truck before I saw it outside of LACMA today. The kids are huge fans of egg rolls, so given their choice of where we were getting their lunch, they chose MOE. Now I’m angry at them both because had they not eaten here I would have never known that I made a bad choice by getting my lunch at a different truck. The kids got the Veggie Roll, and devoured it. I had a taste and immediately regretted the tacos I’d purchased from a neighboring truck… live and learn. But as we sat there chowing down on our grub the picture of those tater tots kept taunting me… I just had to try them and WOW. Now, I’m not usually a tater tot guy. I was once told that a particular hot dog stand had really good tater tots and I tried them and they were really good… so good that I started ordering them regularly… but then I had the XO Tots at MOE, and it’s all over for me. I’ll never eat another tot unless it’s from this truck. So the upshot is, this truck is amazing and my kids are grounded. Hopefully this will save my waistline in the future… that is if I don’t see the MOE truck anytime soon! (Oh, and a big congrats to their chef for winning«Chopped» recently. Based on the food I had from the truck, you deserve it. Hell, based on those tots alone I’d make you Iron Chef!)

I rarely post reviews. They have to either really offend me or really blow my mind. In this case, my mind… :BOOM: Ordered the Big MOE, the Big Naked, the Knish fritters, and the bread pudding bites(I split all of these with the hubby). Okay, now, every bite made me mad because I couldn’t chew fast enough to get the next bite. Everything was crisp, delicious, fresh, and amazing. Out. Of. Control. And those bread pudding bites… I will now dream of those bread pudding bites. I want them with every meal for the rest of my life. The owners, Emily and Michael, were so smart with their menu and talked me through it pointing out their favorites and must-try’s. Get ready, I’m about to pun at you… But this experience left me only wanting Moe.

Big Moe roll was really good, but super greasy and fell apart. The Ox tots, which are tater tots covered in a chunky asian sauce, are fried perfectly but the sauce was unbelievably salty for my taste.

Five stars for good food and happy, smiling service! I gave MOE a try for the first time last night and quite enjoyed the experience. The truck is owned and operated by a couple and the wife, Emily, is super friendly(I didn’t get the chance to meet her husband). After much consideration, I decided to try a special: the Hot Tongue Eggroll. The beef tongue is braised and prepared in the same manner as their brisket– CHARSIUBBQ style. Yum. The tongue, along with slaw and pickled red onions, came packed in a HUGE eggroll wrapper, so it is about the size of a large burrito. I was also curious about the Chopped Liver side, since I like liverwurst and pâté but had never tried chopped liver, so I asked Emily about it. After hearing her enthusiastic reply, I gave that a try as well. The eggroll was really tasty! Of course, a lot of the credit goes to the delicious tongue, which indeed was char siu flavored, tender, and dripping meaty juices. The whole thing was ginormous and quite messy, but who doesn’t like that? It came with two sauces on the side: their house made Russian dressing and the MOE aioli, which seems to be made from Chinese mustard. I liked both sauces, although I would be happy if the aioli was just a tiny bit thicker. So, the Hot Tongue was a winner, and I even took half home. I also really enjoyed the Chopped Liver. It came chilled, topped with some of the pickled red onions, and served with pieces of rye toast. I guess it’s more of my(imaginary) Jewish side coming out because I would definitely eat this again! In fact, I didn’t finish all of the liver, which is now in my fridge, and so all I need is some more toast! Some friends shared their order of the XO Tater Tots, so I tried those as well. They pack a real flavor punch, and the tots are cooked up extra crispy. Last but not least, after reading other reviews, I asked Emily why they didn’t have any dessert items on the current menu. She said they now tend to offer those items for catered events only. But then– she later surprised me with a special order of their Won Ton Strips with Five Spice and Sugar. Wow, those things are addictive. My friends gobbled them up even more quickly than me! I hope to see the MOE truck again soon and try some of their regular items. Emily and her husband did a great job last night, and they were some of the nicest food truck operators I have encountered. Don’t forget to check in for a special Unilocal deal!

Oh @moeggrolls! You had my attention at egg rolls! You sold me at giant egg rolls! I love egg rolls and so when I spotted this truck at the go2Bat4life event at Dodger stadium, I was instantly intrigued. After viewing the menu and talking to my friend who had seen food from this truck before, I saw that the concept is burrito like or wrap style food but instead of tortillas, everything is wrapped in a giant egg roll! I chose to get the«Big Moe» for a little under $ 10. It has char siu brisket, mango slaw and chinese aioli. The folks working the truck were friendly and I was surprised how quickly my order came out! The Big Moe is really big. That giant egg roll was stuffed with plenty of flavorful goodies. The char siu brisket was tender, the mango slaw was sweet and the Chinese aioli added a nice twist. It was interesting to have all of this inside an egg roll. It’s definitely not your traditional egg roll. The egg roll wrapper was good but I would have preferred it to be more crispy. I love the concept of this truck! It definitely holds a lot of promise! A little more crispiness on those egg roll wrappers and I will be head over heels for this truck ;)!

Finally a unique idea… although I’m not so sure about the result. I tried the BIGMOE, which I was told is their signature and is an giant eggroll with brisket, mango slaw and aoli. True to their word, it was huge. It was also overly heavy and really messy. Plus, it was $ 10 and took forever to make. What happened to trucks being a cheaper and quicker alternative? Interesting to try, but doubt that I’ll be going back.

I have seen this truck on a couple of event lists and have been wanting to try it. I finally got my opportunity last Saturday at the Eat See Hear event that was held in Santa Monica. I also tried a couple of other trucks But I’ll start with M.O. Eggrolls! I had already checked out their website so I knew what they were all about and what their menu consisted of. I liked the concept but would it work, and would I like it? Yes to both! I ordered«The Reuben» which consisted of: Pastrami, MOE’slaw, Russian Dressing, and Kosher Dill Pickle. I have seen some people questioning the cost, The Reuben was $ 10.00 and if this was just an egg-roll I would be inclined to agree but this wasn’t an egg-roll, it was a big Reuben Sandwich inside of a egg-roll shell. If you have eaten at a Deli you know that this cost is right in line and isn’t overpriced. Luckily I was splitting this with my nephew or I would not have been able to try any more trucks this evening. I will post a photo of it and you will see how big it is and how packed with ingredients it is. Yes, it may take 15 minutes to receive your order as others have stated but do you really think you can get a good, made to order meal in 5 minutes? I enjoyed my meal and service from M.O. Eggroll and they have a nice looking truck too. As I said before I split this with my nephew and he also enjoyed it.

There were 2 new food trucks lined up in the DTLA financial district that I haven’t tried. I first stopped by the burger truck, checked out their prices(which were fair), and then walked by M.O.Eggrolls. I decided to get the burger and since I still had a little bit of change, I thought I’d use it as an opportunity to try another food truck. My initial thought about MOEs was pricey with 2 eggrolls for $ 6. My second thought was the eggrolls on display looked a little burnt and small. I still wanted to try it, so I ask for their most popular which was the holiday roll stuffed with turkey. The guy rings me up and says, «$ 4.35». I re-confirm with him and ask him why it was so expensive. Apparently, I was charged an extra 50 cents for not getting the 2 for $ 6 special(hate when businesses do that) and then charged an additional 50 cents for the cranberry dipping sauce he upsold me on. I was a little challenged spending that much on ONE eggroll but paid the guy anyway. He said if I didn’t like it, I could always come back. I walk back to work and remove the paper. I can’t believe I paid over $ 4 for this 3″ x 1″ roll. The roll itself was good but not great. I think if I could justify the small bite spending, I might like this place more. Needless to say, I can’t justify it and will probably not return.

I thought it was a little strange that I had never seen, nonetheless heard, of such a cute truck. So, of course, I decided to give M.O. Eggrolls a closer look. The owner, who had noticed that I had passed by the truck at least five times, finally had me and asked, «Do you need help with anything? You can try some things if you’d like.» I already knew what I was going to get, so I passed up the sample offer. Instead, I asked him why I had not seen this truck before, and it turns out that M.O. Eggrolls is a fairly new truck. I went ahead and ordered the Tongue Chinois and Challah Pain Perdu eggrolls, taking the time to carefully pronounce these fancy names for the eggrolls. As much as I liked the truck, the concept, the people, and basically everything about the truck, they were a little slow in getting the food(all their food is already made). Then again, M.O. Eggroll is still new to this business, so I’m sure they’ll get the efficiency part down soon enough. When they got everything together, they handed the eggrolls to me with a HUGE smile and a thank you. Gotta love the service! Onto the eggrolls… they are bigger than you think they would be. The Tongue Chinois was packed with grinded kosher beef tongue, sauteed shiitake mushrooms, and kosher beef. Dip it into the dark tangy-citrusy sauce and you have yourself a couple of savory, finger-lickin’ bites. As for the Challah Pain Perdu… I did not expect such a whirlwind of flavors. Think: soft bananas, roasted peanuts, a hint of white rum, and a sweet coconut sauce all in one crunchy, intoxicating bite. Yeah. That’s M.O. Eggrolls for you. So if you ever see a sky blue truck covered in doodles of egg rolls, you’ll know it’s M.O. Eggrolls. And you know that you’ll have to give it a try… or you’ll regret it big time.

Jewanese: The Eggroll Delicatessen. Only when Jews and Chinese collide you can get a soy based *vegetarian friendly* Matzo Ball Soup. Challah what? Beautifully topped off with fried noodles and julienne carrots, this soup has sweet soy undertones and dense balls of matzo. I haven’t had matzo ball soup for about 8 years, so I jumped at the chance of having non-chicken broth MBS. On to the eggrolls! I got 2 eggrolls for $ 6. And four dipping sauces are available. Truffled Knish: russet potato and black truffle. Exactly as it sounds. It’s essentially truffle mashed potatoes wrapped in a crunchy eggroll. Of course I got the moe’racha dipping sauce. Firstly, it’s a rad name. Secondly, it’s a house-made, deliciously fresh version of sriracha that adds a spicy and acidic kick to your eggrolls. Challah Pain Perdu: Cultural orgy. A mouthful of bliss with challah, coconut, banana and peanuts. With a coconut lime glaze that’s to die for. This eggroll is 5 star worthy. Everything just works, though you might choke on an accidental inhale of powdered sugar. It happens. I found this food truck after watching a Quebec music show at the Piano Bar. The M in M.O. Eggroll stands for Montréal, but this is an LA food truck through and through. The staff is exceedingly friendly, and I commend Mike for being there every step of the way. Montréal. Open-Ended. Eggroll. — for those who wondered. Great job, guys. See you at my next Canadian jawn.
