I particularly like the lunch menu. The restaurant is never too crowded and the customer service is great, considering it’s just one person in charge of the front.

Average food. Good prices on the combo dinner: salad, soup, teriyaki, and tempura(my choices). Tempura batter was a little thicker than I like but good flavors.

I decided to try Miyako Restaurant for lunch a couple of days ago while working in Culver City. I went a little late around 1:15 p.m. and it looked like they were just finishing their first seating. A couple of tables were empty, a couple needed to be bused, a couple were waiting for their check and a couple were wrapping up their meal. I entered and waited at the door to be acknowledged and shown to a table. The server/cashier passed by me twice but choose to ignore me and go her way. After 5 minutes during her third pass she bumped into me and yet choose to ignore me. At this point two things became clear to me. One that I was not invisible and two that I was not welcome here. Well the feeling is mutual. One of the few places I’ve walked out of after stepping inside. I’m more than happy taking my business to the 40+ restaurants in the 2 mile square area of downtown Culver City. Thank You.

Was craving some Japanese food for dinner and wanted to try a nice place so the GF and I decided to try Miyako. It’s a small mom and pop place with about 10 tables. The lady was really nice and seated us right away. She even gave us a complimentary miso soup! Food: Unagi dinner plate with tempura($ 14.99). The plate came with tons of food: rice, side salad, pickled cabbage and bean sprouts, tempura, and a good amount of Unagi which was really delicious and smothered with a nice teriyaki sauce. There was lots of tempura too! The tempura was good: deep fried perfectly and not too oily. Wasn’t over battered either. The Unagi plate is easily a 4⁄5. Rainbow roll($ 9.95). The roll was just ok. The sashimi was mediocre and the roll itself was on the smaller side. Nothing really special about it. I’ve had better sushi elsewhere. Wouldn’t order again. 3⁄5 Overall, Miyako is a decent place to try. Would recommend getting the hot food rather then the sushi.

The tempura was soggy and did not taste fresh or good at all. The sushi was unremarkable. Not going back.

It was not what I expected. I ordered the teriyaki beef bowl and it was bland and the meat was flavorless. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Absolutely love their food. I always order their inari, veggie tempura, and miso soup. The California rolls are very good too.

Finally left this restaurant Omg I think the waitresses tried to pull a fast one on Me ;(((party of 2 people, when we first came in, she was sleepy & we even joked about it, the food was okay, service great~ the bill came for $ 23 something, gave her my CC& when I was about to sign., I notice my bill was $ 26 something;(hmmmm~ so I went to ask her for my original Bill & she was like nervous but I insisted & guess what? She gave me a new bill with an additional soda receipt lol… I didn’t want to make a big deal of this CHEATING restaurant. in fact I gave her a $ 5 tip… maybe she needed the money!!!

My mom and I were starving and were excited that Miyako was still open at 7PM on a Sunday. Most of the Japanese restaurants we’ve gone to have random days where they’re not open or early closing times. This place is open 7 days a week until 9PM. My mom and I placed our order at the shop for takeout and drove back to my place to eat. Upon opening our boxes, I realized they forgot my side of CA rolls(4 pcs). I was kind of irritated, mostly bc I was so hangry, but because I live so close to the place I called them to let them know. I asked if I could come back and pick up the CA rolls. She was very apologetic and told me she’d have them ready for me. I drove back to the restaurant and picked up my CA rolls. She apologized again and that was that. I kind of thought she’d throw in something extra for the trouble of having to come back but she didn’t, which isn’t a big deal I guess. The portions are pretty big but I wouldn’t say it was the best bento I ever ordered. Will probably come back since it’s the closest Japanese place!

Not the most authentic, but they have good food. I love their W-1 Special, Udon soups and a good roll!

I love this place and go whenever I have a hankering for spicy pork. I will sometimes call my order and and go to pick it up. While it’s sometimes hard to find parking, if they see you struggling, they will actually come out and bring your food to your car(if they realize that’s you who called it in). The lunch size portions are really big with a side salad, miso soup, rice and your meal all for under $ 10. You can go cheaper if you go for the chicken but to me, it’s all about the pork. And yes the ribs can be fatty like a few people mentioned but they have great flavor.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming! I agree with other reviews that the portions are very small. I was hoping for more. We spent about 50 bucks and left hungry. I didn’t love anything about it other than friendly staff. The sushi was underwhelming and we actually Unilocaled places close by and went elsewhere to eat after spending 50 dollars here on I am not sure what.

It is a rip off place. I ordered sushi biggest combination with 30 pieces. What a rip off. Paid over $ 30 dollars that was worth $ 7. They use the most cheapest ingredient and options. I gave them a chance three times. I will never eat or order food there.

DONOTORDERTHESHORTRIBS! I wasted $ 9 — the order consisted of fat, bone, grizzle and approx. 1oz of meat(specks here n there on the«ribs»). It was disgusting. The Sushi tasted like grocery store Sushi.

Ordered for pick-up and it was ready right away. As soon as I walked in 10 minutes later, they woman behind the counter had my food ready to go in a bag with napkins and utensils. The sushi was good, the prices were reasonable, and the service was friendly. I will go back.

The service is friendly — owned by a Korean family of 2 – 3 women. I used to go about once a week because it’s easy. I suppose it’s because they will listen to what I want and make small substitutions for me, as a regular. They also remember their patrons and build a relationship. Some days the sushi is quite good and other days it’s mediocre at best. Today was not a good day for it, clearly wasn’t fresh and tasted like the fridge and so I didn’t finish it. But you won’t get sick here. It’s good enough and the prices are fair. They have figured out what the American client wants and the give it to them in service and refills but the quality is slightly lacking.

The food at Miyako is good. I have tried quite a few of their menu items and only one really stood out as really good. I believe they are called crunchy rolls(might be been crazy rolls) these rolls are the best they have. I have tried their bowls with white rice, beef, and broccoli and the beef which was good as well. The actual place is a small shop on the corner. There is a parking lot which they share with other restaurants on that corner so sometimes finding parking will take a while. The service is wonderful. Every time we would walk in we are immediately greeted and taken a menu. I love that we never had to wait to long for them to take my order and to get the food.

i went here on a whim after looking up a nearby sushi place. i can’t say that i was blown away by this place because, well, i wasn’t. the quality of food was ok and the taste was ok but it honestly reminded me of really cheap bargain $ 3 sushi. and it wasn’t $ 3. it wasn’t particularly expensive but it wasn’t really worth how much you end up paying. for instance, one roll was supposed to have chopped tomatoes and tuna on top. i’m convinced the tomato was selected because it was the cheapest ingredient that could resemble tuna. every bite felt like i just ate a tomato as opposed to spicy tuna sushi. again, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t what i wanted. i came for sushi, not veggie garden delight. really don’t think i’d ever go back here. service was good though… and there’s a free parking lot. that’s about it.

Came here since it’s my bf’s dad’s favorite place. Dad is no longer here but we came here thinking of him… Food is decent… They have your soup, salad, edamame, rolls, bowls and boxes. They also have udon and ramen. Food and service is decent but nothing out of the norm special about this place :) Would I come back? Yes, if I was in the area…
