Miss Ellen’s Music

We love Miss Ellen and her wonderful music class! Each semester features a new selection of world music in a variety of languages. The class is engaging for children and adults alike, and it’s fun to see everyone enjoying the experience. We’ve been going to the multi-​age class since my son was 15 months, and it has been fun to watch him participate in different ways as he grows.

Miss Ellen is a brilliant music teacher. The classes are fluid yet structured. She keeps things moving, but it doesn’t feel rushed. She balances familiarity with variation. She is patient and encouraging. She somehow remembers everybody’s name and is present with everyone in the room. Amazing class. Amazing value. A priceless educational experience.

Miss Ellen is great and so are her classes! My older son takes her preschool classes and my toddler takes her World Citizen Baby classes and both are fantastic! The always easy going and in a good mood Miss Ellen treats every child with cheerful respect. Her classes engage the children at their own level. I have had fun watching my son go from being shy at the start of the «semester» to now being a much more active participant.
It’s great to expose the little ones to music from around the world. I myself have enjoyed learning what songs children in South Africa, South America, Japan and Europe (to name a few) sing. There are some classic Euro/​American songs in there too.
Miss Ellen’s classes are a great way to meet your child at their level for 45 minutes. I loved being able to shut everything else out and share music with my son knowing that it was enriching for him.

I have attended several other music classes and for me, nothing compares. Miss Ellen is a natural, so wonderful and welcoming with the children.
We started going when my son was 9 months, which I would have guessed would be too early for him to get anything out of any sort of «class» but boy was I wrong! He gets so much out of it, and her assortment of instruments is sure to entertain parents alike. Our family makes many references to music class throughout the week, and our whole family knows (and loves) all of the songs and movements.
In case it wasn’t clear by now. I can’t say enough about it, and I promise you can’t go wrong here! Not to mention it’s just SO CUTE to get to hang out with a bunch of babies in a DRUM CIRCLE?! Come on!

LOVE Miss Ellen’s music class. Both my daughters are enrolled (1 & 3 yr old) and they really enjoy the songs from all over the world. Miss Ellen really gets into it and makes everyone feel comfortable. And what a voice she has, just beautiful to listen to.

We love Miss Ellen and her classes! My two year old daughter is currently enrolled in her fourth class with Miss Ellen. It’s rare and fantastic to find an instructor who both the kiddos AND the parents adore. We look forward to all the fun at our weekly class and our whole family sings the songs from class throughout the week. Yes honestly… they are catchy tunes! The compilations are great and it’s so much fun to hear my girls (five year old big sister joins us in class on occasion) ask for the class cds when we get in the car and then joyfully sing in the many languages presented. Miss Ellen is great at keeping the kiddos engaged and real enough to understand that sometimes kids just need to do their own thing. Come to a demo class to check it out, you’ll be thrilled you did!

Miss Ellen is a baby whisperer! All three of our very different boys have taken music class with her and have absolutely loved it. She has a rare and special talent!

We absolutely love Miss Ellen’s music class! We brought our son for the first time around five months, he was totally mesmerized, he’s nine months now and has so much fun in class! Miss Ellen both captivates the kids and encourages participation and engagement (both from babies and toddlers) in a way that feels totally natural. Her classes are warm and welcoming, and come to feel like a little community. She seems to be genuinely interested in the kids’ personalities, moods, their responsiveness and energy, while giving them space to interact organically with drums, little instruments, sticks etc. in their own individual ways. We’re so glad we found this class!
