This place is overpriced, over rated, and the tacos are small and lack any authentic taste. Bland tacos with no flavor and tiny portion. I spent over eight dollars for two tacos and a can of soda. I do not recommend this place unless you care for bad food at a bad price.

Pork is king. AL pastor to die for. Yummy chorizo. Carne asada was chewy. Chicken was good. Not a fan of the cachetada. Vampiro and mexicali tacos are delish.

This place has the best tacos ever! Albeit the high prices, it is definitely worth it. My friends got the carne asada fries and carne asada tacos. I got the carne asada tacos and the shrimp taco. The tacos are made kind of plain so y’all can customize it anyway you want it with the sauce and toppings bar. The service here is really good too. You order at the cash register and they will bring you your food. I’ll definitely come back again!

This place… is what dreams are made of. Being raised & growing up in a predominantly Mexican community allowed me to develop a taste for really good quality authentic food. & this little place delivers. I crave their food a few times a week & it is worth the 25 – 30 min drive. it’s inexpensive, it’s good portions, & it is incredible. they offer Mexican coke in bottles & different types of agua frescas including horchata! it’s so good — not the ones they serve everywhere that clearly come from an instant powder. their horchata is cinnamony & perfect. last time I went they had a watermelon juice that’s so uncommon anywhere else. it perfectly suited a warm summer day & was so refreshing!(ask for samples!) this place also doesn’t take card but there’s an atm tucked in the corner, next to self serving salsas/chilis which are also so amazing! everything is one harmonious balance of deliciousness — the drinks pair beautifully w the dishes, the salsas compliment the food, etc. literally every components are so flavorful. try it. you’ll be craving it less than 12 hours later.

Ok after a year it’s time for me to give this place the official thumbs up. Prices are typical for this neighborhood. This is a dine-in restaurant in an increasingly expensive area. Yes, you will pay $ 10 for three tacos. No, you will not regret it. Please remember that dining here means supporting a local small business. Tip your cashier! Their pastor is out of control delicious and tied with the chorizo for my favorite topping for the cachetada, a perfect balance of hearty/light that I now crave uncontrollably some days. Their salsa bar is gorgeous and always fresh and stocked. Poco de gallo perfect. Avocado salsa on point. Great pickled onions. And service is fast and friendly. A great change from the moody, inconsistent service that I’ve experienced pretty much everywhere else. A solid, affordable neighborhood standby that has yet to disappoint me.

It seems clean appearance wise. I ordered 3 shrimp tacos and on my last taco I bit into it and looked down at the shrimp and instantly got grossed out. If you know anything about shrimp there is a black line that is their poop that should be cleaned out before cooking. When I looked down I bit right into the part that shows where the poop is and it was not cleaned out. That is absolutely disgusting. And I am going to call and talk to whomever the manager is along with writing this review.

With so many taco joints in LA, Nope town. Over priced. 2 tacos and a regular size sandia drink… 11+ change. I was robbed! Not buy a cholo. By some cute girl at the register. Oh well. I’m sure they won’t read this. As long as they keep getting the regulars, they’ll be ok. They don’t need my monies.

Came by in the evening, and saw an empty restaurant, there were two women at the table eating. But, seeing as how we made the trip out there, we decided to give it a shot. The cashier was helpful, explained the menu a little bit and gave us suggestions as to what was popular. I wanted to try the al pastor, but it was already sold out when we arrived. (Cash Only!) We ordered the Cachetada topped with an egg, vampiro with chicken, and the Zuperman(mulita). My Cachetada was piled with a generous portion of Asada, and the egg was cooked just right. The cheese and aioli all worked together giving it enough kick and unique flavor to make it different. The Zuperman was also packed with loads of meat, since it has chorizo, Asada, and chicken packed into it. Each meat with enough flavor to make it stand out from other Mulitas I have tried in the past. I would like to try the al pastor when I come back, and this time put the egg on top of the Zuperman!

My sister is an alpastor-a-holic. I am constantly researching where to find the best alpastor since she wants it whenever she comes to town. This place had been on my radar for a while and we gave it a shot last week. The alpastor was top notch! Really tasty and not greasy because they actually do it right… On the spit. All of the salsas and fixings in the salsa bar were great. We also tried the queso fundido w chorizo… Oh man very good and possibly heart attack inducing. A couple drawbacks… I love aguas frescas, theirs didnt look very enticing. Also, the prices are on the higher side for tacos. But i would go again for sure.

Bomb asada fries. Awesome delicious drizzle all over the asada fries. Chorizo Cachateda with egg. Still thinking about this awesomeness a day after. Wife loves their salsas. Not sure when they started but they now accepts credit cards.

Yahoooo finally made it here! Thanks for the free refills on you aguas frescas! I love sandia. They are still cash only so make sure you bring some paper money. They do have an ATM inside invade you forget. Everything here is pretty tasty and you really have to appreciate the fact that they get their corn tortillas straight from Mexico. Legit. The tortilla itself is great and even the condiments are as well. Three different salsas and one avocado salsa. The bright red on is HOT and the green salsa packs a punch with it’s chopped up habaneros. We ordered a chicken cachetada, asada vampiro, and shrimp taco. Cachetada has an awesome chipotle sauce, the vampiro is cheesy, and the shrimp is juicy plumpy and once again CHEESY! Prices are fair for the quality that u get.

An excellent place for good food, served fast, at a reasonable price. Is just North of DTLA –0 and thus perfect for when you’re hungry after a late-night event. There are only a few items on the menu. Most are unique, amped-up takes on traditional Mexican fast food fare featuring large portions of meat and sauces such as aioli chipotle, and garlic, and salsa raja. The staff is always very friendly and helpful in decision-making.

To be quite subtle, I’m obsessed with this place. I’ve been here several times and to my embarrassment I can say that I’ve tried most of the menu. However, my go-to orders are definitely the shrimp tacos(cheesy and well-seasoned) and the carne asada cachetada(a staple). The service is average for your local taco shop. My only gripe is that they have a few small menus by the cashier instead of a big board on the wall so you can’t decide what you want until you reach the front of the line. It’s not very efficient in my opinion. Cups for the salsas, radish, limes, etc. are not provided at the condiment bar so make sure you ask for them when you place your order. The seating inside consists of red picnic tables made for sharing but outdoor seating is also available. The parking lot is super small so your best bet is street parking(metered) or in the residential area closeby if you get lucky!

Every time I come here I overeat and eat like a pig, but no regrets… because everything I’ve tried is really good. I’ve had the tacos, carne asada fries, vampiro, cachetada, and nachos. Tacos don’t come with any garnishes so don’t forget to tell the employee to add cilantro and onions on them when you order. Everyone raves about the vampiro but it tastes just like a regular quesadilla to me: o still very delicious though. The carne asada fries and nachos are a HUGE portion. Do not try to finish these by yourself. They also have a great salsa bar with 3 sauces, limes, red onions, carrots/cucumbers, and lime. The sauce container caps are located at the salsa bar, but you’ll have to ask the employee for the sauce containers itself. Inside is very clean with 4 long tables and a couple small tables outside. If you live at the Orsini apartments next door and show them your key you can get 10% off :)

It was my first time here at the beginning of the month and I loved their food so much, I returned less than a week later. They’re always busy but their lunch line moves fast. During my first visit I ordered the carne asada french fries and two of the shrimp tacos. Just wow! The carne asada fries are served as a pretty big order. You can either share them or not, since they’re so good you won’t want to. They’re served in a large squared tray: fries topped with tender, juicy meat, creamy cilantro sauce, queso fresco and guacamole. Such an array of filling flavors. The shrimp tacos are served almost like an open face quesadilla. The corn tortillas are toasty with three jumbo shrimps per taco and melted cheese underneath them. So good! My second visit consisted of an asada taco, a «vampiro» and a small side of beans. The asada taco did not come with melted cheese like the shrimp, but I dressed it up with many of the complimentary items offered at the salsa bar. They have six different red and green salsas varying in heat and pickled onions, lime, radishes and cucumber to top off your meal. The vampiro is a quesadilla filled with your choice of meat and it has a very garlicky spread. I love garlic so this was perfect for me. I’m used to getting large sides of beans, but this small amount was perfect since everything else is already filling. Everything here is so good and the fact that they’re close to my job is just the cherry on top. Also, don’t forget to order their horchata!

One of my favorite taco places in Los Angeles. It’s different than all of the other tacos stands in LA because they’re Mexicali style tacos? I’m not too knowledgable about what is Mexicali about them, but whatever it is, it’s amazing. If you love garlic and cheese with your Mexican food, you’ll love it. My favorites are the vampiro and the shrimp tacos. The vampiro is a quesadilla with meat and the delicious garlic sauce. The shrimp tacos are soft tacos with grilled shrimp and melted cheese. Dress your stuff up in the awesome salsa bar with some extra grilled green onions and yum!!!

I first learned about this taco shop some years ago while watching a food show and I was immediately drawn to it. You know how they sensualize the food on those shows, it’s just the type of porn your stomach gets off to. So I made it a point to visit this shop at some point. Most recently I made my second trip to this place, it has been a little over a year displaced since my first visit. After my initial visit I would have easily given this place four stars but now I think a solid three are appropriate. The food still tastes the same from the first time I ate there, so it’s not a problem with consistency or a drop in quality. I think I’ve just had too many tacos in my life from both mom & pop shops and high end gourmet taco restaurants that I’ve become a little jaded. Nonetheless, the food is good, and I would gladly recommend others to try Mexicali Taco & Co. Two of my favorite menu items are the cachetada(or what others might know as a vampiro) and the quesadilla, so I would urge you to try either one if you’ve never had one. I often order al pastor and chorizo and that was the case here, but my feeling is one of indifference as it relates to taste. If you’re into today’s new food trends, say for example, adding egg over your meal, then this is definitely a place you need to try. I on the other hand am content with having tried it twice. Much rather skip the slightly over priced offerings and stick with my usual hole-in-the-wall spot. p. s. The salsa bar is on point though! Four different salsas, fresh thinly sliced radishes, pickled onions, chopped cabbage, and the other essentials. It’s got the right stuff to elevate your tacos a level or two.

I was visiting Cali from Vegas and asked a friend where to get great Mexican food.. .and she recommended this place and OMG it was BOMB! =) The nachos were on point.. .lots of cheesey sauce and tons of toppings.. .normally at other places, I run out of topping before I run out of chips.. .here it was completely different.. .I ran out of chips before I ran out of the cheese sauce and the toppings.. .LOL I am having a complete brain fart on the name of the next dish but it was queso fonduto(sp?) it was just cheesy goodness! I loved it! The salsa bar was da bomb with tons of sauces and topping to choose from. I loved it! Their horchata.. .was to die for! It was creamy without being too sweet with just a hint of cinnamon.. .overall.. .one of the best horchata that I have ever had. Service here was great. The girl taking my order was very friendly and answered all my questions even going as far as talking to the cooks to get the answers for me. Awesome customer service!!! I hope that when I go back to Cali that I will be going back here for more deliciousness!

Yum super Yum Yum! This place is pretty delicious. The service is nice, they give you a smile and greet you when you come in. You order at the cashiers and you get a number. The seating is picnic like benches, maybe having five long picnic table benches where you share seats with others. When you order your dishes, they come plain with no garnishes. There is a garnish bar where you can put all the sauces to your hearts content. I must warn you, the spicy sauce is truly spicy! The guacamole sauce is probably one of my favorites and it is not too salty. They have little cups on the side if you want to take some to go or add it when you sit down. By the entranceway, that is where you have your water cups and you serve yourself with water. They also have utensils there. Everything is pretty much self serve and you make it the way you like it. The food they have a small selection, but all the selections are great. The cheese fondue type of dish is amazing! That is if you like cheese. All their tacos are made in house I believe. It taste different, it doesn’t taste like it is preserved and prepackaged at some factory. If it is, then they must have gotten it pretty fresh because it does not crumble in your hand when you try to pick it up. Also, their food items there are not greasy. Sometimes when you have tacos that are grilled, they have a greasy layer due to the fact that it needs to be re-moisten from packaging. Here, there is no grease, that’s why I believe it is made in house. At least it tastes like it is. I will be returning here to dine!

muuuuy buenos tacos y lo mejor es que se asemejan mucho al sabor que tienen los tacos en Mexicali
