I ordered the Bun with grilled pork. The food was pretty good. Noodles were a touch too al dente for me and I would have liked a little more pork for the price. They give you enough fish sauce to go with your meal. The only other suggestion is to add some carrot for color and texture and an egg roll would make this meal perfect. I would try them again. But $ 8 for a bahn mi seems kinda high.

Orderded the pork one today. price went up to $ 8. It wasn’t as flavorful as the chicken.

I ordered the Bun noodle salad with Hawaiian BBQ chicken. Wow! Incredible! It’s the perfect proportion, but I could eat another serving. Very good flavors, cucumber, cilantro, BBQ chicken, not sure if there is basil, but I am thinking that there is. Will definitely look for their truck again!

l had the nachos with chicken. It was good I like that they add mint but my complaint Is that for $ 8 they should make sure to layer the nachos evenly because l had a lot of left over chips I couldnt eat since there was limited toppings and not a lot of sauce was present on bottom layers. It also took awhile so I think I rather just go to an actual Viet place to eat this type of food but since it was @ school it was different…

All I can say is «meh», chips were store package quality, the carnitas were cold, the Srirahe oil is more a mayo, garnish was mostly(and the majority of the dish) mint & cilantro with little scallions or jalapeños. For $ 8 would have expected a tad bit more then just a side dish; i was going to add a taco, but they were sold out as well as half the menu… gone are the days of WOW food trucks, now they are just a whimper.

Very convenient food truck, decent quality and portions, $ 8 for a big sandwich. couldn’t go wrong with it. Bánh mì — *** 12″ sandwich served on a French baguette with choice of meat, fresh cucumber slices, picked carrot and daikon, cilantro, jalapenos, mayo and scallion oil. Grilled pork tasted good.

I tried this place at the Mad Decent Block Party food truck court. This was the best part of the festival. I was hungry and the smell emitted by this kitchen was really appetizing. Festival foods are typically overpriced but the banh mi here looked to be a generous portion for $ 9.00(not your usual $ 3 chinatown banh mi, i know) and they had a vegan option, which was perfect for me. The food was ready promptly and everything tasted fresh and properly executed. The fresh veg such as the coriander and jalapeño was clean and crisp, the daikon and carrot pickles were well balanced and provided great tang and texture and the tofu itself had a delicious punchy, sweet sauce coating it. The bread, which is so important to a good banh mi, was perfect. It was toasted perfectly, crisp where it needed to be to provide support but soft and warm inside. Really a satisfying meal yet light enough for the hot weather. Service was pleasant and efficient. I would purchase from them again if i saw them at another festival or the like.

This review is based on one visit. The truck was in Culver City for lunch. When I arrived, there were about 8 people in the order line in front of me. It took 25 minutes to get to the order window. The woman taking orders was pleasant. I order the bahn mi with chicken and a single taco with pork. It took another 15 minutes to get the food. Obviously it took a while to get my food, but that does not bother me too much. I appreciate that things were cooked fresh, but it does seem like they could be a little more efficient, or hire one more person to help out. There were two of them in the truck. One was mostly cooking, and the other mostly taking orders, but the lady taking orders also help prep and deliver the orders at the pick-up window. The food was pretty good, and had the service been quicker, I’d probably give them 4 stars.

It doesn’t take much effort to not fry tofu. At first, I asked for grilled. Then, I said I’d be fine with it raw, and while they said they’d prefer not to serve it raw, I told them I can only eat grilled or raw. If I’m good with that, they ought to just serve it to me, which would’ve gotten them my money, and a five star review. Instead I’m standing here, hangry and seething. The crappy part is that previously I had given them high ratings because the guy working the window had actually allowed me to get the tofu grilled. So, that’s why I waited in line for this truck.

I really need someone to explain to me what’s going on with this truck. Everything on the menu looked stranded between healthy and fried. It was confused so I ordered simply Bui — chicken, noodles, salad. No. The order came up too quick, which means the«chicken» was simply warned. The noodles were cold, salad was — well GREEN, and I was confused if the mystery sauce wa dressing or a marinade. It wasn’t nasty, but it wasn’t good either. It was like how you feel when you drink a protein shake. Well you’re not hungry anymore. The ten dollar square purchase could have easily translated to a chicken bowl — with guac — that I could have walked off two blocks up with Chipotle. The end.

I’m picky about the authenticity of my Banh Mi sandwiches. I usually avoid the $ 10 fusion Banh Mi which is now mainstream and trending all over LA. I tend to stick with the Little Saigon style, or actually flying to Saigon, to eat my Banh Mi. All that said, this big red food truck has a very very good Banh Mi. I’ve tried both the pork and Hawaiian BBQ chicken. Perfectly toasted bread, perfectly pickled carrots and daikon. This place just made my Top 2 Banh Mi shops in LA. Great Banh Mi. Nonchalant service, complete with eye rolling staff who felt pained to cut my sandwich in half, knocks a star off.

OMG I FOUNDIT. I’ve been waiting for this moment for years. Whenever I thought about Mandoline Grill, they were always either closed or too far away, so I’d sigh and get my Vietnamese food fix elsewhere, again. But not today! I was actually on my way to grab lunch at Whole Foods, when I spotted the truck out of the corner of my eye. «Could it be?!» I wondered. I circled the block to swing back around and YES, it was there, and it was open for business. I found a parking meter with 20 minutes on it just steps away(ITWASMEANTTOBE), and had to resist skipping to the window. I didn’t even need to look at the menu, I knew exactly what I wanted. «One vegan banh mi, please!» «Anything else?» Hmm, did I want anything else? I glanced at the menu. Ooo, sriracha aioli. Do I really need that, though? Oh, what the hell. «Can the sriracha aioli be made vegan? Yes? YAY. I’ll take that on the side.» Within minutes, I was handed a foot long baton of banh mi goodness. Oh sweet jesus, it was really happening. I’ve had lots of banh mi inspired foods and sandwiches, but this was my first honest to god, authentic as hell, french baguette banh mi to end all banh mis. I was ecstatic. It’s everything I dreamed of and more. Perfect bread, fresh herbs, spicy jalapeños tempered by cool mayo, meaty tofu, and on point pickled carrot and daikon. I smothered it in sriracha aioli and didn’t regret a thing. I ate it all. I ATEITALL. And I am better for it. Now that my quest has ended, I’m not sure how to feel. Happy that I was triumphant, or sad that I now know exactly what I’m missing when I’m having banh mi inspired foods instead of the real thing? For now, I’m simply satisfied that my belly is filled with an amazing sandwich.

Get the pork banh mi sandwich. The portions were actually big! The bread was super good– not too tough or chewy. The pork was tender and the sauce was flavorful. I loved that this food truck knew how to be efficient. Most food trucks I would wait at least 10 – 15 minutes. I waited only five minutes for my food.

Madoline Grill was stationed at the Strawberry Festival in Encino this past weekend so we gave their food a go! Bahn mi with chicken was pretty tasty, five stars FOR sure! 12″ French roll was fresh, chicken was flavorful and juicy and was stuffed with all that Bahn mi good stuff: jalapeños, daikon, carrots, cucumber and cilantro. The Vietnamese coffee is Café Au Lait from the French Market(since 1860’s)-Café du monde, which is coffee and chicory. The coffee is de-li-cious, we actaully order this grind by the case for home brew so we knew the second we took a sip it was– Café Au Lait. The only thing that made me go «hmm» was the gentleman putting together our food/sammy was NOT wearing gloves, so hopefully he washed/washes his hands.

It is a Vietnamese food truck with a twist on Vietnamese traditional dishes. $ 7 per dish so not too bad. We had banh mi, grilled pork nachos, 3 tacos. Banh mi is traditional Vietnamese sandwich on french baguette. The baguette is freshly made, crunchy with choice of meat like chicken, pork or beef, mints, cilantro, pickles, and a touch of sirracha aioli. The nachos is quite tasty with grilled pork, mints, cilantro and sirracha. Choice of three tacos(pork, chicken and tofu) for $ 7 is really good deal with a twist of Vietnamese seasoning, pickle(shredded carrots, daikon and cucumbers). Check them out when they are in town!

The struggle is real: do you order your favorite standby on the menu, or try something new? #firstworldproblems #yelperproblems After thinking about it for a while, I decided to not order one of my favorite foods ever, banh mi, to try the bun(pronounced«boon»). I am so glad I decided to go out on this delicious limb! I truly wasn’t very hungry, and a big old banh mi would have been a lot with all that bread. The bun was savory, noodley, refreshing, crunchy, herby; a grab bag of textures and flavors, every bite was different. Also, maybe the best tofu I’ve ever had. I need to chase this truck down one of these days so I can try their banh mi next– and I might order both next time! #firstworldsolutions #yelpersolutions Thank you Mandoline Grill for having lots of vegan options, I love it!

Excellent Pork Banh Mi! Had a chance to work with Mandoline Grill to bring them out to my workplace yesterday. The weather was horrible, so staff turnout was awful, but Mandoline Grill delivered with quality food & services, I couldn’t have worked with a better team. I’ve heard nothing but positive reviews from my co-workers about Mandoline Grill’s visit. I’d love to bring them back, but they’re based in Burbank. I’d stop by their truck next time I see them. Thank you!

Banh mi oh my it’s good. It may have been my first banh mi experience but it definitely won’t be my last. We caught up with the truck outside Eagle Rock Brewery and I’m glad we did. We went with the Hawaiian BBQ chicken banh mi. Served on a good sized baguette piece of bread. Toasted to a nice but not overly crispy exterior. Cilantro, carrots, and jalapeño were inside among other things including a killer sauce. I wanted more and next time will make that so. Not bad for $ 7.50. We also got the five spice fries. Fries are cooked perfectly and thank god for the aioli. I was being kind of a wuss about the heat I got off a jalapeño so I nearly licked the aioli out of the plastic container for immediate relief. Again, at $ 3, not bad. I hope we run into them again to try some of the other food off the menu. The Vietnamese nachos were hard to pass up and looked amazing. Can’t go wrong with Mandoline.
