The line cook«chef» Robert Beanie has a long history of failure. He has even failed to feed his children for the past seven years. Not even money for a street taco.

Bread pudding french toast and croissant french toast were ridiculously good. Bottomless mimosas for $ 12. They’re chicken sandwich was also pretty good. Had a great time, ate inside with some friends then we relaxed in the patio area after. Definitely would come back. Service is a bit slow, but the wait was worth it.

It just looks fancy, the food isnt! Its not even close to delicious. I had the California eggs Benedict, it just had 2 slices of avocado, tomato and eggs! Nothing had flavor. The hollandaise sauce was barely even visible. Do not waste your money for nothing here. Go elsewhere!!!

Absolutely live my experience at LBK. The staff went above and beyond to make my mother’s day special especially since we just found ourselves at their door front unexpectedly. The staff spoke with the chef and the chef was kind enough to start an early dinner for us(2 hours early). The chicken and fish dinners were amazing and so were the appetizers and the desserts. Everything was perfect and it was due to the staff. Definitely recommend this place to everyone. They are worth every penny.

Went there on a Sunday morning– there was no wait– reason being soon became abundantly clear. We ordered blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon, and toast. It took over 45 minutes to receive our food. People who came in well after us were served well before us… We were not too pleased. They remedied the situation by bringing us extra bacon. The food wasn’t special– just average. It was affordable– total $ 24 for two(drinks not included)

This is one of those places that makes you wonder how the heck they stay in business. Went there with wife and son on a Sunday(Botega Louie was jam packed), the hostess was very nice and sat us down promptly on a table with no napkins or silver ware, waited 10 min. for our server to bring us 3 glasses of water in tall kamakaze glasses with short straws. We all ordered the same chicken sandwich, and waited for what seemed like 30 minutes, our waiter apologized for the delay and blamed the chicken breast for being too thick and not cooking fast(has the chef heard of pounding the breast). Anyway, two sandwiches arrived but still no silver ware, chicken breast so thick you can’t bite, and yeah, no silver this point we just ate what we could and asked for the check which took another 10 minutes to get, so I just went to the bar and paid the check so we could end the miserable experience sooner. Unprofessional with a capital U.

Best breakfast pop up in Downtown! The food is fresh and local and you can’t beat the $ 12 bottomless mimosas!

The best poached eggs on this side of the LA River. Enjoy the cornerstone of fresh cuisine. It’s clear Mr. Beane is inspired by the fresh and locally grown ingredients found at farmers markets. Give it a try and support the local flavor.

Food is ok — not great, not bad. We had the Monte Cristo and the special(grits and andouille). We were seated immediately, and things went downhill from there. We had to beg for someone to take our order — the hostess finally had to do it. When our food came, we had no silverware. The hostess told someone to get it because she was busy taking care of the tables — but he seated someone else instead. As our food got colder and colder, I finally got the silverware myself. Oh, and my plate was dusty?!?

The food liked great and the people are really nice but the service was a little spotty and the food is meh. Still a good time though with $ 12 bottomless mimosas :)

Had a great time with friends for Saturday brunch. The creativity of the menu is refreshing. My meal, Lox Benedict, was delicious… and my friends all seemed to really enjoy their meals. Will be coming back!

Came here for brunch with a large group for a friend’s birthday and had a great time over bottomless mimosas and food. Definitely recommend the California Eggs Benedict

I really hate to write a bad review and usually just decide against going back but in this case I have to. We went on a light Sunday afternoon and they were not very busy. The place was lightly decorated and since this was a great space to start with there is no complaints. Our waitress was great and I suppose that is where the 1 star comes from. The water was also good and the glass was clean so that is a plus. We ordered eggs benedict with smoked salmon and bread pudding french toast. For a restaurant these seemed like pretty reliable dishes and yet lbk didn’t seem to know how to do them. First of all both our dishes were barely warm on the inside and cold on the outside. The eggs benedict was completely off in flavor. There was way too much lemon juice used in the hollandaise sauce plus the yolk seemed to be over heated to the point of it starting to clump. The French Toast was over fried and the sauce that went on was something I would probably cook up by experimenting with random sauces like salt, coffee, chocolate and maybe some soy sauce. This was a harsh review but I am the one that is literally still dealing with heartburn and indigestion. One final bummer was the coffee is stored in a carafe so the result is luke warm coffee. Ugh!

So let me start with the ambience. It’s a beautiful location and it does get you excited for this pop up concept. Now here’s the rest: Let me just say that the menu does change on a weekly basis and our group’s experience is based on the Jan 14−17th dishes. The food was… Odd. No consistency. Small bites started out as a high for all of us with the favorite being the rice paper dumpling(ONEDUMPLINGBYTHEWAY) filled with seafood gumbo. The dish was flavorful, unique and beautiful to look at. We had a group of 17 so there were quite a bit of us and we had a bit of variations in the small bites that we ordered. Again, the dumpling stood out the most. Ok, on to the entrees… this is where I say that the Living Breathing Kitchen should die. Our dishes, although many of us ordered the same item, came out all different. My filet mignon had only a side dish of broccoli and potatoes whereas my friend had broccoli, asparagus and potato. The next plate of filet only had asparagus. Half of our group received our entrees and were almost finished eating when we realized that the entire other half of our group were still missing theirs! The chef came out himself to see how we were doing and then promptly ran back to the kitchen once he realized how much was missing and how unhappy we were. Low and behold, the server had to take everyone’s order again only to come back 10 minutes later to tell us they were sorry but were out of salmon(uh, we were basically the first group seated for dinner at this time!). What happened next you ask? Our hungry half of the table went down the street to our local taco truck and we resumed our dinner there. I do have to say that despite the entire entrée fiasco, my half of the table’s service was great. Our server placed our orders in a timely fashion, had our check split and ready for us as we asked and was very accommodating. Overall, save yourself the roller coaster of emotion and stomach pains and go get yourself a decent meal elsewhere.

I’d give it a 0.5 for effort really. The set up was pretty deceiving. Started off pretty awesome. We all waited at the bar while our table was getting set up; we got seated and ordered appetizers and they weren’t THAT bad. The dumpling was the highlight of the dried out highlighter of the evening. From there, the rest of the night seemed like we were at Magic mountain’s Superman or Freefall ride. We went really high only to fall really fast. If that makes and sense. Not knocking on the servers, but the food was remarkably horrible. Period. We ordered the mussels — which were bitter and salty, chicken — which was dry and bland, and the fillet mignon — which wasn’t too bad, but the veggie felt like they were washed in the sink of a public park in DTLA. That shit makes me want to go to more town hall meetings to levy for a better public watering hole. Seriously. In addition, I’ve never experienced such inconsistency from a restaurant in my entire life. For instance. 6 people in our party all ordered the same main dish; however, only 2 of those main dishes were the same. The others were either missing menu items, or were substituted with a surprise item. Sorry for ranting. But I felt compelled to help the world be a better place.

I loved the fact the chef came out to introduce every plate he made for us. The food was delicious and the experience was outstanding. Everyone had a great time.

Jaye and Robert were exceptional to work with. I was on a tight budget trying to put a Holiday event together for my team that would be memorable, they came up with a venue and food that absolutely blew us all away. The room was decorated beautifully, the service was first class and the food was gourmet. I’ll certainly be doing more events with them in the future!
