I had this Mandarin place two years ago and what a difference — smaller portions and went up $ 1.00. I ordered my favorite #20. Lemon Chicken with two fried wontons, an eggroll with fried rice. The eggroll’s gotten hella small. Back then, the eggroll was the size of a Taco Bell beefy burrito and now it’s the size of your pinky finger. The two wontons are now big, but wished it was two fried wontons with stuffing in it. The chicken pieces were a lot, but tasted burnt. The fried rice was greasy and very slick inside the box. What a disappointment — lunch wasn’t great today :(

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years now, and for me, its one of the best Chinese food joints in LA. Very«mom-and-pop» feel to it. Great food, and great service. Just dont come on Wednesdays, because it will be closed!

Was driving home around 6, stuck in traffic with my friend and starving. Decided to get out of the freeway at the nearest exit and get some grub, we ended up here. The location has horrible parking. It was extremely crowded and the spaces were really tight. The inside of the restaurant reminded me of a New York fast food Chinese spot, which I was actually excited about because I thought I would be getting something authentic. Sadly, the food was bland. We ordered blindly and told our inattentive waitress it was our first time here and she didn’t really make any suggestions. They served us water in a plastic container which I didn’t trust. We got the Kung Pao chicken, which has about 2 pieces of chicken in it and the rest was watercress chestnuts and onions. We asked to switch it for something else, she brought out orange chicken which was ok but we were over the place at this point. Their noodles had too many onions but they were ok. I gave up looking for good Chinese/Mandarin food in LA a while ago and thought this place would be the one, but I was disappointed. Oh, and she charged us for both plates of chicken even thought we barely picked at the first one. I didn’t feel that was good customer service but I didn’t expect any from this place to begin with.

This is a true gem in the wall for Chinese food. The moment my friend took me there, I knew he took me to the perfect Chinese food restaurant. The workers are very pleasant and very nice. If you sit down to eat they will serve you like waitresses or waiters. And they’re very accommodating with their portions of food, they also have great pricing! Once I spoke with the owner, she told me that her father side of the business, something like 50 years ago. The only problem is they’re closed One day out of the week! ;( But six out of seven days is not bad. Anything from soups to food Chinese authentic sauces and recipes. All the way to great service and pricing. I would definitely consider this to somebody that is looking for great Chinese food at low-cost. It is a hole in the wall but that’s where the gems are in LA! –Cam

Best Chinese food I have ever had. Ever. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. Since I was a toddler with my family. Not kidding. The restaurant is super tiny, about the size of my master bedroom. The restaurant may be tiny but it is always bumpin’, extremely busy. I haven’t had the chance to come here lately since I no longer live in Los Angeles, but every time I visit I make it a point to make a stop here. The food is always freshly cooked, and the service is always on point. The owner manages the register and takes your order, she’s always pleasant. My family and I have came here so much over the years that even if I haven’t came in months, she still remembers what I order every time. I look forward to my next visit.

Terrible. This is not orange chicken. It tastes like vinegar. No crunch. Looks awful just a total miss.

The lady was rude to me and said there were no small sizes when two ppl who ordered after me received their food first and had the smaller size take out. She was very friendly with thise ppl and proceeded to quick blinks irritated looks while I was asking questions and lack if eye contact. I would’ve taken that as normal behavior had she addressed anyine else in that manner but nope just me… obviously my money is no good here… I honestly dont even feel like finishing my food

The house special that is severed all day is the Best in town. A plate that has everything shrimp, chicken an beef. Also the Sauce that is covered with the house special is one of the signature sauces used in most but not all of there food really bomb kinda like a sweet teriyaki. I’m always working in different towns of Los Angeles and this place is a great place to catch a bit to eat. Fast, Delicious an Cheap.

My friend has been complaining about good Chinese food is hard to come by around here. I took her on a walk over to this little hole in the wall because I figured it looks decent from to outside, standing next to a popular little pupuseria in a janky small plaza off Hoover. The lady took our first order down but then started turning away from us and did other things. That was a little awkward. We ordered the chicken fried rice and the broccoli mushroom shrimp entrée. The takeout order took about 10 mins so it was very fast. The lady gave us a few plates and enough cutleries for takeout. She also gave us some pickled similar to Kim chi. The chicken fried rice is bland but not oily unbearingly greasy. I enjoyed that a lot with the broccoli mushroom shrimp dish. The sauce complements the fried rice. The portions are generous. It fed 2 hungry people and leftovers for a late meal. The plaza is really small so parking can be very tight. This little hole in the wall only has a few tables for seating. Bring cash !!

Been visiting LWK for about 15 years with my family. We love the assorted chow ma mein soup… just a bit spicy, beef broccoli and the kung pao chicken. Parking can be a hassle and lunch time M-F…it gets packed.

Well for a pretty small location located near lafayette park, this place can cook up some good chinese food. It may not look like the greatest spot but believe me the saying«don’t judge a book by its cover» comes to mind with a place like this. They have a pretty extensive menu, and the items i have tried haven’t disappointed yet. Usually my order will consist of kung pao chicken, shrimp fried rice, chicken chow main, sweet and sour pork, and their fried wontons. All I can is wow, the kung pao chicken has a good blend of spice for that added kick, the rice is always flavorful(even tho they could add more shrimp to it), chow main is not to greasy, yet the the spices and sauce flavors explode in your mouth, pork has a rich sauce and portions are huge. Finally these wontons, crispy just the way i like them and even better with the sauce they provide. As for service here, the lady working the register taking orders is a pretty friendly and always greets with a smile. Haven’t had a bad time here in the 5 years i been eating here so I’m happy about that. Finally the whole parking situation can be a pain, since there is a Winchells, Pupuseria, Laundromat, and a liquor store all packed in close together! Definitely should have a bigger lot, or manage the parking situation with specific spots for each of the businesses.

Due to its proximity, I’ve been to Little Wang Kung more times than I’d like to admit. Over the years, I’ve probably tasted most of the items on the menu, always with the wishful expectation that«this dish» will be the one to make me a true fan. Unfortunately, I never encountered«that dish». At this stage of the game, I’ve pretty much given up on 90+% of the dishes they serve. The beef is of dubious quality and the pork is served in such minuscule portions you need a magnifying glass to discern them among the other ingredients. Sauces are heavy handed, perhaps in an effort to camouflage the the overall blandness of the food. Not too much love for their food in Little Wang Kung’s kitchen. It tastes like what it is: cheap, generic, assembly-line Chinese food. In my opinion, there are about three decent dishes: the regular chachiang mein(hard to ruin noodles in black bean sauce), the hot and sour soup, and the won ton noodle soup(possibly the best item on their menu). Everything else is just meh. Actually, beyond meh.

I used to order here when I worked downtown, I went the other day when I was getting my car serviced, and saw a ‘C’ grade on their window. I looked on the la health dept, it said«disease transmission carrier» and all of these other disgusting violations. STAYCLEAR!

Hole in the wall Chinese place. I like this place. Lunch special is a deal. $ 4.25 and I got zechwan shredded beef with wonton, eggroll, soup, and fried rice and the food is decent. You can get two meals for under $ 10!!! I wish this place has more tables. Also parking is difficult.

Yes its a ghetto hole in the wall in a shady neighborhood, but the food and prices are legit. I am not gonna order and eat it there, but its perfect for take-out. The food comes out fast and is always really hot(temperature). The one thing that sux is that you have to order white rice on the side cuz it doesn’t come with a dish. wtfawk? Parking may be hard to find because the front lot is always full. It’s not something I want to rave about, cuz after all its just chinese food. But I do prefer it over the already made chinese restaurants where the foods been sitting there for hours.

It’s great value for the price. A big meal with 2 fried«wontons» which has nothing in them, a small vegetable fried spring roll, and a soup(pretty good). The soup does not do take out because they don’t have CONTAINERS for them. I understand Chinese people, see? The staff was nice, by Chinese standards. They even gave me sweet and sour sauce. A lot of it. On a small dish. It tasted like it would someday give me cancer. But the good news is I only used a little bit to dip the wontons in. For $ 4.66(kind of an unlucky number no?) it was a great deal! And I even had a bit to take home. :)
