A great wealth of resource and information provided by a volunteer run organization, the Little Tokyo Public Safety Association. They are also a LAPD drop-in center and can take reports of incidences. Great place to get maps.

Great staff and volunteers! I had a great experience visiting the Koban. I felt welcomed and able to ask questions about the area without feeling«dumb.» There are a lot of brochures, maps, newsletters, flyers, event postcards, magazines, and newspapers to keep you informed about events in the Little Tokyo, Japanese community. The Koban is small, but it’s at the end of 1st St, at the corner. There’s a gold sign that looks kind of like a sheriff’s badge out front. It looks small from the outside, but inside it’s very deep. The Koban also participates in annual festivals like the Tanabata Festival. There are volunteers who help to make the big decorations for this special holiday. I have seen the same volunteers at various festivals throughout the year at a tent giving instructions to kids and adults on how to create the beautiful flowers to put onto the decoration. If you’re ever lost or wanting information about Little Tokyo or upcoming events, the Koban and Visitor’s Center is the place to go!

It was a rainy Tuesday and there was only one old gentleman inside. Every advice he gave turned out non-trustworthy. We ended up walking around in circles trying to find the stores he recommended. Unilocal was much more dependable!

Mixed feelings. The ppl were very friendly and helpful. They gave me a map and answered my question when i asked about good ramen place. The only problem was that their recommended ramen place sucked… but i guess everyone’s taste buds are diff… If your traveling in little tokyo, i would definitely stop by here even just to get a map. U’ll get a more complete experience.

found myself in Little Tokyo and just walked into this place. I felt immediately like I had entered the home of good friends. I told them that I was on a trip for wedding anniversary and they made great restaurant suggestions. I left with a map, some fine tips, and a feeling like I had lucked into the heart of Little Tokyo. Indeed I had.
