This place and I have lots of history togetherl. Serious! I’ve been coming here since grade school which brings many nostalgic memories. So much fun coming here growing up with families, friends, and perhaps – old flames. Joke… Haha! Anyway, this hole in the wall have so much food and you better be starving to death when you decide to visit. People of all ages and from different culture love coming here. They have the best pansit! It’s so simple but so perfect to taste! I love that it’s mostly noodles than meat. You can have it with pork, chicken or beef or shrimp with a touch of sliced fish balls.(If you’re a true Flip, you’ll know what this is) Anywho, their siopao? Oh my goodness… One is not enough because they have their special plum sauce that’s very addictive. I gotta get here soon! That’s all I’m saying! I can’t wait to get my hands on these. I can’t say enough how wonderful this place is and I come home to this all the time. This place is one of the best and will always have a special place in my heart. It’s still affordable and they do cater for parties but for take out. We’ve always ordered from here for all occasions-at least a million times and they are very generous with their portions. True story. If and when you come to Los Angeles, You gotta come in! It’s got lots of history and you will discover your favorites. This joint has been around for 34 years. Okay, I’m Done!

This place is great for an inexpensive meal. You can see exactly what you get and the portions are huge. I’m a big fan of the beef stew. Everything is Delicious!

The pork adobo, and Filipino menudo was excellent! Just like home, actually the best Filipino restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. The ambitious is not the best, but it is like a old soul food diner. I will come back again

A little quaint filipino eatery… very friendly… stopped by there while walking around Filipinotown on a cold winter night. Went and ordered one of each of the dessert menu. Only spent under $ 5. Definitely recommend!

Not the cleanest place not the nicest place. It’s a typical Chinese fast food restaurant with a Philippines twist to it. Don’t expect to have beef and broccoli or orange chicken. There’s other great things here. The beef stew was alright. I saw a lot of fried foods and stir fries that I haven’t had a chance to try. The color of the food is a bit on the dark side, but don’t let that alarm you. It’s not like a typical Chinese fast food place where you get vibrant greens, yellows, reds and whites on your food.

Haha… oh man. Ambiance Parking | Street parking. It all depends on the day but if there’s no major events, you should be good. Seating | All seating is inside and can generally seat about 4 – 6 people per table with a max occupancy of about 20 people. Feels | Nothing special really. It’s a great place for a grab and go. You can hang out here as well if you want to wait for the LA traffic to simmer down. Food: Fish Sisig(Meh, I’ve had better) Kinda disappointed. It was pretty dry, it was either old or just stayed too long in the warmer. BBQ Chicken(Meh, I’ve had better) Nothing positively memorable. It fed me but it was quite dry. Lechon Adobo(A-OK) Extremely sauce which went well because I was able to poor it on my plain rice. Customer Service | Standard. Not much of a greeting but my service was reasonable. Overall | 3 stars. Where’s the love in the food? Service was decent, price was reasonable, but the food could’ve been better. Who knows, maybe I selected a wrong batch. The place filled me up and I did manage to study for a while. What’s good is that it’s close to Unidad Park but if you’re in other parts of Old-Hi Fi, I’d recommend exploring elsewhere. TL;DR Tips: * Feet off the chairs! * Come early so they don’t run out of noodles or other food items. * They charge for card.

Short changed and disrepected by not giving me my $ 0.01 proper change, happened in multiple visit. Owner/cashier gave a straight face without giving any explanation and went straight sitting down in her corner muching on her snacks. AVOIDTHISPLACE — rude and disrespectful owner and servers, no Parking, sub-par and old food, hot and muggy, dusty/dirty place.

I was in the area and wanting to beat Ryan B to this place. So, I made a slight detour on my way home. STREETPARKINGONLY. I walked in and yes, this is a really small hole-in-the-wall place. Like any«fastfood» place in the Philippines, they have everything out on the counter buffet style. Nothing really looked appetizing to me maybe because the food looked like it’s been out since lunch time and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. I smiled and said hi to the server and she. Well, she did say hello and asked what I wanted. Just in the flattest tone possible. Ate(older sister) must be tired. Fried rice(2 stars) — looked dry and nothing to take special notice of. Might as well have gotten white rice. Lechon Kawali(2 stars) — Filipino equivalent to Chinese Roast Pork Belly or some versions of Mexican chicaron, this was also a disappointment. Just pure fat and no flavor. I’ve made Roast Pork Belly with JA and I must say he seasoned it way better. Also, I took mine to go but they didn’t pack me any dipping sauce. Dinuguan(4 stars) — pork in blood stew. Oh, the horror! It tastes good. #sorrynotsorry This is the same as Mexican mole except, yeah, its not chocolate you’re eating. Lumpia(2 stars) — Sigh. No. Turon(3 stars) — Cold because it’s been out for goodness knows how long but I can’t say I don’t like it enough to down 2 of them while waiting for the pancit. It’s a Filipino snack made of thinly sliced bananas and a slice of jackfruit, dusted with brown sugar, rolled in a spring roll wrapper and fried Pancit bihon guisado(2 stars) — thin white rice noodle dish with chicken, scallions, carrots, soy sauce. It’s something you can eat with white rice(yes, I love carbs) or by itself. Either way, the flavor just wasn’t there for me even after I squeezed lemon on top. At least they gave me lots of noodles and meat. In conclusion, the hype didn’t live up to its name.

It’s OK, but nothing to write Unilocal about. I’ve had a one item lunch for $ 5. The Pork was good, cooked well with decent flavor if not a little overly fatty. The eggrolls are not Philopino lumpia which is a downright shame.

Specifically go to this establishment for their Vegetable Lumpia, Lomi, and Chicharon Bulaklak! It’s a hole in the wall in that you would never expect it to pack such a great punch. Best thing to do is call ahead and order what you want. They have great prices for holiday dishes of the above mentioned foods and never fail with how crunchy their Vegetable Lumpia is. Staff and service is very quick and sweet. I like the regulars and it’s an easy place to hang out and stay out of the summer heat or after mass. My experiences have always been positive and their Vegie Lumpia can’t be matched.

Its your typical«karinderya» nothing glamorous about it… their health Grade is a B. Ive tried the miki bihon, and its bland… i was hoping it would be better. I’ll try more of their different pancits, and ill keep this updated. But for now… Neh.

Hard to believe but I have been eating at this little eatery since the 90s when I used to work in the financial district downtown. It was cheap eats then and it’s still cheap eats now, even taking into account inflation. It’s a little hole in the wall place with a few tables and seating combo similar to those found at Winchell’s donuts. It’s typical turo-turo which means point-point in tagalog, the Filipino language. You can order a one or two item combo for either $ 3.75 or $ 5.25. Funny, I remember when the two item combo was $ 3.75 back in the day. You can also get some desserts like turon for $ 0.50 which is a real steal but I shouldn’t write this because if they read it, they may raise the price, lol. They also have siopao which are white dough with meat inside both heated for immediate consumption or frozen to take home for later. I’ve purchased a pack of 12 before and they are pretty good with having choices of chicken, bola-bola(meatball) or beef. They are also kind of known for their noodle dishes such as pancit and miki bihon. I used to always see people coming in to pick up trays of their noodle orders while I was eating there. The selection is somewhat limited compared to what you can get at some other turo-turo places and I also don’t feel it’s the greatest representation of the cuisine taste-wise but it’s still decent and the price is reasonable. I would not go out of my way just to eat here specifically but if I’m in the area and I was looking for a quick, cheap meal, I wouldn’t hesitate to drop in again.

Pancit, Siopao, Shumai and Mami were were the influence of the chinese to the filipino menu. I guess this is the reason why this place positions it self as a filipino chinese restaurant. Ive been eating here for 8 years now and can say that they have been true to their quality of food. The Beef mami is perfect, pancit canton is also one of my favorite, thier shumai is larger than traditional chinese shumai, they also have filipino favorites like dinuguan, menudo occasional chicken tinola, chicken bbq, spicy chicken and one of my favorite their chop suey. Most of the menu is already available in the cafeteria setting and just do your selection of 2 to 3 entrees + rice plus your choice of soda or water will cost you about 7 $ But there are items that you need to custom order and wait for 5 minutes and you will have piping hot meal. Yes you can actually custom order your pancit,(miki, bihon, sotangon or canton) wet or dry, pork or chicken, beef, seafood, or even vegetarian. The mami can also be done this way. Pretty much if you want good food and you want to get the most bang for your buck this is the place to go.

Little Ongpin is a typically small, unassuming Filipino eatery. It, & its Staff don’t pretend to be more than they are. The Owner also cooks many a time & her Son makes the business decisions. It has about 9 small tables. As soon as you walk in, you see one Bain Marie stocked with entrees favored by locals: fish, chicharron, pancit. They offer Arroz Caldo & other Ongpin regional taste treats. At the corner of Union & Beverly, LA of course.

Order the miki bihon and dinuguan! That’s their specialty. Sooo delicious! No other places compare(and I’ve tried it at Max’s, Goldilocks, Arco, etc). Trust me, it’s the best. I also get siaopao asado which is also good. I go here all the time. Love Little Ongpin!

My Pinay friend always tells me not to go here. She even refuses to go here with me. Grabbed another Pinay to go with me. Ordered pancit, panakbet, dinuguan, turon and melon sa malamig. Pancit: bland and not evenly cooked. I found uncooked noodle strands. Panakbet: recommended by the guy behind me, this dish is actually good. I kinda like it. Dinuguan: I’ve been wanting to try this dish. It’s not bad if I close my eyes. The color is scary =( Lomie: overcooked and average @ best. I am used to eating authentic Chinese noodle. Turon: eh. What is dinuguan? Stop being a sissy! It’s pork & blood stew. Mine has internal organs(not a problem) but the color is not very appetizing. I had a hard time of eating it with my eyes open. Dinuguan is a little bit too HALLOWEEN-Y to me. I guess I am no vampire =P The workers are super nice. I bought 4 turons and got 5 when I opened the bag. Thank you. $ 10 minimum for credit card. 3 stars! Maybe I got the wrong dishes. Parking is horrible. I circled the block many times before getting a parking space. Little Ongpin is almost yummylicious!

I came here late afternoon and it felt 10 degrees hotter inside than outside! It was very unappetizing and uncomfortable. Luckily, it was only in the 80s that day. There are two portable air condition systems on the wall, but the place was practically empty so the lady behind the counter opted to have them off. I’m all for saving electricity, but when customers walk in, please turn those things on! The place would’ve been bearable with the AC on. When the lady behind the counter asked if we were having the food here or to-go, I was praying that we’d take it to-go, but unfortunately we ate there. I felt like I was being cooked! Other than the scorching heat and the unkempt tables and general untidy feel to the place, the food is pretty good! It’s traditional and not very salty! This place is cheap! You can get 3 entrees with rice and/or chow mein for $ 6.25. It’s 2 entrees for $ 5.25. WOW! Amazing, and that includes the option of getting bangus and/or lechon kawali as an entrée, no extra charge. WOW! The bangus is a little smaller than usually, but for that cheap, amazing! So you walk in and there’s a counter, like cafeteria style, and you pick what you want. You can also order off the menu against the wall and they will bring it out to your table. Drinks are about $ 1 – 2. They also have siopao, taron, suman, puto, leche flan, etc. You name it. Mostly everything except halo-halo. I like the miki bihon. It was slightly oilier than I thought, but they fill it with a lot of meat and fillings. They also do catering! Lastly, parking is street parking. Mondays/Tuesdays before 3pm are street sweeping days, so keep an eye out.
