Totally mediocre dinner time experience. I was the only one in the place and still my dinner took quite awhile to arrive. The steamed veggie dumplings were soggy and flavorless, and my yellow curry with chicken was populated by veggies that tasted either straight from the freezer or a can, tough flavorless chicken and a curry sauce that was more sweet than anything else. A truly disappointing Thai food experience. It’s too bad, too, because I like to support local establishments and there’s a real lack of excellent Thai on the eastside.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It was walking distance from where I was staying, plus they deliver, which is so convenient. Unfortunately, the food is just ok. It’s on the salty side. I ordered wonton soup and pad see eew. The regular sized bowl of soup seemed slightly overpriced(though probably not for Silverlake.) Total cost for my meal was $ 17 with tax and tip, and it wasn’t a large amount of food. I was also sad that the pad see eew had regular broccoli, instead of Asian broccoli. It just doesn’t taste right. The server was friendly and the food was ok. I just don’t know if I’d bother eating there again, unless I didn’t have use of a car.

We ordered via delivery. Food was good and the delivery was pretty quick(about 35 minutes). The spring rolls with the homemade peanut sauce were quite tasty. We’ll definitely order again.

This place is a Silverlake institution not to be missed! I grew up here and go every time I’m home. Get the spring rolls, magic string beans, yellow curry and Thai Iced Tea with almond milk and you will be in food coma heaven.

Great Pad Thai, good prices, and a quaint, pleasant atmosphere! The patio has a nice tree canopy with a warm ambiance in the evening. The noodles were tasty and cooked just right to preserve their texture.

My company orders in from Leela Thai almost weekly! The lunch specials are truly great value — and they always have prompt deliveries, with a very courteous and friendly delivery driver, who always has a smile on his face :) Highly recommend for office lunch orders — but also all around quick meal you’ll be happy with!

We love Leela Thai! Its a pleasure to dine-in and they have the sweetest little outdoor patio. Whats really on point though, is their delivery. It is time and again delivered earlier than expected, always fresh, hot, and delicious, and there has never been an issue with any missing items, etc. Friendliest delivery drivers too. The Pad Kee Mao(Drunken Noodles) and Spicy Fried Rice are my go-to choices. Both always taste phenomenal. They also have some of the best thai iced coffee/tea that I’ve ever had. Tip: Dining in is cash-only(last time I checked) but they do have an ATM. However, you can get around the cash only situation with delivery or pickup by ordering through Eat24! Here is to wishing Leela Thai the best in the coming new year and we hope they remain a staple of Silver Lake for years to come!

When you have a 5×5′ sign above your establishment that says DELIVERY and then you don’t provide that advertised service, by definition I think that’s called false advertising. Also, when you call the restaurant to complete your delivery order, they say they don’t accept card for delivery(in the year 2015) and redirect you to a 3rd party site to complete your order and then the 3rd party site says they too can’t complete your order and the restaurant won’t take the order over the phone!!! Isn’t the point of a 3rd party delivery site to increase sales? Welp, looks like we won’t be assisting in that increase and the curt and disinterested response we received from the restaurant«host» further helps in our advocacy of supporting your courteous and correctly advertised competitors. Thanks!

Although the food quality has gone down since the owners switched, it’s still delicious and I still love it! Cash only is kind of a bummer but if you order through eat24 you can pay w card! I usually get delivery(it’s free) and it gets here in a timely manner!

I am so disappointed in the experience I had tonight. I usually love this place and go there a lot since I live nearby. I ordered on Eat24 and the food arrived about 30 min later. The older thai man had me sign my receipt and gives me my food, and before I can even say«hold on while I grab some cash,» he goes«you have a tip for me?» so sternly and rudely. I was SO taken aback. I completely understand that deliveries come with tips — I forgot mine right inside my door and was going to grab it! I didn’t even know how to respond! He just kept saying«where’s my tip? are you going to give me a tip? no tip?» So I said«not anymore» after having my jaw dropped for a good few minutes. He told me «next time, come get the food yourself» and then kept saying«why no tip!?» as I retreated back into my house. Dude, I understand if you had a rough night, but as someone who has worked in service((i mean, who among us hasn’t)), this is SO unacceptable. I am sad that this happened… this was one of my favorite local spots, and the women who work there are so nice. I don’t think I will return.

this is like the dirty habit you have because you love thai food, and come here because its so cheap, even if it’s not the best food… it meets the basic standards for Thai food, but you’ll find frozen peas and carrots in your curry if you catch my drift. Also the cash only thing is kind of a drag, even if they have an atm here. I come here on the days where I need to get my Thai fix for $ 8.

Lunch Special is always what the Dr. ordered! The shrimp curry is yummy. The pad see yew is the best and they always use white meat chicken which I love. And you can bring doggies on the patio which is awesome. Service is awesome and keep coming back because I just love the vibe.

I have been to Leela Thai twice. Cute outdoor patio with lots of greenery and foliage, perfect for a summer evening. First time I went I got the chicken and vegetables. The second time I went was with a big group of friends and we had several dishes. The one dish that really stands out was their Ginger Beef, you could really taste the ginger. And I also loved the Mango and sticky rice dessert. They only accept cash, and there is an ATM machine in the back. I really like this place and will be back again to enjoy the adorable patio very soon.

I’ve never eaten at the restaurant but I’ve ordered lunch from Leela Thai a few times. It’s pretty much my go to when I want a cheap lunch while I’m working a long shift in Silverlake. The food isn’t amazing but it’s pretty good for the price you pay. They also have vegan and vegetarian options.

I give this place a 4 only for the fact that everyone is so close to each other(table wise). But the ambiance was so authentic, so beautiful. That tree tho. But 5 star for food. I love Thai food and have been exploring different places and this place is very affordable and food is PLENTY like. So plenty that I can’t believe how full I am. If you’re in silver lake do yourself a favor and check this out.

I was on a little road trip with my roommates on our way back down to Orange County, and figured we’d get off the freeway and dine somewhere outside of the OC. We ended up pulling out onto Silver Lake Blvd.(to much my excitement) and hungrily/desperately searched for a place to eat at 8pm on a Sunday. I located the closest, affordable and open restaurant and was led to Leela Thai(much to our Filipino/Indonesian souls’ pleasure!). We parked along the residential street behind the restaurant and was immediately charmed by the cute, cozy and authentic décor/setup of the restaurant. It was an easy drop-by for locals and small and cozy enough for chats with friends. The food was DELICIOUS. Authentic and tasty. We ordered the Pad Thai(so flavorful, rich and tasty), Yellow Curry(perfectly spiced and tasty) and Pineapple Fried Rice. The service was so friendly(they thought we were friends/recognized us from before). They were super attentive to us and served us our food in about 10 minutes after ordered(which we devoured in about the same amount of time – us starving college students, hah). Upon dining, we noticed we were dining with Rose Abood(who played the Hispanic teacher in Disney’s That’s So Raven!). We were a bit excited but said hi to her as she walked out. While dining, overheard other talks that seemed to be of people working in the entertainment industry, talking about managers and whatnot. So very LA. Overall, I LOVE the Silver Lake. Whenever I come to LA, I somehow always find myself back here. And I am NEVER disappointed. Leela Thai brought such a nice personal touch to our dining experience here. YUM.

I have lived in the Silverlake/Hollywood area for more than half my life and Leela Thai has been there for most of it. Months or years may go by that I do not eat under their majestic and soul soothing tree, but when I am able to make the pilgrimage to Leela’s, I find a welcoming warmth, radiating like the coals in a hearth. The golden shrimp arrived and my wife reached foodie climax. Perfect crisp. Sweet chili sauce made with grandmothers love and sprinkles of mana. Later the yellow curry with chicken and veggie Pad Thai introduced the love of my life to flavors that induce feeling exclusive to adult video stores. We had the glow of Buddha at the end of our meal. A full belly satisfied our carnal instinct. Leela sedated the beast within us. I am thankful I was able to give my love the food equivalent of my passion for her. Leela provided the atmosphere that whisks you to a foreign land of peace and savory aromas and the flavor palate that tantric energy lives on.
