Hello everyone! Man what can I possible say about this place? If you love Lawry’s then you’re probably gonna love this place! However the location in Downtown L.A. can get packed! We’re not the only ones who love this place! There are severeal items on the menu that you can get from turkey sandwiches to prime rib sandwiches(my favorite to get here) to the traditional prime rib with mashed potatoes and creamed corn. I have gotten the sandwich a couple of times now and it is always good here! The meat is very tender and flavorful and the ciabatta bread that it comes on just adds to the flavor because it just absorbed the au jus! The meal also comes with a side of chips which are cooked just right and a pickle with sides of au jus and horseradish sauce which when combined make the best flavor! Highly recommend it peoples!!! Have fun!

I scored some tickets to a Lakers game and was wondering where to eat. I was with my wife and daughter and her boyfriend so a loud bar was not going to cut it, fast food was not an option and we wanted to keep the price reasonable. Lawry’s Carvery seemed to hit the mark for us. Located right in the heart of LA Live, the location could not be beat. You order at the cash register and pour your own soft drinks and a waitress brings out the food. Lots of tables, people watching and decent grub. They are famous for their prime rib and we were not disappointed. Game nights are crowded and they were obviously prepared. The food came out right away but did not taste like trough food. Killer prime rib, Mac n cheese, Caesar salad and a couple of beers. Not cheap but reasonable for the quality and location.

Service was great. However, I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich. There were a few scraps of pork on a microwaved bun. For the love of God, put some pork on the sandwich! This is a case where too many suits spoil the restaurant chain. Never going back,.

Yay my 500th review! And I will be writing it for a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try for years. I’m a big fan of the real Lawry’s on Fairfax and I’m always in attendance at a Kings game at Staples Center that’s situated in LA Live, like this eatery. So for years this place has been calling to me. I think it took a while for me to try this place because my Kings friends want to drink, as do I. This place doesn’t serve liquor. you can’t go to a game with friends with out a little bit to drink before hand! Other than the fact that you can’t get an alcoholic beverage, my only other knock on the place, is that it kind of cheapens the Lawry’s experience. You know from the get go that the concept is to have a fast-casual Lawrey’s experience. That being said, it should feel a little more upscale than eating at chipotle. The taste of the food more than makes up for the couple of shortcomings this place presents. one of my favorite indulgences, is prime rib. In true Lawrey’s fasion, the prime rib was delicious and made how I ordered it. I went for the 12oz because I feel like you should go big or go home. For my sides I went with the double broccoli. I of course wanted to get mashed potatoes but felt like I should keep it healthy and as paleo as possible. I will definitely return for dinner before a game. my advice is to get here early so you can do happy hour next door at Tom’s Urban, then have a good dinner here.

Unilocal challenge 2016(6⁄100) I always come here since its the perfect place to go eat before any event at the Staples Center. Last night was the pregame meal before the Laker game! I LOVE Lawry’s! The Carvery is a more casual version and is known for their Prime Rib Dip Sandwiches on brioche bread. I also love their Mac and Cheese! It’s addicting… Since I’ve been here so much I wanna say the prime rib here is not as good as the OG Lawry’s in Beverly Hills. It’s always pretty busy at this location. Same as the Carvery at South Coast. I STILLEATITANDITSTILLBOMB

Cool place to stop and have some good food before a kings game. The food is pricey for the type of restaurant this is, but it sure is tasty. Have never been to the original Lawry’s, so I couldn’t compare them. But I will say this is one of the better value restaurants at LA Live.

I got the prime rib and it was absolutely delicious! It came along with a horse radish sauce that paired very well with the meat. The cole slaw also had a very nice flavor and it doesn’t have the traditional mayo sauce and was very refreshing. The entrée also came with one side and I got the creamed corn. The creamed corn was very good and nice and sweet. The meal was well worth it and very filling.

Came here for dinner with my family before a Laker game. Luckily, we arrived just before the pre-game dinner crowd, so we avoided staying in a long line. I ordered a bulgogi type sandwich that came with a side of chips. A side of pickle was supposed to be served with the meal, but it looks like was forgotten. The sandwich tasted ok, though I wish the bulgogi flavor was stronger. The chips were definitely addicting! Indoor seating fills up quickly so we had our meal outside. Just wish the staff turned on the heat lamps, as my family and our food got cold fast. Overall, this is a decent place to grab a quick bite before an event in LA live, as other places had longer wait times.

The sandwich was good, albeit small with a small serving of chips and a soggy pickle for $ 20, which is absurd. However, I had a bigger problem with the customer service here. It was a busy night, as I’m sure many are at LA Live, but the woman behind the counter swiped my card to pay, said it was not taken, and took it from me to swipe again. I made a joke about not being double charged, and then she showed me two separate transaction receipts that showed I was double charged. She said it would go away, even though I saw two separately generated receipts(2 charges). I asked for the manager, who comes over in his white chef’s coat and he asks what the problem was. I started to say I was double-charged, and he freakin’ SHUSSHES me?!? I hadn’t even raised my voice, and that was extremely rude. His name is Jeffrey Brown, and after I told him the charge better go away or he’ll hear from me, he told me not to «threaten him». This happened Friday night, 12⁄18. It is now Tuesday, 12/22, and now I have to call the credit card company since that second charge didn’t come off my bill. For a place that prides itself on its quality, this is a bad look.

Their prime rib is soooo good!!! A must have when coming here. I didn’t like the Thai Ck salad much, wouldn’t get that again. Peanut sauce was too sour to be the dressing for this dish. But everything else was delicious! Great service by the way! Never seen a food runner so attentive !

Came here after the LA car show. Second time here. Disappointed in the prime rib. The sides though? Different story. Got the 8oz prime rib medium with creamed corn and macaroni and cheese. The prime rib was«well done» despite asking for medium. Felt like I was chewing on leather. Was so hungry, I didn’t complain. I should have though. I thought the creamed corn and macaroni and cheese were on point. I would come back just for the sides alone.

Ordered to go and it took 25 minutes. They seemed very disorganized. My salad had no dressing and they forgot the horseradish for the prime rib. Meat was rather tough too. There were several people there having the same problem.

Delicious pulled pork sandwich with a side of chips and ¼ of a sliced pickle. My friend’s turkey sandwich was good, too. I mean it tasted like a freshly made Turkey sandwich. We went on a Friday evening and had about 1 hour and 45 minutes to spare before our movie. We chose this place after realizing most other restaurants, near LA Live, had big lines out the door and were very busy inside. Lawry’s had a line, but not many patrons in the restaurant. We waited in line for maybe 10 minutes, and less than 15 minutes for our food. As we walked to our table, I realized many people had ordered a side of Mac n cheese. Soooo, Mac n Cheese is on my list of items to try for next visit. All in all, I recommend this place if you want to grab a decent and delicious meal before your movie.

Tried Lawry’s for the first time prior to seeing the Clippers take on the Kings at Staples Center. My friend and I both ordered different carved beef options… mine was the Bulgogi version while my friend had the more traditional BBQ variety) both served with Chips). Although the flavor was pretty good, the helping was quite small for the price and did not really stand out compared to other BBQ places. Convenient for Staples Center visits… but with so many options to choose from in the area, I may not rush to go back.

Looking for a tasty, yet casual dinner or lunch experience? Lawry’s did the trick for me and I think it’ll do the same for you. It’s one of those order at the counter and they bring you your food type of places. It makes for a quick and efficient meal. I had the King of Clubs. Delicious, if not the largest sandwich in the world. For $ 11 with a side of chips this is a pretty good deal for the area. I also added on the mac n cheese and I’m glad I did as it was terrific. Definitely get it! Though I never knew the spice-maker also had a restaurant, I enjoyed myself.

I have always wanted to try Lawry’s but never got the chance, so when we caught a game at Staples Center, this place was perfect for dinner before the game! This is a more casual version, which serves sandwiches but also gives the chance to try their prime rib plate. Me and my boyfriend both got the 8 oz prime rib plate with their famous coleslaw and a side of our choice. I love how soft and tender the prime rib was, and tasty without any condiment what so ever. The price is very good, and they also have beverage deals($ 3 a beer I believe) some hours before game night, so that’s perfect if you want to have some drinks before the game.

4 years a ban! I lifted the Boycott /Divestment /Sanctions to placate my dude food pal. He’s really picky about his Chinese food but joyfully eats American slop. So for $ 20 — I got a small portion of prime rib plated with an iceberg salad. Forgettable stuff but actually edible compared to the prior atrocity — one star bump up. I’d suggest walking over to Ralph’s Fresh Fare and buy the prime rib meal there. I was punished for not honoring National Hamburger Day!

I wish there was one of these closer to where I live. But I guess I can’t really complain since I live pretty close to the Lawry’s Prime Rib(and I’ve been there numerous times). So naturally, that’s what I’m comparing this place to. I think of this place as an express version of Lawry’s. You don’t get the whole Lawry’s experience, but it comes pretty darn close. The ambience is well suited for the sporting events that take place right across the street at the Staples Center. Not as classy as the Beverly Hills Lawry’s, but very well fitting for its location. They take your order right at the door. I went for the platter meal. $ 24 gets you an 8 oz. cut of prime rib(with au jus and horseradish), a signature side dish, and coleslaw. I chose creamed corn as my side. The prime rib was DELICIOUS. Almost exactly like the one from Lawry’s Prime Rib(gonna use LPR from now on). It’s a tad bit less tender, but other than that, the taste was exactly what I had hoped for. The meat was cooked perfectly medium rare, and every bite had a ton of flavor. Lawry’s au jus is THEBEST. The creamed corn was just as good. I thought the creamed corn here had a slightly more peppery flavor than the one from LPR, but I thought that was nice in offsetting the buttery rich flavor of the cream. I substituted the coleslaw for mashed potatoes(I can’t remember if I had to pay extra). The mashed potatoes are not as good as the one from LPR. It was definitely chunkier, and they added horseradish or something into it so that it had a weird wasabi like aftertaste. But I guess that’s just a personal preference. Other than that, this place is the perfect stop for a quick meat fix. The service is here is very fast and our food was out in less than 10 min. The prime rib was delicious, as was the creamed corn. You miss out on LPR favorites like the spinning bowl of salad and their signature bread pudding, but you save $ 15 so I definitely think it’s still worth it. The pricing here is amazing for what you get. I can’t wait to come back!

Took advantage of the Dark Night LA Live $ 5 Special with a half sandwich and chips. Being that it was Lawry’s I was stoked and felt like I had getting a huge deal but I was juked. Don’t get me wrong, the food was decent and the service was good but it wasn’t necessarily a deal. You can have a full order of the same sandwich and chips for $ 10 so I’m not sure what deal I really got besides being able to order half a sandwich. I ordered the Green Peppercorn Dip(Medium Rare). The food came really quickly so that was a plus. After taking a picture, I delve right in. Grabbed it, dipped it in the peppercorn sauce and took a bite. It was… OK. The meat looked more medium than medium rare, the bun wasn’t toasted, which made the sandwich feel heavy, and the sauce had some sour notes. I wish I had ordered the regular dip so that I could take advantage of au jus instead. Seating outside was ample but all of the tables were somewhat dirty and the seats were all decorated with the bird droppings. Didn’t expect that from an establishment like Lawry’s. If you plan on coming during the Dark Nights LA Live, try to get here early because the line gets really long later into the night and sit inside if you want to avoid sitting or leaning on bird droppings…

Dry & small portions. When asked how my dinner was, the other night when I stopped in to Lawry’s before the Clipper/76er’s NBA game at Staples, that’s my response. Dry and small portions. No sticker shock on my part — after all, it’s a Lawry’s establishment. However, I didn’t expect my barbecue brisket to be served dry. Taste was ok but if you look at my pic, you can definitely see how small the sandwich was. I felt like I paid for a kids’ meal. Mac & Cheese was bland. Even adding salt didn’t help. Anyway — no table service. You place your order and find a seat. Food is brought out to you and then other than your table being cleared, it’s self serve from that point on. Overall, I didn’t care for my visit to this location. Staff was professional, but not really friendly. Food did not meet my expectations considering the Lawry’s name. As for the cost, as I mentioned before, it wasn’t a surprise — I just know better for next time. Which I haven’t decided yet, whether there will be one or not …
