LAPD Northeast Community Police Station

This review is really for the new building that just opened on San Fernando Road at Treadwell.
Northeast finally got their new building way after almost all other divisions of the LAPD. It is beautiful, modern, stream-​liney architecture.
however, and this is a big problem, there is NO parking lot for visitors and/​or the public. so the review should really read 2.5 stars.
you have to park at Staples down the street & cross San Fernando. Luckily there is a stop light at Treadwell.
the community liaisons who staff the desk seemed pleasant enough. certainly not the super-​nasty desk sergeant who dismissed me condescendingly when i tried to report being attacked by a tenant in my building. he didn’t even want to take a report about it. i ended up writing to the chief of the LAPD about him. i gathered that if you look white that you get dismissed. i am basing this on my own experiences at the old station with this particular officer.
today i had to go in to report vandalization of my car & it went pretty smoothly.

i’ve been left waiting on the phone for 26 mins and 11secs… trying to report party noise from the usual inconsiderate dicks on Division… if i’d been a really bad person, it would have been quicker to go and beat the dickheads with a hammer, put a broken bottle in their faces, maybe slash their cheeks with a stanley blade, shoot them etc… but fortunately, for all of us involved, i’m not that kinda person… so i’m still waiting on the line @ 29 mins and 27 secs. Some might not be that patient. Especially if they pay their taxes and expect a little more in return.

This police station is okay but it takes quite a long time to report a crime. I’ve had to call twice this year; once for bicycle theft and another time for a vehicle break in. The first time they told me to call back when they were less busy; I called at the time they recommended and was was told I could wait a long time or call back again. so it’s better to just put your phone on speaker and wait the first time. Both times it took about 40 minutes to get through to an officer.
It’s important to report crimes in your area for data, even if you aren’t getting your stolen goods back. but I would definitely call 911 if there was a more serious crime because you will be waiting a very long time to talk to an officer if you call this line.

I usually just go here to use their ATM, since it’s part of the credit union co-​op.
Today I called to report my stolen bike. They suggested I call in 30 minutes because they have a lot of reports to go through, seems pretty typical for a Los Angeles Police Station. I call 30 minutes later, another person answers, «we’re open 24 – 7, so try calling around 8PM, we are just backed up».
Flashback to one of my ATM transactions, two female officers at the desk and one answers the phone, «Oh, you have a kidnapping to report? Well I’m sorry but we’re pretty backed up right now, you’ll just have to call 911.»
Hopefully sometime soon I’ll be able to file a report for my bike, I would consider that lower on the totem pole than a kidnapping, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Just wanted to say thank you to Sgt. Flores over the gang unit in this dept. It was so nice meeting him a couple of weeks ago. As I was leaving my apt. One evening, there was maybe six police cars blocking the street, my street happens to be one way in, one way out, and Sgt. Flores approached my car to say they would be clearing the way shortly, someone they were looking for had ran behind one of the houses up here, wouldn’t be long. As I explained to him, lately, there had been some Latino gentlemen hanging up here drinking, when clearly they don’t belong up here and they would write on the houses and sidewalks, so I told him that I was grateful to see a police presence up here because it’s really quiet, but as of the last couple of weeks, it was awful… police helicopters, several police on my street etc. To make a long story short, we exchanged numbers, and I told him, I would be glad to call him if I happen to see something or someone that didn’t belong up here because we like to live in peace up here, and I must say… Thank you so much Sgt. Flores, your police presence has made all the difference in the world. Not a problem since. Thank you to officer Rojas whom I spoke with on the phone, she was very gracious and appreciative for my support. I think everyone should be rewarded for the good they do, unfortunately, police officers have a bad reputation, but there are still many in the police department that do exceptional work. SGT. Flores is an example of that! :)

I needed to come here to get a business plan approved from the vice department. They have excellent detectives who are hard working officers to protect the beautiful City Of Los Angeles. This police station is smaller then other police station that people are used to.
We all know that the police department has their hands full and are doing the best to make sure that all the citizens of Los Angeles get the service that they deserve. I have been very lucky with always get the support I need. This police station has outstanding officers who really care about their jobs.
As we all know that we prefer not to deal with the police unless is needed. The Los Angeles Police Officers are doing everything possible to address one matter at time. Let’s thank every single officer daily for putting their life’s on the line for us citizens.

So, I made a boo-​boo this morning and Officer Murra caught me, pulled me over. I was sitting there shaking in my car waiting to be yelled at and ticketed, and I was completely taken aback (in a good way) by Officer Murra’s way of handling the situation. I had come to the stop sign at Griffith Park Blvd and Lucille, and there was a female in a car in front of me who was turning right at the stop sign, but being very slow about it. So, I kinda pulled around her to the left to continue straight (there was no one else, either in by car or on foot, at the 4-​way intersection). I swear I thought I fully stopped before continuing forward through the stop sign, but, according to Officer Murra, from his bird’s eye view up the street on the hill to my left, I didn’t fully stop. He also said I was so close behind the car in front of me I could have caused an accident had that car come to a sudden stop for a pedestrian or something else. Anyway, the point is that he seemed more interested in me being aware of what I was doing and concerned that I was doing something to distract me from keeping myself focused on driving (he asked me if I was on my phone, but I didn’t even have my phone with me as I had left it at home). He also asked my why was I in such a hurry and where was I going. I WAS in a hurry because I was trying to make the early bird special at the local car wash which started at 8:00 am and I had to be at work by 9:00 am. He did take my license and insurance and car registration, but when he came back he just gave me a stern warning to be more careful the next time and that taking only 3 seconds to come to a full stop would save me the close to $ 900.00 it would have cost me if he had ticketed me because evidently I did so many things wrong there that he didn’t even know where to start ticketing me. This experience renewed my faith in the LAPD because my love for the LAPD has taken a pretty good beating in the last 20 years. I was born in Los Angeles and have grown up here. I have seen a lot of changes occur in the police force in my time here. I experienced the 1992 Rodney King riots and have seen some pretty scary stuff since then. I am a good person, and I really try hard to drive safely and defensively and respectfully, but I have had my share of experiences with mean and disrespectful LAPD officers (I even had to take one to court because of the neglect and cruelty displayed towards me and in court he lied right in front of the judge, twisting the events of our interaction so badly that I think I won the case just because the judge saw the look of shock on my face from the tales the officer was spinning). So, I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this experience this morning with Officer Murra and how much it meant to me. I have never met him before so this is not a «favor» or a payment for anything other than just to give credit where credit is due. Thank you, Officer Murra, for your care and consideration and for being a shinning example of what a police officer should be, to protect and serve. Not just because you didn’t ticket me, but mostly because of the feeling of concern that I felt from you. Thank you, again.

I’m in the station. Right now. My friend’s Florida license plate was stolen off her car in Los Feliz (Wtf?!), so I have her a ride to check out the scene. I find it hard to believe that this location is the closest to Los Feliz, but google maps seldom lies.
Anyway the station’s nothing special. It’s small with a small waiting room. Maybe we got lucky, but my friend is moving through the police report process pretty fast. I mean, it’s 3:30pm on Friday. You’d think we’d be sitting with a sea of people waiting to be called upon by an officer inundated with loud phone calls and a screaming dispatcher… but…oh hey we just left. Ha! 15 minutes. In and out.

Best police station by far. It’s ild and outdated. But the officers are amazingly helpful. The watch commander (older guy on his way out) took care of my incident and really went out of his way to ensure that the incident was taken care of. These officers are a good group of people willing to help.

Soooo last week, while smoking a cig and working on my car with my buddy DJ, he says, «Did you remove your front license plate?»
I looked at him, he looked at me and we both said, «Someone jacked it!»
So of course i go straight to google on my phone and it says to report it stolen at your my nearest police station, get a report, then bring that to the DMV.
I get there around 11pm, and the cop asks me to wait, then when it was my turn, i tell him what happened, and starts laughing. I ask, «Whats so funny?»
he says, «Man you got that Rick Ross beard thing going for you huh?»
And i respond, «Im Muslim!»
and he looks down and gets back to the paperwork.
What a f*ckin dick! so i get my piece of paper, and i leave.

Called in concerned about semi parked on the main, residential street. Worried about safety. Semi is wide and is hindering sight from ongoing traffic at both ends of the side streets. Semi is also causing lack of vision when cars are pulling out of their driveways.
Officer Potts, stated she could not do anything and after being on hold for 7 minutes, I complained about the wait on the call and she hung up on me.
Called again and once more she placed me on hold after asking to speak to a supervising officer.
He graciously took my complaint and concerns; however I’m sure their will be no reprecautions.
So much for safety and trusting those who are suppose to implement the law.
Taxpayers money working at best. What will Parking Enforcement do at 9:20 at night (sigh)??? Disappointed that safety is not a priority!

Dropped by here Saturday afternoon with my Mom, sis and son — they were having an Open House. Really great community event with free entertainment, hot dogs, donuts, snow cones, cotton candy, rock climbing and pumpkin decorating. We had a great time. The officers and cadets were all very friendly.

i can (thankfully) only provide an informed review of the outside, and lobby /​front desk portion of the station. the building is sort of easy to miss, as it blends in with the other nondescript buildings along that section of san fernando rd. just look for police cars parked outside, and a colorful mural on the wall, and a very plain, generic sign high on a pole that says «POLICE». there is more signage that shows where the entrance is, but it’s obscured by an untrimmed bush (see pic). there is easy parking out front, which is good. the lobby is not a dump, but it is definitely very old, and in dire need of an update. it is very dimly lit. there’s a soda vending machine, a snack vending machine, and a 24hr ATM available. the 2 officers at the front desk when i dropped by weren’t rude, but definitely didn’t make any notable effort to be helpful or friendly (way to strengthen relations with the community, officers). overall, this looks like the station that time forgot. step your game up a little northeast division.
