I can’t stress enough how much I absolutely LOVE Chinese video stores. I try to keep up with Kung Fu/​Martial Arts films and these places will usually have them on DVD a few weeks after its theatrical release in Asian countries.
DVDs are 4 for $ 10 here and I scored a totally sweet Detective Conan box set here for only $ 18!!! Considering the box set included 19 discs, that was only about $ 1 per disc! You really couldn’t beat that if even you rummage through the Wal-​Mart bargain bin all day.
These places aren’t the best if you already have something in mind that you were looking for. They may or may not have a copy and there’s no real catalog for them to check against. You just walk in and see what they have for sale. Chances are, you’ll walk out about $ 20 – 40 lighter but with a mountain of movies that would’ve cost you hundreds of dollars at your average retailer (Target, Best Buy, Wal-​Mart, etc.)
