My husband and I were walking trying to find a good place for breakfast and we found this place. Is quite, good attention, good menu and delicious food. I recommend the EMPANADA with CHEESE and TOMATE. Is so good also the torta is huge and you can enjoy the Spain soccer league while you eat.

If you like the empanadas this is good place to try. The attention of the manager or owner it is really good. The had very large menu and different options for everyone. I order a Milanesa torta and my wife order rancheros eggs. We order 2 coffee and 2 empanadas beef and cheese with tomatoes. The flavor very good the presentation very good to and the prices are affordable.

Was in the Atwater/Los Feliz area, and was looking for food and we found this small gem. Less than 5 minutes from the Best Buy and Costco in Los Feliz plaza. My friend had the breakfast burrito and i had the torta beef milanesa. Portions were huge and it tasted good. We even had cheese empanadas too. Definately coming again.

The food here was absolutely delicious. I don’t want to use flowery language here, but this was the best Mexican food I’ve had here in LA. Nuff said

Excellent food in a little joint. Service compliments the food. The outdoor sitting option is excellent. The food here is one of the best. The salsa with tomatillo and cilantro is excellent and unique. The cheese enchiladas are very good with excellent balance. The sauce doesn’t over power the dish. They make the best vegetarian burrito.

Came here to try the«amazing» breakfast burrito but was quickly convinced it wasn’t going to be so amazing. First thing I didn’t like was that the breakfast burrito on the menu had completely different ingredients than the one on the chalk board when you walk in. The lady could barely explain what the difference was to me. I ended up deciding on the burrito from the board with chorizo. When the food came, I immediately noticed that the burrito appeared to have bacon pieces instead of the chorizo I had ordered so I asked the waitress if it was a mistake. She wasn’t even sure of what she had put in to order and looked at the meat and told me it in fact, bacon that they had put it, so she went to check why it was wrong. When she came back she notified me that in fact it wasn’t bacon but a «Spanish chorizo» Super disappointed since I had been expecting a soft traditional Mexican chorizo and really upset they no one bothered to specify the kind of chorizo it would be. It tasted like crap and left the worst aftertaste in my mouth when leaving there. Definitely will not be going back. Sad to say but this place had bad food and service!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in LA. Everything is so good, gourmet restaurant quality with street food price… the cheerful lady working at the counter always treats us nice. Best kept secret in Atwater village!

Their empanadas are consistent and perfect. I feel bad that I have not tried much else(except the breakfast burrito, which was also excellent). Every time I drive by, I crave their empanadas… and it doesn’t matter what kind you get — they are all wonderful. Perfect crispy light crust, and well seasoned juicy fillings. They are trying hard to make the place successful because the last few previous owners ran it into the ground, so they have a lot to go against. Keep up the good work! Having had my own restaurant in the past, I know it is NOT easy. Every time I come in, they have redecorated/improved something. Very flamboyant décor, which makes it kind of entertaining. It’s worth mentioning that most of their business is catering. So when you come in as a dine-in or to-go, they may be super distracted with a bunch of catering jobs in the back. My only complaints are: food takes quite a bit of time to come out(but worth it), and it’s CASHONLY.

Standard Mexican food, good service and a surprisingly nice interior. I have heard good things about the breakfast, but my go to is the fish and shrimp tacos. Next I want to try the crab ceviche tostada for $ 3.50. All the food is cooked fresh so it takes a while. Very reasonably priced, it helps if you speak some Spanish.

Found my weekly low budget go-to hole in the wall Mexican joint after driving by and noticing their store front which had a local personality. Boy, I’m glad I stopped by the next day cause their grilled fish tacos is terrific! Best deal in the house is their take-out combo dish(ends at 5PM) I usually substitute the fries with rice/beans. Be prepared folks for a Captain’s meal! FYI, if you ever see a Hispanic woman cooking $ 2 pupusa outside the restaurant. Grab em while they’re hot it’s hand’s down better than the pupusa stand at the Farmer’s Market in Atwater!

Once a week I stop somewhere and get lunch on my way to work. This is where I go for Mexican. I’ve been here about six times now and have only gotten the chile rellano burrito. I’m vegetarian, which does limit my choices… really though… I just keep getting it because it is so good. I’ve examined other people’s food though and it looks good. The salsa isn’t spicy, but it’s freshly made and delicious. Street parking only, but it is very easy to find. Also they let you call ahead and order… which is very convenient.

After our bike ride along the L.A.river, my hubby and I noticed a sign with«$ 1 fish taco» and we both knew we had to try it. There café is kept clean, and wasn’t busy. Our order took five minutes to prepare, but when it came out… oh baby! Best looking and best tasting fish taco I’ve ever had – seriously. The tartar sauce they use is mmm-mmm bomb diggity. The fish is perfectly fried to a gold crisp and the cilantro, radishes and cucumbers just compliment it so well. We wish we hadn’t ordered just two tacos! But at least now we have a new spot to visit after our bike rides!!! :) Oh P. S, it’s in a residential area, but we easily found parking right across the street. It’s also cash only and no public restrooms.

Love this place! Me and my coworker eat here all the time. Their empanadas are delicious! I’ve had their torta de milanesa, burrito chile verde, quesadilla, and sope(not on their menu but they’ll make it for you) I would’ve gave it 5 stars but they are inconsistent sometimes with the way they serve the meals. But overall it’s very tasty, haven’t been disappointed so far and i highly recommend if you’re in the area.

La Villa Café serving up Home-Style Mexican food, from Chavelita’s Kitchen to your stomach. Seems that they recently opened, it’s a small, clean and nicely decorated café, though I wasn’t thrilled with the waitress as she didn’t seem to know the menu very well, and when I had questions she was unable to answer them and had to call out Chavelita from her kitchen! I was hoping to try out some good tacos unfortunately their meat selection is limited to carne asada and pollo(chicken), so I guess I’ll have to check out their breakfast burrito also. So the menu says Breakfast Burrito — Eggs & Bacon or Chorizo $ 4.75, Hmmm is that all that comes inside, I ask Chavalita? and she started rattling off what seemed like everything but the kitchen sink! I must have had«QUE?» written on my forehead because she then asked what would you like inside?, now you’re talking… So I ordered a breakfast burrito, tacos, two carne asada and two pollo(chicken). Tacos de Carne Asada y Pollo — OMG lettuce and yellow cheese… /face palm Carne Asada — The meat was just OK, tender but lacking flavor, definitely cooked on a flattop and not asada over a open flame, tortillas nothing special. 3-Stars Pollo — Chicken — Now when she asked if I wanted onions, cilantro and salsa on the tacos… I said YES, the menu says noting about the tacos de pollo being Dorado and with lettuce and yellow cheese! nor did she mention this to me, obviously I was not happy but since she was very nice I didn’t complain either, well at lease the chcken was nice pieces of white meat, but I still cringe at the lettuce and yellow cheese.(for you gabachos that’s NOTMEXICAN) 2-Stars Breakfast Burrito — Bacon — Bacon, Eggs, Potato’s, Beans, Cheese and Salsa was my burrito of choice The refried beans were real good, eggs were nice and fluffy, potato’s were good but wish they were browned more and crispy, but I had trouble finding much bacon though the pieces I did find were good sized, just wish it had more… good thing I asked for beans it really made the burrito and without it, below average. 4-Stars and Chavelita… it needs more BACON. Salsa — Standard house salsa w/Chips, it was OK Salsa — Now this is good salsa!, not sure WHY a lot of restaurants hide the good stuff… must ask for it! Food was rather slow coming out of Chavalita’s kitchen, maybe it was the waitress who I’d say was pretty useless as she kept interrupting Chavelita asking questions. I’d give them another try but the service/speed needs to be stepped up.
