This place was good. Food was delicious but service and attention to detail was lacking. This was my first time here and I ordered three carnitas tacos w/double beans. First, I was told my order would be 5.25 bucks. I paid with my credit card but received a receipt stating I paid 6 bucks. When I questioned the cashier, he said there was a fee for credit. I was not informed before you slid my card nor do I believe I saw a sign saying there was a fee. Second, my order I received was not accurate. I said«no rice, double beans». That was not what I received. Third, overall the food itself was delicious. Everything seemed fresh and not too oily or heavy. I only had a few minor issues with the food that kept the meal from being great. The beans were too watery for my liking. The salsas provided seemed fresh and flavorful but were no where near spicy. Overall my experience was good. The food was good and now I know what to expect next time. They accept all major cards but pay with cash and save your self some change. I will be back.

Coworker picked up some tacos for us today. Werent bad but not the greatest. Carnitas were definitely the best thing we had. Carne asada wasnt the smarted choice. Bland and no flavor. Salsa was very spicy and good flavor. If there isnt anything else this might be my go to spot for quick/cheap and close tacos.

I just wanted to write an update since it’s been four years. This place is still going strong. They recently replaced the chairs and tables in their outdoor seating area, as well as recently updated their signage. The people who run this place are incredibly friendly and I’m still a huge fan of their delicious tortas. There’s not a whole lot of Mexican food in the area(taco trucks are transitory, and no, the new Chipotle does not count), so this is a great local place to grab a lunch.

I’ve been here a few times. It is okay food and decently priced and portions The only down side is cash only and sometimes it will give you some bad stomach aches Not sure what it is in the burrito but never fails… I have now stopped ordering this burrito for obvious reasons.

They got shrimp tostada for $ 4. The lemon sauce is bit more that I would like it but for amount of shrimp, immitation crab meat you get, it’s a descent deal

Not a lot of seating, so it’s best for you to order To Go.

This place is totally amazing. I’ve been living off their fish taco combo for the last three years of law school. $ 5.50? That’s such a steal, that I should give them with a couple hours of pro bono work once I finally get my license. Like maybe I could sue that Unilocaler who alleges your place gave her hives?! Well, maybe not, ’cause I’d have to prove harm, and no one believes her, right?! I’ve also had the veggie burrito and the cheese quesadillas, both very good. Do you take requests? If so: Potato tacos!!!

This place was fantastic! I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and it was extremely satisfying. It was as big, if not bigger, than Chipotle burritos and generously filled. Surprisingly, it happened to be a very clean meal as in, you don’t see grease flying everywhere, plus you feel pretty alright after eating a giant burrito. Cool, right? And to add to that, the people there are really nice!

The only thing I have eaten here are the fish tacos. For 1.25 you cannot go wrong!

I love this place! The owner is a friendly guy. The prices are cheap and the food is good. I have been going there for a while and I always order the burrito. It’s $ 4.50 for a burrito and that burrito is really big! The meat is juicy and the sauces that they put on the burrito are good. The tacos here are also really good. I recommend this place if you are in the mood to pick up some good mexican food. They have your order quick and you can call them ahead of time also to place an order.

Unilocal has really gotta start giving you the option of a ½ a star. So, that 2 star above is really more like a 2.5. Or 2.25. Working in K-town with so much great Korean food around, I sometimes find myself inexplicably struck with the strongest cravings for Mexican food. So, running back to the office, I stopped by and picked up a quick burrito, so the review is necessarily limited to that one item on the menu :) La Poblanita is located in a fairly hideous tiny strip mall. Translation: lots of parking spaces were available. The owner seemed friendly and to update an earlier reviewer, it appears La Poblanita has changed it ways enough to earn an «A» from the Health Department. I ordered the Ranchero Burrito($ 5.50), which is a combo burrito with chunks of pollo asado, carne asada and rice. I opened the styrofoam container and saw a brick. It’s huge, coated in red sauce, and covered with cheese. The other two compartments in the container are filled with a chopped tomato and iceberg lettuce salad drowning in what appeared to be an avocado sauce. I wish I had thought to take a photo cuz it looked so pretty but I was so hungry that I just tore into it. Now, it’s too late. Because there was so much gristle and bone in the chicken that it’s now piled on the plate next to the partially eaten burrito and that doesn’t make for pretty pictures. The light green avocado sauce didn’t taste like avocados. In fact, it didn’t really taste like anything. On the positive side, the beef had a nice charcoal flavor that I enjoyed. I might have enjoyed the chicken but the bone/gristle thing was distracting me. I suppose La Poblanita would do if you absolutely HAD to have your Mexican food fix, right NOW and couldn’t possibly wait for something better. But, don’t drive out of your way for it. Really.

Many years ago… I used to work in the area and would frequent this spot years ago, although the name has changed and probably the owner too it’s still one of the few places in the immediate area to grab some Mexican food… So I happen to be in the area and just to come back to see what’s going on these days, so I ordered up 2-Asada, 1-Pastor y 1-Carnitas Tacos and a soda $ 5.00 the food is ready rather quickly and FIRST thing I notice is «LETTUCE» on the top of my tacos. I asked where are you from? he said Puebla!, Hmmm some of the BEST Taqueiros come from Puebla Mexico… I ask why the«Lettuce» because they don’t do that in Puebla nor any other State in Mexico I’ve been or seen? He said oh YES, only onion & cilantro but I give for you something FREE the Lettuce & Chips! So after I pick off the lettuce and add some salsa, the Carne Asada tacos were nicely flavored, and meat was tender. The Al Pastor was just OK, nothing bad but really lacking flavor, Al Pastor or Adovada should have much more flavor. The Carnitas was so good, nice, moist and full of flavor! I won’t knock you any stars for the Lettuce thing BUT… KEEPTHELETTUCEOFFTHETACOS…3.5-Stars

I’ve been coming here since I moved into the neighborhood around 6 years ago. I literally went 10 months where i was eating fish tacos 5 – 7 days a week and in the event that they were out of fish that day the burrito vegetariano was readily available and remains one of the best buys on the menu at $ 3.50. But the fish tacos are by far my favorite thing there. $ 4.50 for 3 fish tacos and rice and beans add $ 1.50 for a mexican medio litro Coke or Squirt and you are out the door for $ 6. Also the Flautas are good though I’m not too keen on the beef tacos or burrito. Whenever i move away I will certainly look back with fond memories of this place and their fish tacos. Also I find it’s better to support these little Mom and Pop type of establishments than spend money at more expensive chains. These types of places, while overlooked in the grand scheme of things, are what really gives an area or a street it’s character and personality. So stop wasting time and get over to 7th street and get yourself some fish tacos!

So I’ve been frequenting this joint since my first year at Southwestern(Fall ’06) which is half a block away. I think the entire janitorial staff goes there as well which is a good sign. ha. Um…good prices and food. I was surprised by their camarones one time because I didn’t expect them to be that good. I also get their veggie burrito which is like $ 3 and super duper filling. And tacos here are always hit the spot too, fish, carnitas etc. Ooh not to mention they have Mexican sodas. Sometime you gotta have the stuff with real sugar and not corn fructose syrup… it does make a difference. Of course I go here out of convenience but I keep going back. Sure beats the Tea Room any day(5th floor cafeteria).

La Poblanita is still kicking and alive. Back in the days there was an open food station where you could get anything in the middle of the night, really rare specialties that I have not seen in a long time. Now, there is a small sitting area and no food at night, hence no more drunkies! But still, they serve burgers and fries, burritos, tacos and breakfast items. This place is functioning well, where lots of locals eat and hang out. Where Korean food is everywhere on this corner, La Poblanita is the only safe heaven for some rice and beans.
