At the Southwest Terminal(Terminal 1) at LAX, this would seem to be a good option. But it’s plagued with bad organization and really high prices. The Starbucks line is a nightmare. So you think you’ll do better at La Brea Bakery. But their line is long and slow moving. And they have a bad system where there is no designated order«pick up» area so people that have placed orders for hot food must just hang out near the order area making it even more congested. They need to organize a better flow. The pastries I saw looked tempting but the prices were bordering on outrageous. $ 11 or more for a sandwich… In a super cramped and not especially clean courtyard environment — no thanks. My large coffee was $ 3.25(plus tax) and the cream/sugar area is also poorly organized. One pitcher is marked as ½ & ½ but the other is unmarked… The one that was marked was empty so we all stood around and waited. Turns out the other one is ½ & ½ too… but how would we know that? Also, I found the coffee way too strong and not pleasing. So while you would think this is your best bet at Terminal 1 for breakfast or coffee, I actually suggest you’d do better with waiting out the Starbucks line… efficient and consistent — and compared to La Brea Bakery, a bargain. Understand, I’m only talking airport«I’m about to board a flight and just need sustenance» dining. On any other occasion, I’m sure La Brea would be the clear winner. But when it’s quick and easy fuel you want — Starbucks wins the battle of Terminal 1. Now feel free to roam about the country.

Airport location right after security. Fairly quick order and service for a busy Sunday morning. Ham and egg sandwich with delicious sourdough bread for $ 12. Friendly cashiers.

Got to LAX hungry so I Ordered a breakfast croissant which smelled amazing but was burnt. Pretty disappointed that I had to pick off the top layers of my croissant because it was hard and blackened! By the time I got to my gate and found a seat it was at least ten minutes away from La Brea so I was not going to hike it back to complain.

Bran muffin was stale and coffee was so burnt as to be undrinkable. $ 10 down the drain.

Horrible pre-made sandwich on a stale soggy roll. Threw most of it away. They didn’t make them to order anymore or had nice fresh whole grain bread available unless the staff was just being lazy.

Needed something quick to eat and this looked like the best option. It wasn’t good but there were only a few options there. Typical food at the airport not good and overpriced.

The driest, most tasteless, most expensive pre-packaged tuna salad sandwich I’ve ever had. Go to California Pizza Kitchen instead.

This was the driest and tasteless most expensive sandwich I’ve ever had. I got the turkey avocado with a bottle of water that came out to be about $ 17. If it was good, it would have worth my money but it was definitely tasteless.

So the food isn’t that bad but the price?! #AIRPORTFOOD This is located in Terminal 1, specifically for Southwest. It’s located right after security check and in the same Plaza as Starbucks, CPK, Pinkberry and some beer factory. I ordered the turkey avocado panini and a cup of broccoli chowder(?) soup. Both were yummy but for $ 20… FYI the girl is a one-person-show. If you ask for a panini she takes the cold sandwich and presses it on the panini machine to heat it up. WOW. Overall, no comments. I would suggest bringing some snacks here if you can instead of «splurging» on airport food…

Food is ok, service is ok but the prices are nothing short of highway robbery. A basic sandwich is $ 12. Not worth the money.

It’s quite difficult to make Starbucks look like a bargain, but this place did it. With limited time before a flight, I was nervous to wait for the ever-popular Starbucks and ended up paying just over $ 15 for two small coffees, a handful of grapes, and a mediocre croissant. Never again.

At 9:30am, you would expect a bakery to be serving breakfast. When ordering a bagel and cream cheese, we were told that they didn’t have cream cheese. When looking at the other breakfast items on the menu, we were told they didn’t have breakfast available. So, we ordered two croissants and two water bottles, handed the cashier a $ 20 bill and were asked for more money. How do these 4 items add up to over $ 20? Not wanting to pay $ 10 for water, we forked over $ 11 for two chocolate croissants that ended up being stale as I’m sure they were made yesterday or the day before. Also… Instead of giving us correct change, the woman asked for 3 cents to make her job easier. We didn’t have any change, so she asked the woman next to us for change 2 times — to pay for our meal?! Not the way I would want my employees treating other patrons. Not happy… and we will happily stand in the super long line at Starbucks next time. Thanks for nothing, La Brea Bakery.

Was here the other day early really early like 4:00am early. Lights are on people are working behind the counter food is on display so I walk up to place an order and this older gentleman comes up and in a short curt way says, not open! He points at a sign that tells their hours. They open at 5:00am and he just spins and walks away shaking his head. So I go to Starbucks and get my breakfast. Only to see 10 minutes later they are serving people and have a line at the bakery. 4:10 am certainly isn’t 5:00 am and mister short and rude could have said we will take care of you in about 5 minutes. So easy to run off a customer.

Flight delayed, so snacks for the family. Staff was flustered and overwhelmed by their modest tasks, but our bigger complaint was the very, very stale croissants. I remember when the name La Brea Bakery meant something. Now it just means clueless workers and baked goods no better than those the Sysco truck brings to the hospital cafeteria. You can do better — even at the airport.

My flight was delayed, so clearly I’m having a rough morning. Do yourself a favor– wait in line at the Starbucks. The pastry case was oh so deceiving. My eyes locked with the chocolate croissants and I got lured in. We ordered a bran muffin and scone. Both were stale and had no flavor. They serve illy coffee. I’m no coffee connoisseur, so no comments there. This being my first time trying La Brea Bakery, I doubt I’ll be going out of my way or looking forward to having it again.

This is a breakfast review. Not great, not awful, perfectly OK. I had a bacon egg and cheese panini. The bread was pretty good, but the egg was microwaved and the cheese was low-grade cheddar. But unlike most airport food, it was couple of levels better than edible. The panini’s cost $ 10.99, which is the same price as California Pizza Kitchen just one stall over. I haven’t had the one at CPK yet so I’m not sure which one is better. A Naked Juice bottle of OJ cost me $ 5.25 and a 700 mL Smart Water cost $ 4.79. So prices are high but pretty standard for an airport. The wait wasn’t bad. I noticed there weren’t a lot of people waiting for their food, unlike CPK, which is why I thought I’d try it out. This is a food court with a decent number of tables, but that doesn’t stop it from filling up at peak hours. If you think you’d like to check it out, you’ll find this La Brea Bakery in Terminal One. It’s to your left immediately after you come through TSA. It’s at the street end close to gates one and two. As if I have to mention it, the real La Brea Bakery on La Brea Blvd. is infinitely better than this location!

Okay. Just eat before you get to the terminal. So the food court here is kind of crazy and I wanted to try something that was more local than commercial. There was a good sized line at La Brea Bakery so I figured it must be good. As I’m standing there I’m listening to people request orders for sandwiches and the person behind the counter denies them saying they are all pre-made. Now I’m okay with food at the airport being a little high priced, but I ordered a classic chicken sandwich and it cost me around $ 12. My drink was $ 6. My sandwich was smaller than a Subway sandwich… which… I would have much rather had. It was okay, but because it was pre-made, the lettuce was wilted. If these sandwiches were made to order they probably wouldn’t be half bad still not worth the $ 12 though. Would I eat here again? Not on your life.

Scones are terrible. Get a gallon of water to drink with them. They called it raspberry but it would be more accurate to call it a sand scone. Coffee is good but the line is too long to wait for coffee.

Coffee review only: wait in line for Starbucks at least you won’t get instant coffee masquerading as drip. I wanted coffee bean(much better black than Starbucks) but I had to leave the terminal and get back in. Airport PD suggested la brea bakery as a second option to Starbucks and seeing how Starbucks had a line literally 3 times as long I opted for la brea. $ 3.50+/- change for a cup and when I tastes it, it’s sooo watered down tastes like instant coffee(probably is). I’d rather have shitty real coffee from Starbucks as opposed to this junk :/

So we’ve eaten here both times we flew out of LAX and it isn’t anything special. For $ 10 – 11 you get a small salad and for $ 9 you get a panini. The first time I went, I got the last of the southwest paninis and a pilot offered me $ 20 for it… Which I thought was weird. The second time mom and sis got a salad and ended up having to split a pizza because they were not full. Be prepared to wait for the paninis — the line gets backed up on waiting for the sandwiches and the other foods are prepackaged. If you want a spot in the food court make sure to quickly grab a spot because all the restaurants share a teeny tiny spot.
