This was my first time eating here. I just did not like it — so sorry. I’m kind of mad at myself for just not grabbing a burger from some place. It’s like eating from a high school cafeteria. I was hungry. Yet, I actually ate very little of my combo — gave the rest of the meat(if that was meat) to my dog & trashed the rest. Friendly staff! I’m going to have to pass on the food though.

Not a bad spot. Needs more tables, but not enough space; won’t allow it. We got two mini BBQ chickens for about $ 20. Not cheap, but then again what is? Parking is plenty as this is in the same building as Starbucks, CVS, and a few small stores. The stars are for parking, taste, and convenience. It doesn’t get the other two stars for price and friendly service.

I was starving today and stopped in for a quick bite. I noticed that their prices have really sky rocketed since my last visit, maybe a year ago. I’m not surprised. The mac was good but wasn’t great like I remembered it. The half and half plate was the best idea for me, as I wanted a lil katsu and a lil chicken. The chicken was cooked nicely and was tender. However, it was sooooo salty. I thought that after my first bite I might have a heart attack. I guess I should have known since the chicken was so dark colored it looked burnt. I think they marinated it for a few days too many!!! Their katsu was yummy. It wasn’t too heavily fried and wasn’t too heavily battered. Their sauce is always good. The portions weren’t bad but for what I paid, I guess I expected a lil something more, whether it was in the presentation or the serving size. Anyway, it was just OK. I don’t miss it anymore and probably won’t be back for another year. The cashier was friendly but seemed too over whelmed for what little business they had.

I never write reviews, but this is the best L &L I have ever been to. I have been to a lot of these chains around LA and the OC and this is by far the best one.

I discovered this L&L several months ago, and am very happy I did. I’ve been to other L&Ls in LA, but this one certainly has the friendliest customer service and staff. I usually go for their $ 1.19 spam musubis Mondays and Tuesdays, and either Sergio or Deb are there to greet me. They are always so helpful, friendly, and cheerful. Thanks for all the great food and service!

Pretty sure prices went up. Got a katsu plate and it cost me more than a bowl at chipotle! WHAT?! Food is great and I especially love their macaroni but I don’t know if it’s worth the price, IMO. But I will come for the $ 1 spamusubi mondays!

The quality of the food is soso. Taste ok and the portion is huge! I liked their spam with rice. Kasu was ok. Again it is just average fast food with rice and meat but the best part is their service. Cashier who took our order was very nice and friendly. I would definitely offer him a job if I wad a business owner. I not sure how much l&l pays him butI sugest the owner to offer him a raise and dont loose him to other store(lol)because the service is the key to survive when there are just so many other fast food restaurants.

Great customer service! I received my food very quickly and had a great barbecue experience. I received a lot of food for the price. The meat is flavored really well and is so great for the price.

The name of this«restaurant,»(and I use the word loosely) «L&L Hawaiian Barbecue» is a misnomer. It would be more appropriate to simply call this establishment, «‘Murica,» or «Fried Mysteries.» If we were really going for a snappy one word name that accurately conveys the essence of this«food,»(again I use the word loosely) it would be «Barf.» I must preface this review with the fact that when I went here, I was ravenously hungry, borderline starving. It also came HIGHLY recommended by my girlfriend’s coworker, who I now realize, is most likely completely insane and in need of serious psychiatric evaluation. That being said… I came here and ordered. I simply needed something… ANYTHING to distract the stomach acid from eroding the lining of my stomach. Just about everything here is fried. EVERYTHING. Except maybe for the heaping pile of bland lukewarm white rice and gross macaroni salad that I could have bought a pound of at the 99 cent store.(which is most likely L&L’s supplier) If you’re going to fry anything at all, in the first place, it should be the rice. Ironically, that was one of the few non-fried items on the menu. I ordered a seafood platter, which was essentially a collection of fried grease blobs, which allegedly contained some unidentified bits of seafood hidden in them.(verdict is still out on this) Apparently shrimp, some sort of fish, and scallops. I dug a scallop out of it’s nearly impenetrable fortress of fried grease armor and ate it. Packing peanuts would have probably been more flavorful. The fish was barely edible. I would equate it with eating a not too freshly picked scab. The rice and macaroni salad were so bland that I had to douse them with«chili water,» which is one of their condiments. No, not chili sauce, or chili powder, or ground chili, but chili WATER. Yes, it really was water, cause that’s how fucking cheap this place is… They couldn’t even be bothered to add additional ingredients to create a consistency. That wasn’t enough. I proceeded to douse it with more«onion vinegar,» another one of their ingenious concoctions. Nope, still awful. Slather it in Sriracha, maybe? Nope. Nothing could really redeem this meal, even with my insatiable hunger. I threw half of it away. My girlfriend’s fried(chicken) garbage was no better. She was hungrier than I was and couldn’t even make it through a third of her meal. Not even the cashier’s warm and welcoming smile and personable charm could warrant giving this place a single star. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I think it does almost deserve a star however, for the simple fact that this managed to be one of the most disgusting places I have ever eaten at in the history of my conscious memory during my time on this Earth. I could only recommend this restaurant to a person attempting to break the Guinness Book of World Records for morbid obesity, who also coincidentally happened to have been born without tastebuds of any kind. I am fairly sure this restaurant needs to be put out of business for the betterment of humanity. Robert Irvine couldn’t even make any of this shit food edible if he had a half dozen team of crack commando navy seal master chefs at his disposal. Avoid this dump at all costs.

The short rib tacos are definitely worth the wait as well as the spam musubi. The staff is great! A little wait is alright but I call ahead of time to fix that!

20min and counting just for chicken katsu. Maybe they need more employees here(cooks) to keep up with the orders. It’s just taking way too long compared to other l&l locations.

Gotta LOVE that someone is serving rice plates in this neighborhood! You can find a burger and a taco anywhere in 90042 but sticky rice is hard to find outside of the San Gabriel Valley. L&L Hawaiian serves delicious large size portions of Hawaiian food for a reasonable price. They often have daily specials. My favorite is 99 cent spam musubi Monday. Sometimes I call ahead and order musubis to pick up for an after school snack for my son. He LOVES him some musubi! The nori(seaweed) is always crispy and there is always the right amount of sauce on the musubi, plenty of flavor without the drippy mess. Not only is the food delish, the staff always greets you with an aloha.

Tried this place, had the beef rib plate and got nauseous. Food tasted awful. I left wanting to vomit and sit on the commode. I went again hoping it was a bad experience and had the chicken Katsu curry. Sadly, the best part was the rice. The chicken was deep-fried strips that was nothing but battering and grease. I got sick again about 8 bites in. Tried to take another bite and felt super ill. The chicken had no taste, just grease. Curry was awful. I left again wanting to vomit. I never want to eat Hawaiian food ever again — I don’t care how good it is. This crappy fast-food version of Hawaiian ruined it for me.

Meh. That’s really all I have to say. Very average Hawaiian food. Although I do have to thank them for something. I have to thank them for making remember all the fun times I had when I went to Hawaii. Service was actually good at this place which is where I choose to put all my stars to.

I tried the ramen burger here last week… I don’t think I wanna try it again. It wasn’t that bad but it was just too greasy and the ramen buns did not hold up well to all the meat and veggies inside. The service was friendly, though. However, I just don’t think the structure of the burger was that great. The burger should have came wrapped with the wax paper like most regular burgers do, so that it can stay intact. I’ll probably have to try something else off the menu to get a better taste of the place.

After my dismay about the Kogi truck, I went here to get a quick bite to eat. Seeing that they served the ramen burger here, I decided to give it a go. After waiting 20 minutes(because of some pretty big orders before me), my burger came out and it wasn’t like anything I was hoping for. The ramen was on the raw crispy side, which I did enjoy, but lacked any kind of flavor enhancement to the burger itself. I felt like the inside of the burger was a big hot mess, a very thick and drippy teriyaki sauce with a thawed out beef patty, slapped with perfect square cut piece of lettuce and tomatoes. Overall, skip the burger and get something else from L&L. However, do note that the burgers comes with fries and a drink, which wasn’t stated anywhere on the flyer.

So I tried this place today and I felt it took a bit long for my order to come up. I placed my order once I walked in and the people that ordered after me got their food first, not like I ordered a whole lot but I went with their mix combination plate which my choice was short rib, chicken and beef. A woman that had two bags full of food ordered after me and got her order before me, maybe they placed their order over the phone, but even a guy that ordered his food halfway while I waited got his meal to go. It took them 30 minutes to finally have my meal ready and the cook was nonstop cooking. Not cool. The combination plate comes with two scoops of rice, one scoop of macaroni and three meats. Might try it again might not, I’m a big fan of Ono then L&L, but since L&L is a few feet from my Redbox I had to try.
