I live downtown and have been having trouble finding a good eye doctor, for years actually. I have insurance and Dr Kurata is one of the listed doctors in my network. Everything was so professional and easy from the time I booked my appt, to when I rescheduled last minute, to the actual exam. Dr Kurata fixed my botched prescription within minutes of meeting and I haven’t seen this clear since I can remember! I highly recommend this office! The staff are a reflection of his friendly professionalism as well!

The best optometrist experience ever. I moved to LA a few months ago and just looked for close optometrist and I really lucked out. Dr. Kurata and the entire staff is so warm and welcoming — it makes the entire experience enjoyable!

The staff here is courteous and really goes above and beyond. I’ve been shopping around for a pair of glasses, and I’m so glad I got my glasses from here. I finally decided on a frame I found in a store in Vegas, but they didn’t accept vision insurance. I didn’t find the exact pair at Kurata, but since they carried the same brand, they said they could order it. I also wanted my glasses in a week and a half before I left to travel, and they rush ordered my glasses, which surprisingly arrived less than a week after my eye exam. In the past, I’ve felt like I’ve been ripped off by stores that seem to quote arbitrarily high prices for glasses, but the prices here seemed very reasonable. I definitely left a happy customer.

Dr. Kurata is a great optometrist! He is super accurate and found my husband’s correct prescription. My husband was prescribed the wrong one from other doctors for years! The office is clean and has a great selection of glasses and contacts. The staff is always very nice and helpful too! Love this place!

Friendly staff, thorough doctors. Dr. Chin was great — explained very patiently and carefully what she was finding in her exam. They do everything quickly and professionally, would definitely recommend them.

Dr. Chin is awesome! I used to go to my optometrist out in the valley, who was great, but living downtown he is way too far. So happy I found someone else I trust nearby. They fit me in right before the new year (had to use up the FSA dollars) and Dr. Chin was very thorough and explained everything she was doing. A couple weeks later I ended up having an infection in my eye and it was so easy to get in to see her for some antibiotic drops, as well as for the follow-​ups. Highly recommend!

I visited Dr. Kurata for my first ever eye exam based on recommendations from a couple of co-​workers that trust him with their vision care. I have to say I was very pleased with the entire process. From the initial paperwork, the prep work for the visit, the visit itself, and the follow-​up with my prescription, everything was handled quickly and professionally. Each person I interacted with in this office was very friendly.

Had a great experience coming here! Customer service was top notch and my contact and glasses exam was quick and professional. They didn’t push me to get extra exams that I didn’t need and actually listened to my input when it came to what kind of contacts I prefer and the degree I want (versus need) in my glasses.
Parking is a little annoying as you have to park in a garage that’s a walk away and you have to pay.

My family and I love coming to get our glasses here! We drive all the way from Santa Clarita to get our glasses, and is is so worth it! We love the amazing customer service and the awesome selection of styles, colors, sizes, and brands! The owner is super friendly and even gave me sample contacts to try! My brother ordered a specific color and style and they delivered them all the was to his college in Texas! The young lady at the front, Nancy P., is always so helpful and sweet! She always takes her time and patience when I am looking for a specific frame. 10+ stars!

Came here during lunch hour at work after finding this place through my vision insurance website. Checked their website, seems very good with wide selection of brands of eyeglasses. Called them to make sure they validate parking, the guys says yes, park across from American Apparel and they will validate.
Went there to check out new glasses for myself and want to talk to them about LASIK since they offer a variety of laser eye surgery according to their website. As I walked in, I told them I wanted to check out their glasses especially the SALTS brand, and double check they validate parking. This woman then told me ‘yea if you buy something today or get an exam, we’ll validate your parking’. I let her know that this is my first time here and I intend to come back to buy new glasses but I would like to talk and browse my first time here, she said no validation. Parking is ridiculously expensive here and the fact that they tricked me to come in is unacceptable. I will not come back to this place again since their staff only seem to care about short term profits, and treat potential customer based on if they’ll throw money at them the first chance they got.

My sister and I both come here. I ordered contact lenses through Chris by sending the prescription via email. Kurata Eyecare Center is very personable. The staff kept me informed as to when I can expect the lenses, and one of the employees contacted me that same day when they arrived.
Normally, I would have to do all the work of calling to see if it was ordered and if it was ready for pick up. Customer service here is exceptional.
