This place has GREAT undercooked chicken! My co worker called the place and was immediately told«we’re busy». Customer service deserves 5 stars! So when your in ktown don’t forget to get your dose of salmonella

Best joint in Ktown to grab some bomb Teriyaki combo. I love coming here whenever I’m hungry and want something filling and relatively healthy. I order steamed brown rice and get a cup of water and I’m set. Definitely bring your fam here or lover. You won’t disappoint. The people working are also super friendly and they’re seriously hustling cleaning up after people. Walk here otherwise good luck finding parking. Oh, and everything is decently priced and that’s always a plus.

Been coming to kuishimbo for years, even when it was located on Wilshire and wilton. For being a regular, I have no complaints at all. The food is delicious, service is good. For a quick bite, good price, u can’t go wrong. If u haven’t been here you’re missing out.

Love the salad with extra dressing! Everything is grilled to order and the portions are filling. Great for lunch and dinner.

Have been coming to this place for over 16 years. It’s one of our family favorites. They’re quality never changes always fresh and delicious. Love the salad and dressing just the right taste. Never lets you down.

Really bad service. Workers are more interested to talking to each other than taking an oder for a waiting customer. Waited 10 minutes for them to ask if I ordered yet. Food was not good at all. Ordered unagi plate and was really really bad. Fish was bad and tasted really old. Will never order from here again.

Heaps of thinly sliced, charbroiled ribeye steak, sticky rice and salad… Did I mention that the large plate gives probably ¾ lb. of a charbroiled ribeye steak? This place is a must if you’re near K town.

Delicious food! Tastes sooooo good service is great! Wish I didn’t have to spend .50cents for the small side of dressing. Amazing food overall though!!! Go there minimum once a week!!!

I had the chicken short rib combo, short ribs were nice and tender overall decent. The cabbage salad taste great. We also ordered yakisoba plate which was not good at all. As for the rolls, i do not recommend them as the rice is not even seasoned. Overall i may only come back for the short ribs.

This is not a high end, lots money, beautiful decorations type place. Its ratings are based on what it you can get a quality Korean meal for an inexpensive price. The short ribs, chicken, gyoza all perfect. The price under ten bucks. Sure its a spartan place, counter service. but meat was flavorful, tender, not fatty as others suggested. the cabbage salad was a nice touch too. As in all of Ktown parking is limited offsite but there is a paid lot on premises

According to my calculations, Kushimbo is a great place for some quick food, 66.67% of the time. My experiences here have varied from 1 star, to 4, depending on who was working that day. I was impressed by their«large» portion one day, and searching for scraps the next. The taste is consistently good, but I cannot say the same about the customer service. Again, I am treated like a VIP one day, and a borderline intruder the next. I haven’t stopped in enough times to figure out which days or employees are the best, but the food is good enough for me to continue to try. Oh, and pricing also varies… Sometimes they charge me $ 2.00 to sub extra rice in lieu of salad, and sometimes they don’t. Overall, I would say 3 stars is a fair rating for now. If they start to be more consistent either way, I will adjust accordingly. I highly recommend them… or don’t… it depends.

The service here was good and friendly, the food itself was amazing! I highly recommend the Teriyaki chicken plate! It comes with a delicious salad and rice with teriyaki sauce. You could not go wrong eating this either for dinner or lunch! Definitely coming back again soon! :)

The meat and dressing that is used on the salid causes an explosion of flavors that are very unique to the pallet. Haven’t found another location that comes close to the flavor.

It was okay. The meat was decent quality. I had the short rib and chicken combo with cabbage salad. The chicken was very thin white meat that was grilled well and the short ribs were decent quality with good bbq flavor. The chicken was smothered in a teriyaki sauce and It was a little one dimensional. I love a finely shredded cabbage salad and their miso dressing is very tasty. Around $ 16, I still think it may be a little overpriced even though the portions are fair. While I was waiting for my order I stepped outside since there was not too much room to wait around inside. Some dude on some substance was talking to himself and walked by me saying«Man it smells so good!» And he went inside. He slinked around inside, and ended up just filling a cup with water and leaving. Kind of an indistinct part of K-town, but I would stick to take out instead of dining in here since there is no ambiance.

I totally thought I was going into some rustic old swanky Japanese place. This is not that type of place. Actually more of a hot and fast variety of meats on the griddle diner type place. Super casual. I ordered the number 3, Yakiniku. The plate came out and I was thinking No way could I finish this plate. I was totally and utterly wrong. I wolfed down this sucker faster than any meal I can remember. Meats are a little fatty and thin, cut it up and eat it with a dank cabbage salad with some sort of ginger vinaigrette. Served piping hot with a bowl of sticky rice. I decided to go for it with a bottle of Sopporo to wash it all down. I may be in heaven writing this review. I recommend not wearing fancy clothes here. It’s going on my regulars list of places to eat when you’re in the mood for something GOOOOD but don’t want to put in the effort of «going out». Two thumbs up.

I love this place for a cheap, but good Japanese food. I don’t have to spend much to satisfy my Japanese craving easily. I usually get beef and chicken combo, but this time I tried grilled salmon with teriyaki sauce(you get to choose how you like it cooked: teriyaki or scallion sauce or soy ginger). I was thinking of salmon of the size of iPhone 6, but it was the double-sized yummy salmon.

The only real reason why I’m reviewing is because I think the 4 stars is misleading. This is a 3 stars place, through and through, and even that is being kind. It is what it looks like: a Japanese fast food place, except it’s not a chain like Yoshinoya nor is it as cheap. Sure, you can get simple sushi rolls like a California roll for ~$ 5 here, but the entrée plates run about $ 8-$ 13. I got the #3 Yakiniku medium which is just Japanese thinly sliced grilled beef($ 8 medium, $ 10 large). All the entrees come with a bowl of white rice($ 1 charge if you want to substitute with brown rice) and a large mound of cabbage salad. I didn’t care for the cabbage salad and bit of Japanese mayo dressing. The grilled beef was pretty standard and had a bit of fat. It was doused in teriyaki sauce, but the sauce was very thin and watery… sort of like semi-sweet soy sauce. I’d read reviews that the portions were big but I scarfed down all the meat and most of the rice with no problem. This is the kind of place you go to for convenience and because you can’t go anywhere else while you’re on this block. Maybe I would understand giving it a higher rating if the prices were all $ 2 – 3 lower, but I’d rather eat at Flame Broiler or Yoshinoya and get my money’s worth.

Food: 3.5÷4 stars Service: 3 stars My friend and I were deciding what to eat and ended up coming to Kuishimbo as it is one of his«go to» restaurants if no one can decide where to eat at. For a Thursday evening, the restaurant was quite empty, I guess either people buy it «to go» or they eat earlier around 6 pm. The parking lot was full and was valet, so we opted to street park. A few of their items are crossed out with a sharpie on their menu. Guessing it was cheaper and faster than to re-print basic menus. it took awhile for us to order as all the workers were conversing with each other. We didn’t want to interrupt their conversation, so we decided to wait just a bit and then walked more in to their line of vision. I ordered the Yakiniku(thin rib-eye steak marinated in special Kuishimbo sauce), medium size, included rice and salad $ 7.95. Food portions are quite large. Good thing I ordered the medium size. Always get extra of the dressing for the cabbage salad. So good! The thin rib-eye steak was of pretty good quality but was a bit too salty because it was drenched all over with Kuishimbo sauce. Overall, not a bad place to get pretty good Japanese«fast» food. Portions are more than enough(unless you eat a lot and need to order a size up) and the price is not overpriced.

I was hungry and short on time. This place was within walking distance and seemed to fit the ‘fast food’ I was looking for so I walked on over. I ordered the medium chicken/beef combo for I believe a little less than $ 9. I got exactly what I was looking for by coming here. Food to go. Cheap price tag. Fairly large portions. Cashier was nice and friendly. So why the 3 stars? Well, I just can’t give a place like this anything higher. When I see 4 or 5 stars, I think ‘must try’. This is definitely NOT a place you must try. I actually probably wouldn’t come back. The food really just reminded me of my break meals when I used to work at Octopus Japanese Restaurant. The chicken was so dry and had no flavor. The beef was okay, i’ve had better at other beef+rice bowl type of places. If you were to eat here, I’d skip the chicken. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, both the chicken and beef were DRENCHED in teriyaki sauce. Normally I would be against this, but the chicken really needed it in order for me to even consider eating it. Given the many choices you have in this area, I would definitely skip this place.

I expected a lot from this place after seeing its rating on Unilocal, but it definitely failed to live up to my expectations. A lot of reviews praise the meat dishes here, but I was limited to veggies and fish today. Didn’t see takoyaki on the menu or else I would have tried that. It’s pretty standard fast food. There are multiple menus on the wall – some are just papers taped beneath the larger permanent menu. It was difficult to read while ordering. I ate an unagi(eel) and avocado roll with an egg roll side. The egg roll was extremely greasy. The unagi was nothing too special though I enjoyed it. My friends had teriyaki chicken and donkatsu(pork cutlet). The cutlet looked overcooked, but the breading stuck well to the meat. None of us were given rice, which other reviews say is included in the meal(weird). It took forever for my friend to get her miso soup; the place didn’t seem too busy but somehow they kept forgetting about her. She went to ask about it at least three times before it was ready. On a positive note, the place is cheap! The decorations were a quirky combination of Japanese(I assume) masks and Easter eggs, ha. The popular ‘80s music they played was a pleasant surprise. These good points might not be enough to bring me back though…
