I was on a mission to build a custom shelf/​wall unit for my tiny apartment. I had no tools or skills to even begin to accomplish this. After discovering that LA Trade Tech shut down their carpentry department, I had nowhere to turn. Enter Knowhow Shop.
A friend of mine told me about a new fabrication cooperative in Highland Park. Sort of like the Bicycle Kitchen but geared towards art/​design projects and minus the ‘tude.
Kagan et al at the KnowHow Shop know how to do EVERYTHING, are super-​nice and don’t appear to mind if you ask them questions every ten minutes. I couldn’t think of a better place to learn woodworking basics. They just got a laser cutter too! I hope to use the laser cutter and even pick up some metalworking skillz in the future with these guys.
