I love meeting the Kindred Spirits Book club here as they were fantastic company, but the food was just okay. It was great, almost private atmosphere and the owners were very polite.

Quaint little Mom & Pop operation, serving up Russian Armenian regional dishes. Both husband and wife speak limited English, but try their best to accommodate their customers. Both speak Russian and Armenian. Their xenkhalis are well seasoned, very tasty. Had them plain with black pepper. Since my friend and I couldn’t make up our minds for the main course of kababs, we ordered their combination platter for 4 for $ 50. It came with char grilled pieces of filet mignon, pork loin, lamb chops, and chicken and beef lula kababs. The combination platter came with a generous portion of rice pilaf(though a bit too much on the wet side), as well as a side salad. There was a lot of food, but some of the meats were a tad overcooked, particularly the lamb chops. Everything was well seasoned. Credit cards are accepted here.

I had a huge salad leftover for my work holiday party last night. I was trying to stomach it and force myself to finish eating it. Something was missing from the day old salad, there was a flavor that was really needed. I suddenly remembered the chicken on the salad made it so much better, pretty much elevated it to perfection. I finally figured out what would make it the perfect leftover salad– kabobs! I’m a huge fan of Middle Eastern food– like I can just keep eating and eating. I always imagine myself marrying into a family that loves to celebrate around food. Plus middle eastern men are hot. To the food. I parked on the street outside of Kavkaz. I had called earlier to check on the prices and can confirm the prices on Unilocal pics are valid. I first originally went inside and seen such a decadent dining room space, very well decorated and packed for efficiency. The tables were beautiful and had arranged lien draping from the inside out. I was instructed that for to-go I had to go around to the side. I went around to side and after the owner(I’m guessing) got off the phone I asked him a few questions. I wanted a pound of kabobs but wanted to try the lulu chicken and lulah beef. I asked if I could do half pound each and said yes. I put in my order and he told me it would be 15 mins. He cooks the food of charcoal grill, fresh right after you order it. 15 mins later, I paid and rushed home trying not to tear into the box while driving to eat it. I got home and loved the presentation and the meat made my mouth water. I enjoyed the lavash bread and onions that came with it. The chicken lulu was so juicy and every time I would cut into it the juice would pop out! The beef was cool, not the best but still very very good. The salad was perfect now– I could take some pickled veggies, kabob, onions, and salad and wrap it bit by bit in lavash– amazing! I happy I found a new place near me to get my fixin’. I don’t understand the reviews about being rude! I’m from the East Coast and many times you don’t get people being overtly happy to get praise from you. Eat the food, no one’s rude, say please and thank you. 4⁄5 until I try some other things on the menu and also come back a few more times! Thank you Kavkaz

Delicious food, no questions asked. But I’m giving one star for their terrible service and their rudeness. Also, they always mess around with your order. Either because of the language barrier or they just simply happen to hate you. And if you tell them that’s not what you ordered, they can even get on your face and yell. Simly put, three old cooks that never made it in their lives and now taking their angers out of customers. I wish there was a better way of stating the obvious.

Great lamb kebab. Friendly owners. There is one thing I hate about this place: it’s a TV-set that blasts some drama soap operas all the time which makes it impossible to relax and eat in peace. That’s why 3 stars. Other then that, the food is good.

Family owned middle eastern restaurant with delivery, pickup and dine in. It’s one of the most delicious kebab restaurants i have tried in Los Angeles. I would recommend this place to everyone who likes kabobs or middle eastern food.

The food at this Russian-Armenian-Georgian place is quite good. We had an excellent salad of excellent tomatoes, Persian cucumbers and thinly sliced onions, and a «vinegret», the vibrant purple Russian salad of beets, potatoes and celery mixed with vinaigrette. The khinkali are good but not excellent, and the plate of chicken lula kabob was outstanding, as soft as butter with a little crust on the outside, served with a big helping of «noodle-fied» rice and a big scoop of roasted eggplant salad. The waiter does not speak English. A word here, a word there, but he will ask you if you speak Russian. It will be better if you say«choot-choot»(a little) rather than just saying no. He is a very kind man and wants you to eat well, and he is proud of the food he serves, but he is not confident in his English skills. As others have said, this is Eastern European-style service: you ask for what you want, call out when you need the waiter, and expect to pay for everything(no freebies except the bread on the table). The menu is Russian-style, meaning it’s a list of everything they would serve if they had the kitchen space; I asked for mushrooms(grubny salat) and he said they didn’t have any(listen for«nyet»). Still, I would come here often if I lived nearby. Two of us stuffed ourselves shamefully(two salads, a kabob plate, four khinkali, and sparkling tarragon lemonade) for $ 38. Here, then, are at least a few words for you to get past the language barrier. Up to you if you want to try them. The food’s worth it. Delicious. Came in during lunch while here in LA, as I was craving home food and also wanted to introduce a friend to the cuisine. We did not have too much time, so took most of it to go. In short, the food was delightful, fresh, and with an unmistakable home-made touch. Borsch — simple, thick, dill-heavy; million ways to make this dish so most important is to NOT mess it up. They don’t. Kebabs — we had a variety — were all fantastic, wonderfully balanced and melted in your mouth. The real gem, however, was Khinkali — in total contrast to one review below. Absolutely superb; I wish there was a place in the Bay Area that made it this good. As far as service and how long it takes, etc. You have to have reasonable expectations. This is not a fast food place, and not one of the restaurants where everything is pre-made as much as possible. They actually COOKTOORDER, if you can imagine that… As such, if you want to be in and out and enjoy hinkali and a kebab in 20 minutes flat, it’s not going to happen — that’s not what this place(or cuisine — or culture, for that matter) is about… Lastly, the owners do speak perfectly adequate English to understand and communicate with anyone ordering from their menu; never mind if you don’t speak Russian — just go in and enjoy the food. Recommended.

Here’s the thing – the service is really horrible if you don’t speak a language that the owners do(i.e. Russian or Armenian). You will get misunderstood and the language barrier will pose a problem. You won’t get refills or babied at your table because that’s not the Eastern European way; you order what you want(in a very straight forward manner), you ask for what you want when you want it(e.g. «may I have more water, please?»), and you have to get the attention of your server. Oh well. That’s life. Order take out if anything. The food makes this place worth it. It’s truly delicious kabob and lula kabob and hummus and potatoes and rice. Mouth-watering, finger-looking authentic cuisine. My mom reminisced about some time she spent in Armenia when she ate here with me. And it’s affordable! The two of us had an appetizer, two entrees, and drinks for $ 25. Very reasonable. Depends on what cuts of meat you get, of course, but I noted that the pork was tender and the chicken was white breast meat. Choice! The pilaf was a very good side, albeit on its own it would’ve been slightly bland. The vegetable salad was crisp and well-dressed; a nice light accompaniment to the meal. And the hummus… man! A little homemade hummus and lavash and I’m a happy girl. Give it a try! Parking is a bit difficult; their lot only has two spots, but the owner assured me that you can park at the market in the back and have no problems. It’s free, but space is limited. The place accepts cash and cards, and as far as I understood there was no minimum charge. Heads up – they only serve bottled water and beverages, so the cost goes up and there are no refills on standard American drinks(cokes, water, etc.). I’d definitely recommend coming here with a Russian or Armenian friend – at least the first time. But if you’ve got a backbone, give it a go alone and taste how awesome this place is.

I came a few months ago on Sunday evening but it closed at 7 pm. Last Sunday I and my boyfriend had a chance to come here again for lunch. The parking lot is on the left side of the plaza beside 101 Freeway sharing with bakery and Armenian market. There are small about 5 tables inside and 2 tables outside and had TV for guys who want to watch some sports. I chose Chicken lula kebab. It usually comes with salad and rice. I chose potato fries instead of rice. My boyfriend chose lamp ikibir. We were going to order some more, but the waitress who I think she is an owner’s wife told me to hold on because the food we ordered would come in a big amount. And, it’s true… I could not finish it even though the kebab is so delicious. It’s home-made, so it’s so soft and yum! I love it!!! When the lady waitresses gave me the bill, she asked me kindly like my mom .lol… why I didn’t finish the food. it’s not delicious?(she asked me in Russian, but I can guess. lol… my boyfriend translated for me too.) After lunch, we stopped by the bakery which is good too. I’ll write review later :)
