I’m back and I must say Kabosu has redeemed themselves from the last review I gave. Lunch in Toluca lake on a Saturday is hard to find unless u want burgers. I was heading to Koshi the new place I found after the debacle at Kabosu. Koshi was closed and Kabosu was open so I gave it another shot… and boy I’m glad I did. The udon soup and tempura vegetables was delicious. The broth was flavorful and vegis were crispy… not greasy! I had the seafood wonton spicy soup and it was fantastic. Spicy, flavorful, and the wontons were delicious. Yuzu roll was on point, as well as, the snow crab and salmon sushi. Service has improved tremendously. I’ll definitely be back!

Frrrreeeesh and genius. If you’re looking for unique rolls, this is the place to be. The Lobster roll with truffle oil was out of this world. Probably best sushi roll I’ve ever had. Try the lemon roll and lime roll for something fresh and citrusy. Don’t forget the white truffle edamame!

So good! Being a sushi snob, I judge based on the cut of the fish, freshness and presentation and service. All are excellent. The sashimi is nicely done & refreshing and the rolls are delicious, not too heavy. Excellent service, I didn’t feel rushed and they are very attentive. Reasonably priced.

I really love this place, and it is always busy, which is a good sign. The sushi is very fresh and everyone is so pleasant. On Monday this week I wrangled my boss to go out during lunch, and we STILL had to wait, even though the rain in LA has been torrential(by our standards). We sat at the counter this time, and I was really glad we did. I love watching the chefs prep all the fish, and what was so notable for me what the chef that was taking care of us. You could just tell how much he enjoyed putting together our plates and presenting them to us. He was proud of his work and delighted we enjoyed his dishes so much. I love when people have a passion for what they are doing. His sincerity behind giving us an amazing meal, albeit lunch, was the icing on the cake! Everything is great here. I don’t have to recommend stuff because whatever you get, you’ll love!

First time coming here with my family. They had space for 9 of us. Service was attentive and the food was just about the same as Yuzu down the street. Was wondering why it didn’t have the same crowd? Looks a little more spacious too. Will come here again next time!

Discovered this gem last night! What a remarkable variety of dishes! Of course they have the standard sushi, but it’s their generous specialty rolls that really make this neighborhood restaurant stand out. Great selection of sake also. Have the truffle edamame too(I think that’s what it’s called!)

Delicious all around. Excellent fresh sushi! Had a number of rolls including the yuzu roll and lemon roll and they were unbelievable. Nice little location. Cozy! Clam miso soup was excellent. Next time I have to try Yuzu down the street which is the sister restaurant.

Kabosu has some great quality fish! My friend ordered us an appetizer that had four different types of sashimi(kind of like a mini omakase), and it did not disappoint! I’m not sure exactly what I ate, but the chef definitely knew what he was doing! As for my main meal, I ordered a chirashi. Again, loved the quality of the fish and eggs and whatnot. The rice(and was it mushrooms?) were a bit on the strange sweet side for me, but I suppose that’s how they’re normally suppose to be, it’s just not something that my taste buds are accustomed to. It also came with some veggies and noodles, if you like the idea of getting extra food with your meal. For the non-fish side, we ordered the truffle edamame. I was very tempted to eat the entire plate, but I was among friends and I suppose sharing is the kind thing to do(especially when it was my other friend, and not I, who ordered it). I also ordered dessert despite my full stomach. I forget exactly what it was called(I know, I’m a very forgetful person), but it was some sort of flourless cake with a scoop of ice cream. The cake was not bad at all, but it didn’t really stand out to me. However, the ice cream was exceptionally delicious. I absolutely loved the service! Our waitress was very kind and helpful throughout the entire night, and it just made the experience that much more enjoyable. On a final note: It’s a bit pricy for a university student like myself, but you do get what you pay for.

Exactly the same as its sister restaurant Sushi Yuzu right down the street. Great food, clean, awesome environment and identical menu! Love the Yuzu roll, the sea bass tempura green roll and the spicy seafood miso soup. I don’t know why people are complaining about the service. Everything was fine — in fact, we showed up 15 minutes before they closed for lunch and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Definitely give this place a try! You won’t regret it :)

I love Yuzu(sister to Kabosu) but Kabosu is my favorite. Great staff great vibes and the fish is always phenomenal. You gotta try it. Yellow tail belly is a must Thanks Kabosu!

Creative sushi cut roll options(jalapeño, lemon, lime) — YUM! Shisito peppers here are bigger than I’ve seen at other Sushi joints(quality and quantity). Baked Lobster roll was outstanding. Good service, even with busy lunch crowd. I’ll be a repeat customer.

The host out in the front is just the most unprofessional, rude and unfriendly person I have seen in restaurant business. He seriously need either a major training ir a completely different career. Actually the whole staff is just a collection of people who don’t give a damn about the image of the restaurant and clients. That alone will keep me away. The sushi is just average. The noise level in the restaurant will give you headache dor the rest of the day. There are plenty of better places to have sushi than here.

This is a great Lunch or dinner spot. A menu is HUGE and service is great. Sushi is fresh and delicious. I had the Yuzu roll which was delicious(but not spicy as listed and a little sweet for my taste), the spicy tuna on crispy rice which was delish!, and the sea bass roll which was also very yummy(and cooked for those that don’t want raw fish — great option!). My lunch date had a scallop roll that I was all sorts of eyeballing(looked sooo yum!) There were so many other yummy looking things on the menu I would recommend. I’ll have to go back to try some more!

There are very few Japanese restaurants that break the mold when it comes to sushi and experiment with fish that you won’t find at other restaurants. Now, I don’t do rolls. I don’t do soy sauce(or anything soy as a matter of fact, stay away from that sh** that sh** will kill you) to mask the fish. 1. Toro Belly — solid choice, pillowy, so fresh it melts like a clitoris stimulated simultaneously by a tongue & finger combo 2. Urchin — most places carry these now, very few taste like they were just shucked from the fallopian tubes of the creature. Hint of the sea, with that custard after taste 3. Spanish Mackerel — Wild caught, straight from Japan. THISFISH surprised me, did not have the tangy lemon zest that farm raised mackerels have. Superb. 4. Wild Caught Snow Crab — if you’ve ever bitten the inner thigh of a woman, same texture as the leg meat of this baby 5. Barracuda — let’s face it, you’ve never tried it. You don’t know where to find it. Well, get your ass here ASAP

Um… what? I was not expecting this to be so delicious! One of the best sushi experiences I have had in a long time! We stumbled in here for a business lunch and we were all floored at how good it was. This place was hopping at lunch time. The nigiri is amazing, especially the salmon and the albacore. The best roll by far is the Yuzu Roll was the highlight! Loved the micro greens! I also loved the albacore sashimi appetizer with crispy onions and jalapeño! Seriously, this place really surprised me! It’s one of the best sushi experiences I have had in LA and definitely, no question, in the valley!

Thank you Kabosu for being right by my neck of the woods. Look it ain’t Japan but it does have delicious food and great representation. Good service, reasonable prices and the freshness is good to go. For two people, two healthy appetites that is, it costed about $ 120 with tip. Not bad at all. The sashimi is fresh and approved by my father who’s a Japanese Chef. Does that mean anything? Ha atleast to me it does. So yes come here for a date night or just if you’re deeming a taste of Japan.
