Pretty tasty sandwiches. Slooow service. Decent prices, limited selection. This place is like the sandwich counter at Safeway. Nothing great, but reliable sandwiches. They bake their own bread in the premises. Get it? Just baked. Also sell sushi. Weird. And have never tried but people seem to order it.

I come here for sushi since you know there’s a huge sign outside stating that they have sushi to purchase. I go to order and woman tells me the only sushi they have is the sushi that’s in their open fridge(that is definitely not up to code in keeping sushi at it’s correct temperature) and that has already been sitting out for hours in a plastic container. There’s no ORDERHERE sign so I just order with the cashier(like any typical food joint) a sandwich since they can’t live up to their sushi expectations, I pay and wait and wait and wait and wait and three others that came after me received their sandwiches, I give the cashier an annoyed look and she was like ‘ohhhh you didn’t order?!’ I’m like are you kidding me there’s only 4 customers here and you barely noticed my sandwich wasn’t being made and decided to tell me I have to place my order with someone else to get my food after I already ordered with you and have been sitting impatiently for over 10 minutes. Then she just tells me to wait another 10 minutes after she takes someone else’s order and finally after a long unnecessary rude wait she hands me my sandwich box with no napkins, no bag to carry it the box and canned soda. Wasted my time and the food sucks on top of it all. Never order the Italian sandwich WORSTSANDWICHEVER and the chipotle panini I ordered almost sucked just as bad. I tired to give this place a second shot but I’ve just come to the conclusion it just sucks.

Ah, this is hit or miss. I guess reading from the other reviews that this place recently changed management. I don’t know anything about that I just recently started to check this place out. The sandwiches are fine, they aren’t too flavorful but that’s a matter of opinion. I happen to enjoy their vegetarian options. The service is really nice too so that’s great. A few things that could be improved are that it takes a really long time to make a sandwich. I don’t really mind that so much because I imagine it has to do with the hand crafted amazingness of this sandwich. The other thing is the breakfast burrito. My god do not order the breakfast burrito. Somewhere along the restaurant planning it seems that this menu item was just an appendix to the restaurant story. to say, yes we should have breakfast burritos. but no one knew how to make it. I would like to see them hiring a burrito contractor to do a survey of their burrito operations and make changes where necessary. Oh man it was so bad. Eat the sandwiches, they’re good. Greet the employees, they are nice. Don’t be in a rush, it will take a while. Do not eat the breakfast burrito. If you follow these rules then you should be doing good.

In preparation for spending a lot of time in LA on business, I am in search of the perfect place to eat breakfast. Just baked eatery comes pretty close on this list. I am a huge fan of their breakfast combinations. 4.99 for bagel, lox and tomatoes/onions plus a coffee or tea.(still getting used to how tax pushes it to about 5.50, but that is another issue). Pretty sure all of their other breakfast sandwiches were also the same price, so definitely a good value. The staff here is very nice. Will be coming back!

This is a good choice for lunch if you are in the area. On my first visit, I wanted sushi. You can get them made to order or pick a pre-made package. This refrigerated display also has seaweed salad and a few side salads. I like the sweet broccoli salad with a little mayo and I think bacon pieces. Either way, it’s a little pricey(around $ 3) but delicious and nutritious. The sushi chef is helpful and nice. Although he does not speak fluent English, he walked over to the packaged sushi and explained to me what each contained. The prepackaged rolls are large, 8 pieces. If you ask for extra ginger, you get a lot. The prices of the rolls and sushi are reasonable and the quality is good for what you pay. I’ve had tuna and salmon sushi and a tempura shrimp roll. I want to try a rice bowl as well. There is a good selection for sushi, rolls and other Asian dishes. I think the service is good, too. There is a good selection of cold drinks, some Asian, some American brands. I like how they carry low sodium V-8. You can also get some froyo. There is a counter to eat indoors or outdoor tables that are literally cool because you’ll eat in the shade. The pic one Unilocaler posted of the bagel with cream cheese and lox made my mouth water. That is served only on the breakfast menu, which I believe ends at 10:30 am. Either way, I’m gonna try it soon!

Basically, it’s a food option in the building — it falls somewhere between the cafeteria and the convenience store(probably only marginally above the convenience store). Still, if you forgot to bring food & don’t feel like going anywhere, there’s this. So far I’ve tried the sandwiches, soups, sushi, and instant noodles — yep, it’s a thing of instant noodles that they add water to for you. I actually really like the mini chocolate cookie they give you with the sandwiches and you can also buy a full-sized version.

Any sandwich shop that uses Frisco bakery rolls is worth a try and I wasnt disappointed.Solid quality Italian cold cuts, shredded lettuce and some great creamy aoli sealed the deal. I’ll be back.

I had a croissant breakfast sandwich. The egg whites were nice and fluffy with melts cheddar cheese on top. The croissant was flaky and light. Overall a nice experience.

I walk past this place every morning on my way to work, and it looks so nice, I thought I’d stop by for breakfast. It took about 20 minutes for me to get one breakfast burrito – and it didn’t even taste good! That’s just unforgivable. One woman took my order and made my food(and all the other food orders) while another woman just stood there staring off into space waiting for people to come to her register.(One other guy was furiously making sushi rolls, so I understand why he didn’t help.) Couldn’t Lazy Lady toast and schmear the bagels while the other woman cooked? Would that really have been so hard? And after I ordered, the woman disappeared in the back for five minutes. I thought she was making my food, but she didn’t start that until she came back. What the hell was she doing back there? They have a cold case with a billion different canned and bottled drinks(mostly teas and sodas), but their non-sushi food menu is surprisingly small. And why the hell would a place called Just Baked sell sushi rolls anyway?

I tried a sandwich here once and I don’t plan on going back. It was pretty bad. I got a veggie sandwich and it was very bland and I wanted to just throw it away. I ate part of it and just threw it away and it had iceburg lettuce, who eats that crap anymore? I like the location so was hoping it could be a new spot to eat but I was sadly mistaken. I give it one star because the people working there were friendly, so they got that going for them. Maybe meat sandwiches are better but that doesn’t really help when you’re a vegetarian.

Just Baked is located in my office building and i am very happy to have it. There sandwiches are great and the bread they use is warmly toasted. They also have a small sushi section that is made fresh daily. They are messed up a few months back when they decided to switch there bread, but the realized the mistake and the bread is better than ever. Sushi quality is pretty consistent, ive had a few questionalbe cuts but overall $$$/value i like the place.

It was such a beautiful day; it would have been a crime to not get out at lunch. So, that is just what I did. I play this new game where I just begin to walk in downtown LA and then access the«near by» function on Unilocal to see what happens to be around the corner. This strategy has unearthed some real finds. Today, I ended up at Just Baked. Now, the logo looks like a football or baked potato and the restaurant name is reminiscent of the general demeanor of those at a Dead Show, or I guess it is Phish these days, huh? Wow! I am not too hip anymore. Actually, I doubt Phish is hip anymore either. Oh, man! I am depressed. Anyway, I quickly scanned the reviews and saw they were kind of a «mixed bag.» I was felling charitable and decided to try them anyways. I went with a turkey and Swiss on fucaccia bread. The sandwich came dressed with mayo, mustard, shredded ice berg lettuce and tomato. The bread didn’t taste very fucaccia– like, but none the less was good. The turkey was fresh and the Swiss had a nice bite to it. The pickle was the best part of the meal and while I appreciated the cookie surprise inside my sandwich bag, its blandness left me hanging. In all, this was a very solid sub sandwich. It felt like the type of sandwich you’d take for a day on the beach or in the park or for a hike: healthy, not overly fancy and certainly filling meal. However, there was nothing overly compelling about this sandwich either. I was certainly happy with my meal, in the beautiful warm air, but not sure how often I will make my way back. I mean, there are endless options in DTLA. It sounds like they have gone through an ownership change and even recently changed their bread. Hmm? Perhaps, it is time to change that logo from the potato football looking thing too?

So, it’s been a while since my initial review and this place has definitely gone downhill since the new owners took over. Yes, the sandwiches are big, but they are mostly the sourdough bread and shredded iceberg lettuce. YUCK. Their prices have gone up big time in the last year while the quality of the food has gone to crap. Their bagels are brought in, not fresh made like before. The only shining star is the brownie cookies — from a boxed brownie mix. Seriously, you can make them at home and save yourself the $. Right now, business is booming because the cafeteria inside the Tower is closed for remodeling but when it opens next week, Just Baked is gonna feel the impact. Now, the SUSHI is BOMB, yes SUSHI. That’s what happens when you bring in a real sushi chef. The rolls are HUGE and yummy. So, if you’re going to venture to Just Baked, try the sushi, as hilarious as it sounds…

I like this place. They fresh bread is awesome and the sandwiches are good… Its what you expect from a sandwich place but the kicker is the fresh sourdough bread. The employees are super nice and always willing to help you out. They also have a breakfast sandwich for 5 bucks which is good. So its a good place to grab a bite to eat if your in the area.

Just Baked is in an office building right across the street from the Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles. This is a great place to for a breakfast sandwich or grab a Deli sandwich for lunch — and the prices are far more reasonable than anything you can buy to eat in the Millennium Biltmore. Had lunch here one day — ordered the 8″ Italian. Should have opted for the 6″ in hind sight — as the sandwich was huge! Several kinds of Italian cold cuts, Provolone cheese, mayo and mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, Jalapenos and Peperoncini, a dill pickle spear — plus a bag of Sun Chips and a bottle of water. Also got a breakfast sandwich here one morning: Sesame bagel with cream cheese and Lox, plus a bottle of water. Absolutely scrumptious and outstanding! I believe they close around 5:00 pm. Staff is friendly and service is good!

It’s in my building, the Gas Company Tower, and at first, it was the easy place to go since I get those… «I’m so busy I can’t even grab lunch!» days, practically… every day. They are fast, and I’m in and out in under 5 minutes, in most days(and I’m there so much the owner once let me go without paying because he knows most everyone at our firm). Of course, I paid with someone else’s money(long story), so you get an idea of how often I’m there. Not disappointed yet. The service’s great(some girls better than others, there’s a slow one there), the owner’s a fellow Korean(I can tell, plus once he had a friend who was speaking to him in Korean), and though I’m an advocate for sponsoring Korean businesses, I’d still go here even if it wasn’t Korean owned. They purchase these sourdough bread that they bring into an oven right before they are cut for sandwiches, which keeps the outside a little crispy(not like the real French Bread, if you know what real french bread’s supposed to be like), while keeping the inside of the bread, lightly warm. The ingredients are easy: mayo, mustard(spicy or regular), shredded lettuce, red onion, and tomatoes(for most sandiwches, except the Hummus, with your choice of meats. The ones I’ve tried: Pastrami: one of my favorites, it’s not greasy, it’s meaty and it’s warm. I like the pastrami with the russian sauce without mayo or mustard. Ham & Cheese: I like my ham(just like true Europeans, without all the veggies, just Ham, Cheese and Mayo. If you know anything about Ham, like real ham you would get at a whole foods or in France, it’s comparable. Hummus: Another one of my favorites, it does not have the lettuce and stuff, but instead, it has Hummus spread and a light olive oil and vinaigrette salad from the«mixed greens» package you get at the market’s veggie section. Marinated Beef: It’s your bulgogi on sourdough, and if you’re Korean, you already know what that should taste like because we’ve all sandwiched bulgogi before! For everyone else: it’s the lightly soysauce beef marinated with light garlic and onion. It’s quite good. BLT: or your distant cousin, it’s your club sandwich without the turkey. Not a lot of Bacon(and they give you tons of other meats for the other sanwiches, I can’t imagine why the bacon’s so lacking), it wasn’t that good. If you want good BLT, get it at Trimana’s accross the street. Salami: Just as what you would expect, the salami’s of good quality, their swiss cheese brings out the saltiness, and the lettuce and tomato compliment it by making it a little more refreshing. It’s one of my preferred ones as well. Soups: Chicken tortilla, Corn Chowder(my favorite!), Cream of Broccoli, they are all good and you can tell it was made that morning. They sneak into your sandiwch a chocolate chip chocolate cookie that’s chewy but kind of crispy on the outside, that is delicious. I once bought the giant one, which caused me chocolate overload. So the one small cookie they give you it’s enough to leave you satisfied with that«wanting more» taste in your mouth — but you shouldn’t have more… type of feeling. I like the owner, he seems like a guy that’s easy to get along with. He’s pretty cool, and apparently knows almost everyone at our firm. — — — — — — — — — — – New owners, and all of the old staff is gone. The sandwiches have half the meat now, they have changed the integrity of everything that was good about this place, there’s no more soup, and best of all: old, cheap sushi. This works great for anyone who doesn’t know anything about eating sushi, but seriously, EEL is not supposed to feel like dried squid. It’s awful.

At the mercy of the city surroundings after heating up a soup gone bad, I ventured into Just Baked for a replacement meal. In fact, I just ate my sandwich, and I have to say that Just Baked is just okay. For $ 8.18 I got a «small»(6in) prosciutto with Swiss cheese. After inspecting the tomatoes and turning them down I went with lettuce, vinaigrette sauce of some kind and nada mas. Got my sandwich and pickle, and found a nice little cookie nestled inside when I returned back to my desk. The bread is not bad, but does a job on my palate(both upper and lower) making it feel like I’ve just munched on rocks. I don’t respect sandwich shops who use shredded lettuce, especially when you’re promoting fresh ingredients. Use something better please. The cheese was fine, but the most disappointing of it all? The prosciutto. It was like having ham, and while«cut from the same cloth» prosciutto should not be like ham. It wasn’t flavorful like prosciutto, nor was the texture like typical prosciutto. It was like having really chewy bacon, which to some might be okay. The best part of it all? The cookie. A brownie type of crispy meets crunchy in the best way possible. After reading some of the other reviews I’d say it might be best to have the baked goods and skip the sandwich. And those pictures of the girls who work there? Definitely a good representation. They’re really friendly and have great smiles.

Man I love these guys. I have some sick and twisted obsession with almond poppy seed muffins and they actually made almond poppy seed lemon muffins just for me. Come on, who does that? They also have the most amazing, albeit perhaps not the healthiest, raisin bran muffins with cream cheese centers and respectable sugar free(made with splenda) blueberry muffins. The chocolate chip muffin tastes like cake, but that’s why you’re eating a muffin anyway. They have a chocolate banana muffin and banana nut muffin as well but I stay away from the banana flavored things in life. The coffee is quite fancy: Rwanda /Organic type brews with even a carafe of soy milk alongside the obligatory half and half and nonfat milk. And the sandwiches? Made with fresh sourdough bread on-site and stuffed with high quality fillings. I get the avocado veggie which has a generous schmear of avocado spread(basically mashed avocados), all the veggie fixings your heart desires and grey poupon. The thing weighs close to a L-B. Cupcakes are made daily(usually red velvet and carrot). The red velvet cake is ultra bright red(not to be confused with reject-from-the-science-lab bright) with a fairly sweet cream cheese frosting. I have yet to try the carrot cake, but sometime soon, my friends. Now, I’m, dishing out the five stars because they really went above and beyond the call of duty by making me poppy seed muffins, however I do have one gripe. My colleague ordered the lox bagel and the cream cheese was spread on like butter and I don’t mean that in a cool«buttah» way. I mean that as in scraped on, low LDL cholesterol 4-life kind of way. It was just weird. The fellow making it needs to be taken to a Jewish deli for some on the job training STAT. Besides that, hurray for this new bakery in downtown LA and I hope they make it!

Four words: Freshly baked sourdough bread. Today for lunch, I was on my merry way to splurge at Carl’s Jr. when I ran into a colleague of mine coming back from his lunch. I told him I had a coupon for a nice«juicy» portabello mushroom burger and he suggested I try his friend’s sandwich shop instead. It’s brand new; just opened 11 days ago. As an avid Unilocaler, I’m a sucker for new places and I also took this as a sign that I should be eating healthy. So, I agreed to go and my friend was even kind enough to walk me to the place. When I arrived, it looked like a very clean, ordinary sandwich shop. There were a row of people behind the counter and a long chalkboard looking menu above them. From what I remember, there were 17 different kinds of sandwiches. My friend suggested the pastrami sandwich. After I ordered the pastrami, my friend goes,“It’s pretty good. Everything is freshly made. Even the mayo is freshly made.“ Me: «What? They put mayo in the sandwich??» Friend: «Yeah, you didn’t know there’s mayo in your sandwich?» M: «No, I don’t really get pastrami sandwiches» F: «It’s okay, the mayo’s made fresh so you’ll be fine.» M:(looks puzzled) «oh…okay.» I told them to go light on the mayo. I also got to choose between spicy mustard or regular. I got the regular. And I was able to choose whether I wanted my sandwich hot or cold. I got hot because I like the melted swiss cheese goodness. I checked out and was pleasantly surprised that my order came with a complimentary chocolate cookie. What a great perk! The people who worked there were a great bunch! Everyone was friendly and cooperative. Now, my sandwich: Once I took a bite, I thought to myself, «Mmm I haven’t had such a soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, fresh, right-out-of-the-oven kind of bread in a long, long time.» The pastrami was lean, so it tasted healthy. It’s not your typical«The Hat» kind of greasy goodness, but that’s a good thing because the last thing you need is a food coma and heart burn going back into the office. It’s a fairly hefty sandwich, so you get quite a bang for your buck($ 7.95 for mine). I could only finish half. The cookie: not bad. It was definitely like a fresh baked cookie. It’s only soft literally right out of the oven. Once it sits a while, it gets hardened. I’m a soft cookie kind of gal. This one was crispy. Not bad, but not my preference. Overall: yes, please do come here. It’s always great to support mom-n-pop places, especially in tough economic times. And how often do you get to eat pipin hot, FRESHLY baked bread? Little side tidbits: They have red velvet cupcakes for $ 1.25 and they bake their bagels in house every morning. Just come here already.
