It’s essentially same thing you would find in Korea today. Place is small though. Although if there are so many options in this plaza. Parking is also convenient.

My family and I came to eat brunch here on Tuesday. My brother and dad ordered the yukaejang(spicy beef soup) & my mom and I ordered the doganitang(beef tendon soup). I was rather pleased with the doganitang, the stock was thick, creamy, and had the beefiness that most people can’t get. With the side dishes that compliment the soups, like kkakdoogi & kimchi, and a load of chopped green onions and salt to add to your taste buds needs, this place was pretty good for me. My brother and dad however, did not seem to think so. Their yukaejang was bland and did not have the roots that a typical yukaejang has. It was very close to just a regular broth. The restaurant is small, so I would say only have 1 or 2 people with you since they do like to put random people sitting next to each other. And the place is quite busy even for brunch. It takes the ahjummas(waitresses) a bit to clean up after a table but they’re very polite and very nice! I’d come here again for their doganitang and I’ll try the popular item – sullungtang.

The ladies are super nice and give you lots of kkakdugi. Their sulungtang I think is better than a few other places I tried(hanbat, sunondang sp?). Milky, flavorful, clean, rich :) everything you look for in a good sulungtang!

Had the sul lung tang here. The soup was alright. Hanbat is definitely better. However the ladies are so nice and also gives u extra broth when I didn’t even ask for it. The was really good and wanted to ask if I can buy it and take it home

Amazing sollongtang! It is my all-time favorite comfort food. Although it’s called ‘bland’ broth by name, the soup is rich — just add salt and green onions to your taste. I’ve tried Hanbat, but I always end up coming here instead because their kimchi is way better. Their ggakdugee(radish kimchi) is still the best I’ve ever had!

Basically, this is a Korean hole-in-the-wall place that serves a solid sullunngtang. People rave about Han Bat Sullungtang which is probably the best known restaurant in Koreatown for their sullungtang. However, I would highly recommend trying restaurants like Juntong. Now that I have been to both, I would say that both are about equal in terms of taste. I do like how they do take credit card here though unlike Han Bat. Located close to one of the busy BCD tofu houses and no flashy signage, it is easy to miss. However, I am glad I found it because the food was pretty awesome. Like most Korean restaurants, if you notice their name carries a certain food item, that is what they are supposed to be well known for. And the sullungtang at Juntong did not disappoint! Sullungtang — an awesome homey milky beef broth with noodles and pieces of beef that is the perfect thing to order when you are feeling sick or down. For many the soup does have the intense beef flavor but a little bland, If you are in that camp, I would highly recommend adding salt and green onions to add extra kick. I personally like taking the pieces of kimchi and letting the red pepper sauce flavor the soup. If you are to order the sukkuh sullungtang which is about $ 2 more than your standard sullungtang, you are getting more beef pieces like intestine and tripe. I personally love the chewiness and the flavor of these cuts of meats but it is not meant for everyone! The banchan(side dishes) were pretty good. I loved the kkaduki(radish kimchi) because it had a nice crunch and slightly sweet to help cut the spiciness. My main critique would be that this place, like many other hole in the wall places in Ktown, are not very friendly for patrons who are not Korean. There were no visible menus in English when I got there and the waitress unfortunately did not speak much English. Other minor cons were that the place did not appear super clean. However, this should not deter you from trying this place! Parking is plenty available in the lot. Overall, I would recommend trying this smaller Korean restaurant mainly for the sullungtang!

I ate here since I was 7 years old. The side dishes aren’t that great(too much sugar for it to be called korean kimchi) but the soup is great. I might be biased because I have eaten there my whole life, but it’s the best I have tasted in restaurants(my mom makes the best). Worth a try if you’re around the area and you really want something savory and warm. Remember to add some radish kimchi sauce in your soup, green onion, noodle, and salt!

Just great sulungtang. I have brought my wife here. My siblings. My parents. Even my one white friend who is down to try«bone marrow soup». I love this place. Great side dishes. Fast, friendly service. My go to place for the ultimate hangover cure.

My mom said this is prob only sulungtang place in ktown that uses little or no MSG. Their soup is very rich and really good kimchi! The waitresses are really cool and down to earth. No bullshit personality. Only thing was that there were so many flies going around it was really grossing me out. The lady wad going around killing flies.

THEBESTSULUNGTANG I HAVEEVERHADINMYLOIFE! I always get sulungtang at this place. It is very rich compared to other sulungtang places in Ktown. I do not really like clear-almost see-through sulungtang. Although some people like it mild… I LIKEITRICHHHHH If you are like me(; Go to Juntong Sullongtang. And EATTHATSULLONGTANGGOOD.

This place has been around since I remember in college. Restaurant don’t stick around unless they are good. Still awesome galbitang and good yukgajang as always… for past thirty years as long as I can remember. Awesome. Recommend.

Definitely a good place to go for sulung tang… but their radish kimchee is so good that I usually ask for 2 or 3 more. The waitresses are usually pretty helpful and don’t give you weird looks for asking for so much extra kimchee. lol

Definitely a good sullongtang place in terms of portion, price, and taste. We had a sullongtang(a white beef soup with noodles) and bookuhgook(a clear dried pollack soup). Both tasted good and clean. Also, their kimchi and kkakduki were really good. They open early and close pretty late.

This review is for yukgaejung only(didn’t try sullungtang). The place is kinda small, about 10 tables with no TV nor music. I only waited a few minutes for my food to come out. You get only 2 kinds of banchan, which was regular kimchee and radish one. Since I’m not a big fan of old sour kimchee, their fresh kimchee was a plus!

This is my favorite suhlung tang restaurant. It’s comparable to Han Baht, but trust me, this place is much better. Their kimchi tastes a lot fresher and sweeter too. The food comes out very quickly and if you call in to-go, you can receive your order within minutes. My friends in college would come here early in the morning after a night of drinking — it’s a great hangover soup cure! This restaurant also takes credit cards.

My husband’s friend has been coming here for years. He calls it «old school», but let’s me honest, it’s a dive. Lots of old salt of the earth people eating there. We had sulungtang, which is a bone marrow stock with beef and noodles. Kinda like phở, but much richer. They give you a big vat of sea salt and chopped green onions which was used to season our soup. Very tasty! Will be back!

Wanted some soup so came here because 1) I did not want soon tofu from the next-door store, and 2) Why not try? Food came out real fast and overall I thought it was okay. We were served water from the stainless rice bowls and thought ‘wtf?’ because that is pretty weird and water wasn’t even that cold. I saw mid-30 people at like 11PM who were probably here after a party or something(the men’s faces were red). Overall not bad experience food-wise, but I don’t know if I will come back for few reasons. 1) Serving lady was coughing… I know you are sick but please stay home :(I don’t want to get sick because of you… — she was going in and out of the kitchen… no gloves or anything so I was very iffy on eating side dishes. 2) Water«bowl» experience… which was something my dad was somewhat displeased with. There were cups there… But I think it still was a better choice than the next-door soon tofu…

I saw it on the street and I was craving korean soup, so i decided to try it. I went in and it was all korean ahjussi and ahjooma(older men and women). You can tell it was straight up korean fob restaurant catered for koreans.(hence the low Unilocal reviews) Definitely looked like where the elders go after a early round of golf. I ordered to go and I got the food in about 10 minutes. I don’t think they speak english well, so you may have to point and use some body language. Food was decent. But I only tried one dish, yook gae jang. But I had better. However I heard some older people coming out the restaurant saying how good it was.

Been on a roll lately trying to try out the different Korean food in Ktown besides Mountain Café(which is also excellent). We came to the same plaza for Ma Dang Kook Su the other night and figured we should give Juntong a try also! What we ended up getting: Excellent Sam gye tang which the bf loves since there’s not as much garlic compared to that of Mountain’s. Pretty refreshing broth, some egg slices on top. And of course the bf throws in lots of chopped green onion on there as well. Yummy Sullongtang(original) just wanted to try out the basics before I move onto the fancy stuff. It was so good! Though I think personally I like Han Bhat’s a little better. I may have to go to both again and compared to see. But good broth with delicious soft slices of brisket. The noodle inside is not quite the glass noodle but a more thicker noodle that was more opaque and white. Delicious with about a scoop of salt and a handful of the green onion. Kim chi and gaakdokki were the side dishes and the bf loves fresh cabbage kimchi so this place is a hit! We’ll be back ;) ===================== 1 star — «will be telling everyone to stay away» bad 2 stars — it’s okay, i won’t return 3 stars — it’s okay, i’ll come back 4 stars — it’s pretty good, i’ll come by again! 5 stars — it’s really good, my go-to places!
