I can only rate on the experience, not the food since I never even got to eat the food. I went at lunch time and ordered a pepperoni calzone. The a couple of guys behind me ordered 2BBQ chicken calzones. After paying and waiting awhile the two guys behind me got their calzones and mine was nowhere to be seen. The cashier asked the cook where it was and he acted like he had no idea he was supposed to make it. Even though I heard the cashier tell him a couple of times that I ordered a pepperoni calzone. So the cook made a couple of pizzas then made my calzone. When I finally got it, the cheese in the center wasn’t even close to melted and it was a pepperoni and mushroom calzone. I don’t like mushrooms or calzones with lukewarm cheese so I took it back. They asked for another one, but at this point it had been about 30 minutes so I just asked for my money back and ate somewhere else. There are plenty of other places to eat around here, I don’t think I’ll ever have to go back and try Johnnie’s again.

Ahhhh, never again. Tried the calzone, and the crust was dense, cheese didn’t taste flavorful, and the worst was that it comes sprinkled with this VERYSTINKY parmesean. The marinara that comes with it is sour/metallic and gross. Not to mention, it took forever to get my food. People who ordered calzones after me got theirs first. Humph.

Honestly, this is the best SPANICH pizza I ever had! I’m a picky pizza person n this is hands down. I tried multiple pizzas around dtla but this is it. It’s got that nice salty taste to the pepperoni and the cheese… the cheese is the best part of it all. It is perfectly layered where you can see the cheese was melted right and when u take a bite of it. It’s still gooey n hot. Advice: eat it right away. #fatgirlProblems

Honestly the best NY style pizza I’ve ever had. I come here for lunch often because it’s too damn delicious. Slices are huge and it’s located next to a Famima so I can go buy a bottled soda to go with it. It’s my super fast and easy hot lunch option because the pizza is made fresh and each pizza sells off quickly so they keep restocking it continuously.

This is my second favorite pizza place downtown. It is in a food court, but that’s okay. The ingredients they use are solid top to bottom. Good crust, good sauce, good cheese. Hard to go wrong. They will usually have at least 3 – 4 different pizzas to get a slice from. They are also fresh enough that they don’t have to reheat it in the pizza oven. Believe me when I tell you that is a real plus and a primary reason I keep going back. They have a combo that hits all the classic pizza highlights — pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, mushrooms. I always make sure I get one off those as part of my lunch when I hit these guys up. I just wish they stayed open later. Sometimes, when I am working late, pizza is what I need and I unfortunately can’t go there at 6 or 7 pm. Oh well.

This pizza place is located in a nice food court in DTLA. I was just passing by and decided to try out their Margherita Pizza. It was dry in my opinion. As for the price, I think it was around $ 2/slice. Not bad. I do hope they would improve because they have a lot of competition near the area.

I had two slices of peperoni because the guy behind the counter said that is all they have besides cheese. The pizza was mediocre, I felt it lacked flavor. I threw in a bunch of peppers just so it had some flavor.

We order Johnnie’s at work sometimes for meetings or friday lunches. I’ve only really had the pizza and I’m sold. The cheese is good, no complaints there. My favorite, though, is the white pizza. It’s a nice slab of a slice of cheese, spinach, and oily goodness. Yes, oily. It’s pizza! Good for a quick slice while at work or if in the area. I usually don’t have the time to leave the building so it caters to my needs.

My rating is solely based on their pizzas. It is simply awesome! I work nearby and I’ve eaten their pizza for a month straight without getting sick of it. They take fresh baked pizzas out of the oven very often. Make sure you snatch a slice of those when it comes out and you’ll have a great time eating it. Plus it’s like $ 2 – 3 a slice. How can you fail.

Never again! Ok I thought I liked this place, but one bad experience and it’s over. Good: The spaghetti and meatballs are very good priced ok. BAD: I thought I liked the lasagna but the last time I ordered I noticed he heated in the microwave on a paper plate covered in plastic wrap. Gross. It harden the edges and dried it out. My stomach felt queezy after. Yuck

When I’m at the office and I feel like having a slice of pizza, I usually go here. Honestly, I’d rather go to Big Mama’s & Papa’s, but I sometimes get lazy to walk over there. Lol! Johnnie’s pizza is alright, nothing to rave about. It’s cheap and the pizza is not too bad. Can’t complain.

Quick, cheap, and greasy! They should dub Johnnie’s «Home of the Grease Pie». And I’m not kidding! It’s kind of ridiculous that you need half a roll of Brawny to soak up the grease alone before eating. The pizza itself is serviceable, but wait for a fresh pie to come out, as the slices in the window get pretty nasty after sitting out under the heat lamp. I only come here for lunch once in a blue moon, usually when I’m on a tight budget for lunch and end up just grabbing a couple of slices of pizza to go. I would recommend only stopping in the same reason, or if you are in a time crunch. Otherwise, there’s a ton of other places to eat in the Underground that are a stone’s throw away.

There is only one thing to concern yourself with here: The NY White Pie. «this beauty is made with garlic cream sauce and sauteed spinach» This is the only thing that I consider excellent on this menu. I would give that pizza 4 stars all by itself. The rest of the menu brings the quality down though. Most of the other pizzas are too greasy, even for NY style. I recommend you eat it immediately. Get it made fresh and eat it there or nearby, don’t do delivery. If you go here around lunch time you are going to be stuck in a decent sized line. Luckily, this place took over a horrible, horrible, restaurant called«Taco Time» that failed miserably. It is/was home to BOTH the worst burrito and worst taco I have ever chewed on and spit out.

2.5 $ 5 and some change for a slice, salad and a drink is probably one of the cheaper meals in Downtown. Mind you, the pizza is just okay. If you’re a pizza fanatic, I wouldn’t recommend it. But this slice was better than any of the other pizza joints within a 5 block radius that I’ve tried. The salad was fresh though and they are generous with the dressing. I do have to note a found a chunk of chicken in the garden salad so that was a bit odd. It was composed of romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded carrots and diced squash. The pizza I chose was the«specialty» which today was a 5-topping pizza(pepperoni, sausage, onions, green bell pepper and mushroom). They also offered a vegetarian specialty which today was spinach. The other two pies they offer daily is cheese and pepperoni. The shop is located next to that nasty Samurai Sam’s and the seating isn’t too busy(unlike the rest of the food court) in front of the gym.
