I had a good old fashion breakfast sandwich, egg, bacon, cheese on a sour dough bread. It was delicious at a reasonable price. I’m definitely coming back!!!

The day after I moved into my new place I was in desperate need for coffee and JJ’s was one of the few places open when I ventured out(I wasn’t interested in Starbucks, wanted to try the local places first.) I went in for an Americano and ended up picking up an omelette as well. I asked if I could do egg whites and they were very accomadating. I’ll be honest — when mixing bell peppers and tomatoes with eggs, some places end up with a watery mess. Not JJ’s — it was well balanced and hit the spot. I’ll definitely be stopping by again.

I have been going to JJ’s for a while and went in today to find that the friendly owners have handed their business down to their nephew. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first. To my surprise, my breakfast burrito was AMAZING and I definitely will be back!

These sandwiches are better than Cole’s. There, I said it. I moved downtown in November and immediately began searching for good cheap food in my area. Luckily I moved in right across the street from JJ’s. The sandwiches are solid, as are the specials. I’d recommend the chicken and avocado(I think) and the egg salad. I’m not always a fan of egg salad, but they make it fresh and it’s super tasty. Like, super tasty. In terms of specials, there’s a bulgogi burrito which is delicious. With all these hipster joints opening up downtown, small, cheap shops like these are getting forced out. I was talking to the owner today and he was saying that they’ve been there for 25 years. It would be a travesty if they didn’t stick around. So, here I am, writing this review. Go eat here. You won’t regret it.

It is what it is. Basic food, coffee and service but with a fair price to match. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese along with a coffee. I had to wait 15 minutes for a bagel that hardly had any cheese on it.

A little gem in dtla! Stopped in for a sandwich and was impressed the the taste and quality of the food. Customer service was excellent. Though their menu is short, they have excellent, simple sandwiches. I got the BLAT(bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato) on sourdough. Order came quickly and everything tastes fresh. Boyfriend got the philly cheese sandwich, which he liked. Only complaint was the sandwiches were a touch small for the price. I will definitely be back to try the breakfast selection — it looks awesome!

I had best breakfast burrito. Stopped by without any expectation but now I am very please. Outside look was not very appealing and hesitated to got in. but when I tasted the food, It was just great. The owner(previously work at the high end restaurant in west hollywood) said he recently took over his father’s friend business. He uses only fresh ingredients like daily cut in house vegetable. After small talk with the owner, now I understand why the food tasted so good. Best answer for the great food are always starting with good ingredient with passion from the people who makes it. I do not come to LA down town very often, however I highly recommend for my husband who has business nearby and other Unilocal people.

I usually stop in here for their Korean Tacos which are mighty tasty. I had an hour to kill before work this morning and gave their breakfast burrito a try, was delicious! Their homemade spicy salsa is a must! Next visit I plan to try their cauliflower tacos. Check out my photos included

Stopped by this place on my trip to LA. This place is so cozy and I had the most amazing breakfast sandwich here(check out my photo)! Perfect spot to swing in and grab your breakfast and morning coffee! I’m sure their lunch options are just as amazing. I also love that they sell Meiji chocolate mushroom cookies here! The owner is super nice and can suggest some options if you’re stumped and can’t make a decision. Overheard that they are expanding their menu… Next time I’m back in LA, can’t wait to try out other options off the menu!

We used JJ’s Sandwich Shop as our main food entrée for a brunch bridal shower we were throwing for a friend. We ordered 4 grilled chicken sandwiches, 2 breakfast burritos, and 2 bagel sandwiches, which cost us less than $ 60. I appreciated that we could order the day before and get our order ready the morning after at 8am without any problems. Everyone at the bridal shower agreed that that sandwiches, burritos, and bagel sandwiches were great and very flavorful. They used the freshest ingredients, so you don’t have to worry about that here. They were kind enough to pack tapatio, tabasco, and ketchup into the bag so that we could enjoy the meal even more. If you need to pre-order sandwiches for an event like a birthday or bridal shower, check out this place. We were really happy with how everything turned out. I would definitely order from them again.

Chicken Sandwich with Sun Dried Tomatoes — the one word that comes to mind is FRESH and of course yum. For a small mom/pop establishment, I was impressed with how all the ingredients were unbelievably tasty, fresh and it just felt extremely healthy and clean. Service is top notch, owner is extremely friendly. Will return for their other food options!

I come here at least once a week since it’s down the street from work. Service is always quick and friendly. Like others have shared, they usually give you a slice of watermelon while you wait. To me, this really just goes the extra mile. The sandwiches are so good. My favorite is the Club House. It’s bacon and turkey perfection.

I’ve been in here twice before because they make the most delicious green tea slushie! I’ve had a breakfast sandwich here that was pretty good. It’s not a fancy gourmet type of place, but it’s definitely a place where it’s very warm and friendly and the food feels made with love like your mom made it for you.

The place is a semi-hidden, under the radar spot, one that you would just cruise past and not notice as you stroll down 6th. But hold up — this is one of those rare neighborhood joints, that has been there for years, and survived downtown when it was a much bleaker place. First of all, the lovely Korean couple who run this place are the best — super friendly, very welcoming, they always remember a face, and give you free fruit if you are a regular! I call them Mr. and Mrs. J, and though I don’t live on that block anymore, I still see them around downtown and they give me love. It’s a classic deli /hole in the wall — the breakfast sandwiches are just right(and cheap). My go to is the iced coffee, which has 3 espresso shots and gets me going for a long day ahead… and it’s only $ 3.50. Beat that Starbucks. You are going to want to come back, since you feel like the place is owned by a couple of your friends.

This little sandwich shop sits in the center of the block and if you’re not looking, you might pass it up. I walked in with and open mind and left with a full belly. Have the #5(chicken and pesto) combo and you won’t regret it. Add in a combination juice of orange, apple, carrot, and ginger and you will be in dinner heaven. The atmosphere is good with a tv in the dining area as well as the days newspaper sitting nearby. The absolute best thing about this place is the great customer service. They are really nice and sweet and make you want to come back again.

I think I’m falling in love with this place. Only been here twice but each time I’m overwhelmed by this warm woozy feeling that you just don’t get from anywhere else. Yep. It’s a no frills, basic spot with yummy breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, coffee, juices and all that jazz. They have phenomenal croissant sandwiches btw. What makes this spot stand out from other places? It’s the personable service and the warmest smiles! It’s run by a Korean couple and they are just the sweetest! I feel as if I’m floating by the time I’m walking out the door. I can see why JJ’s has so many regulars and I’m probably on the way to becoming one myself. We need more of these mom and pop businesses around! Also noticed they deliver with $ 10 minimum purchase! :)

In a place that reeks of dog piss and alternates between being a photo shoot back drop or a movie film set, JJ’s Sandwich Shop is my sunshine. My only sunshine. It makes me happy when sky’s are grey… and I am forced to share air with über cool(and über snotty) people in downtown LA. JJ’s is simple. No frills, no glamour, just a great little spot with great sandwiches, salads, juices and coffee. But what makes JJ’s the million dollar spot(at least for me) are the kind and gentle Korean owners that take you under their wing like a mama bird takes her chicks. Sigh. My first time here, I had the chicken sandwich with sun dried tomatoes, pesto, and avocado. Delish! Second time I had the full house which has ham, turkey, and salami… yumm-oh! It’s located across the street from Cole’s. There is plenty of indoor seating, it’s clean, they don’t rush you to eat and go and if you are lucky, the owner will stop by and sit with you and catch up on life. Expect to be treated to fresh fruit while you wait for your food(I got oranges) and they make you feel like family when you are here. I see a lot of regulars and happily, I am becoming one too. Check them out!

Went here because Coles was closed and I wanted a sandwich. So happy we looked across the street. I ordered a vegetable panini which Was very good. They toasted the bread an instead of mayo they put pesto and avocado… Amazing. My bf ordered a roast beef sandwich and demolished it and said it was amazing. Such friendly service and they gave us a slice of watermelon that was so cold to go! I will be back!!! Such sweet people who work there!

Excellent customer service. Food was good. Add $ 1.75 for soda and chips combo. Most sandwiches are between $ 7-$ 8. Went today at 1pm. No line whatsoever. Also counted at least 10 tables to sit at. I wish the sandwiches were a little bigger(at least on whole wheat). Will definitely return.
