I went here for the first time yesterday. Didnt know what to expect, but I was recommended by a friend. I called made an appointment with Jamal, heard he was really good. Checked Unilocal and found him at a different location with all great reviews. I had a little trouble finding the place because its behind another barbershop located in a small«strip mall» with other small businesses. Parking is in the back and has to be paid for via«parking pal», quarter gets u 30mins. There were a few barber standing outside from the two barber shops. One guy greeted me nicely after I got out of the car which I later found out was John. He asked was I getting a hair cut my reply was with Jamal. The other guys attempted to recruit me for the service. Lol. I continued on and John was polite enough to show me where the barber shop was. I showed up early for my appointment time, he had two people before me which I liked so I could see his work before he started on my head(bad past experiences). JAMAL and the other barber John where very welcoming and made me feel comfortable. This was important to me especially since I came from long beach and a female in an unfamiliar area. I saw the two people before me one was a male, hair cut was nice and a female that had alot of designs that looked really good on her. Jamal came out again to check on me and put a stamp of a star on my hand and told me I was next. I thought it was funny and cute. He cut my hair, I really like it. He took his time, paid attention to detail and was asking questions about how I like my hair. I also found out that he has won a major hair competition in California and cutting hair is a passion of his. I really like to hear that. My hair is important to me, I work in a professional environment. Ive been to alot of barbers in the last two year trying to find a good fit for me. I think I found him.
