Pupusas get a 5 star. The place is not fancy, and they take forever, but pupusas are the best and worth the wait.

I usually don’t write reviews but my experience differs from the only other review. I stumbled across this place at 1pm on a Tuesday. I had 2 pupusas + drink for $ 4.09 after tax. There’s plenty of meat but I was thrilled with the number choices for vegetarian pupusas: frijol, jalapeño, calabaza, loroco, nopales, papa. I might have missed one. I didn’t expect the service to be quick since there was just one woman running the grill, register, and table service, but I got my food in about 10 minutes. There were 2 other customers waiting for food at the same time. The older woman serving me spoke English just fine. They had plenty of cortido, the traditional pickled cabbage, and hot sauce available. It was quiet with only the few customers I mentioned and one television on. A pleasant afternoon lunch and an excellent choice for pupusas.

I ordered the $ 5.99 combo with platanos, a bean and cheese pupusa, and a pork tamale. Everything was cooked nicely. I really enjoyed the masa for the tamale, which was silky smooth instead of being chunky like Mexican tamale masa. What I didn’t like: They served the food in courses, one item at a time. It took me around 40 minutes to eat, which was way too long. They also didn’t offer the traditional marinated cabbage and chile that I’ve had every other Salvadoran place. The platanos did not come with crema, either. Finally, they have a juke box and a grandpa kept feeding it money and playing earsplittingly loud music. Very annoying. Tip: bring someone who speaks Spanish. There is absolutely no English spoken here.
