My go-to Salvadorean spot is Atlactl(which is down the street), but when I found out they have the same owners/cooks I started coming by here more often. Same delicious food, a little more space to sit, and its not cash only! Highly recommend!

This place is by far the best salvadorian spot I’ve been to. For being a salvadorian myself, I’ve tried many other local salvadorian restaurant’s. None of the other restaurants compare to the taste and quality that Jaragua offers, that’s why I’ve been a regular since they opened.

Amazing Salvadorian food. The pupusas are amazing and their platanos Fritos con crema and black beans taste really good! The place is casual, but it looks really nice.

AMAZINGFOOD! The wait is long but great food can take time to make. It is worth the wait. Now let me say some shit about this white couple we saw the other night here. They had gotten there before us and could not sit still. They were visibly uncomfortable with the wait time. They clearly had never been to a non-white restaurant or business. They were clearly not from around here. One of them had the god damn audacity to stand in front of the kitchen looking in and giving a nasty vibe to the cooks and wait staff… That person was pacing back and forth by the kitchen door trying to get their attention or have the staff know that she was not having it. Haaaaa… White people are CRAZY. This couple ended up not even touching their water and I think they paid for the food and just got up and stormed out of the restaurant. Hahahahaha #WatchWhitenessWork #WhitePeople

Seriously one of, if not the, best Salvadoran restaurant in town. All meals are prepared with the«homemade» seasoning and customer service is phenomenal. They have a small banquet room in the back for private parties, too.

Great food, not Salvadorian but the food was good and fresh. I only heard someone was not impressed with the shrimp cocktail but the rest, all okay! Complementary parking a plus, drinks good, casual but nice environment place. Servers are nice and polite… BUT don’t give 5 stars because we waited long time to get our food. My party are at different time because some things came out and some other ones were really, really delay. Even to have someone to get our check we had to wait. They need to improve on service speed. Definitely will come back again!

Great casual dinner in the Hollywood area. We ordered the pupusas, the turkey sandwich and a few others and everything was delicious. Make sure to put the slaw on everything! The restaurant was fairly empty on a Monday night and the kitchen took a while, but I didn’t mind waiting. Bonus points for the private parking lot in the back!

This is the closest Salvadorian restaurant to me, and actually very good! y plus they have free parking in the back(huge plus in Koreatown). I usually order the Pupusas Revueltas(pork, cheese, and beans). Taste very good and fresh, only thing is they are SUPER greasy(greasiest than any other place). I always have to pat them down before I’m able to eat them. This is an area of opportunity for them. I’ve also tried their Yucca Frita, and it’s super yummy! The décor of this restaurant is gorgeous! Probably why the food here is a little bit more pricy than other Salvadorian Restaurants/Pupuserias. Overall I recommend this place

OK, I can keep up the 4 star charade no longer. This place is one of the best spots in LA. The pupusas are still the best I’ve had. I recently tried the turkey sandwich — amazing. I literally spooned up the left over sauce, which was based on stock. It was just bursting with flavor — this is the kind of quality you can’t fake. And the prices… I have literally paid more for a diet coke at a fancy hotel than I have here for a full meal.

Unfortunately, when we got here it was pretty empty for such a big space. It was during the week in the day… maybe that’s why The food was GREAT! We had Casamiento, Platano Frito, and Yuca con Chicharron I would go back more often if I lived closer But if anyone asks of a good Salvadoran restaurant I will recommend Jaragua

I almost don’t want to review Jaragua because it’s an amazing location that I want to keep all to myself! The bartender is SUPER nice, her drinks are AMAZING, and the food was delicious as well! The service was quick and friendly. I’ve only tried the Hotel Nacionale. I don’t know what’s in it, but my friend ordered it for me, and it was soo good, I had two! I also liked their pupusas and curtido. Yum, yum! Small parking lot in the back shared with the restaurant, so you may have to find street parking.

LOVELOVELOVE the pupusas here. My favorites were the Revuelta(pork & cheese) and Ayote con queso(squash & cheese). I got the Tamarindo, which was perfectly tart and refreshing, but what I need to go back for next time is the Ensalada, which is literally a fruit salad drink in a glass — a juicy concoction of tropical fruit juice with little bits of fruit floating on top. SOGOOD! Prices are reasonable, and the ambience is nice — very cool, dark and comforting inside(although I didn’t see this until I turned around, but they also have a large screen at the far end of the room for soccer games on TV). I would like to come back and try the empanadas next time!

Located on the corner of a small street. The place seemed promising because of the crowd inside. The food was a hit or miss. Unfortunately most of what we ordered were a miss. — Pupusa’s were good but according to my friend, they’re pretty pricey. — The tamales were filling but not memorable. — The popular sandwich was sold out. — The dish with plantains and sweet milk was interesting. We enjoyed the plantains. — Horchata did not taste like Horchata. — The yellow fruity juice was pretty sweet. The ice watered it down, which helped. Service: They were nice but it took a while to get our food and our check in the end. Parking: found free street parking(make sure to read the signs)

My friends and I came here for drinks and something relatively quick to eat. My two friends ordered entrees but I wasn’t especially hungry so I ordered the Salvadorian special and some empanadas. Our drinks took around 15 minutes to arrive and they were alright. My friend ordered the Spicy Mamacita and that was great but my margarita was mediocre; nothing special. The servers weren’t very attentive nor were they welcoming. The bar looked like a pretty cool atmosphere but they pulled the curtains shut to close it off so it just felt like we were eating in a church rec room on a Saturday night. The food was also something I might find in a church rec room. Mostly grease, not super warm, nothing I couldn’t have cooked myself. Although to be fair, my Pupusas were authentic, unique and delicious – something I had never had before and I was pleasantly surprised. We got there at 6:30PM and ordered pretty immediately but our food didn’t arrive until 7:20. My friend was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to pay in time for him to get to work so he paid our other friend to cover his bill, ate his food as soon as it came and then left. When the bill arrived, my friend asked to pay his bill as well as her own. When they ran the checks, they charged me for both her meal and mine and one of his drinks. When we let them know a mistake had been made, the server said«Yeah, see we can’t change that so you should just tip more on hers.» Which didn’t make sense because it didn’t even out. They didn’t really make an effort to fix the bills. I’ve waited tables before and I know that fixing checks after you already ran them sucks. It’s doable but it sucks. I would have ignored the mistake if the amount wasn’t more than double my friend’s bill. People seem to like this place, so maybe we just had a bad first experience. But it was a bummer, none-the-less.

*They seem to have higher-priced menus if you’re a «gringo»(foreigner) and not a Latino so let the buyer beware* After reading all the pretty good reviews of this San Salvadoran restaurant, I really wanted to like this place. I mean, I did enjoy my meal but there was an incident that left me puzzled which I’ll explain in a bit. Let me start by saying, the food is pretty good. I really enjoy dining on Latin and Caribbean cuisine. They have most of the traditional fare from this country from pupusas to soups and other stew dishes that I find enjoyable to eat. Granted, it is a nicer ambiance than the typical mom and pop divey eatery you see strewn all over L.A. I guess they consider themselves more fine dining restaurant compared to a casual pupuseria. They even have a full bar at the back of the restaurant and I understand that they have a private banquet room of sorts too that you can reserve for private parties. The menu was very appealing as I tossed around the idea of either getting a pupusa to try or one of their soup dishes since it was a slightly blistery day. I ended up going with a selection under their Soup section called Sopa de Pollo. The menu said it was a chicken soup that is accompanied with chicken, rice and salad. The server waiting on me said it was a nice dish and a lot of people like it. I went with that and you have a choice of having your chicken fried or grilled so I opted for grilled. After waiting a while, she brought out a nice size bowl of soup, which was more a broth with some potatoes and carrots that were soft boiled. The broth had a mild flavor to it. She then brought out a plate with the chicken, rice and salad. She also gave me a small basket of the fresh hand made tortillas which I really like. The entire meal looked really appetizing! I asked her if she could bring me a jar of the curtido, which I saw the table next to me have which is a sliced cabbage condiment that was vinegary and had a slight spicy kick to it. You usually eat it with a pupusa but I like to add it on the tortillas that is normally served in these types of restaurants. I enjoyed my meal although I found the chicken to be a little too dry and flavorless except for a few salty sections on the outer skin(3.5÷5). The salad didn’t have any kind of dressing on it so I resorted to using the curtido which was really good(5⁄5). It helped moisten the chicken and I also utilized it as a dressing of sorts for the dressing-less salad. I used up practically the whole jar doing this, it was so good. I also tried dipping a few chicken pieces into my soup broth and tried adding a few spoonfuls of the broth onto my plate over the rice. This seemed to work well as the whole concoction of flavors was very palatable. After finishing my meal, I was given the check and noticed that I was charged $ 12.75 for the meal. Now, I recall that the menu said it was $ 11.25 and if you wanted chicken breast or white meat, it was an extra $ 1.50. I recall debating while ordering whether to even get this dish at $ 11.25 because I usually don’t like to spend more than $ 10 on a lunch especially dining solo as I just consider it filler food. I asked my server about this thinking she made a mistake and told her that I didn’t have the breast meat so it should be $ 11.25. She said that was the normal price and if I had ordered the breast meat, the total would be closer to $ 15. I was puzzled because I distinctly remember the menu reading it was $ 11.25. She was bold and asked if I wanted to see the menu but I didn’t want to make a big stink over it and I just said, no it was alright. However, on my way out, I saw they had some paper to-go menus at the front counter which I grabbed to take with me and see how much it said the dish was. Well, to my surprise, the to-go menu said the same dish was $ 9.50! It really made me wonder whether they have different menus that they give people depending on whether they think you are a gringo(foreigner) or a fellow countryman. I’m not saying they do this, but now I’m not so sure and it bothered me thinking that a place would do that and charge people more if they thought they had more money. It’s discrimination at worst and not very gracious at best. I told this story to a friend while eating at another place serving a similar cuisine and joked that I was going to keep an eye out on from now on as to where they get the menu to give to people to make sure it’s all coming from the same menu pile, haha! I’m still puzzled about this and will be investigating a little further in the near future. Stay tuned…

Hmmm Salvadorian food. Upon ordering, most of the menu is in Spanish so of course we had to google some items for clarity. Pupasas I got the Revuelta con Todo Chicharon, Queso, y Frijoles(Pork, Cheese, Beans) and the Ayote con Queso(Squash and Cheese). The pork, cheese, and beans was delicious! Couldn’t taste that much pork so I’m guessing they skimped out on the meat. The squash and cheese one was boring. No flavor. Tamales The tamales masa here is too thick. Like the pupasas, there was barley any meat inside. Horchata The horchata is definitely not your ordinary horchata. It tasted like chocolate milk with a bit of cinnamon in the end. It’s different but it’s good. Churrasco Tipico 8 oz. Rib Eye con platano, casamiento y chorizo (8 oz. Rib Eye served with plantain, casamiento, and chorizo) Pollo Encebollado (Grilled chicken sautéed with onions, tomatoes, and green peppers) Mar y Tierra (8 oz. Rib Eye and grilled shrimp) Overall, the food was alright. Nothing special.
