Decent Parmesan chicken sandwich. Not a bad price considering the other establishments in the shopping food court. Tasted good, good price, came with a ugly salad and a drink. What more do you expect?

Seems like 3-stars is the consensus on this spot, and rightfully so. The prices are a little expensive, but they’re in-line with all the other inflated prices at this food court. I got a spinach calzone w/a side of veggies and a glass of iced tea and it cost me ~$ 11. The calzone was tasty… the crust was semi-flakey and the cheese they used was very flavorful. However, because the calzone had to be reheated, the cheese got this semi-translucent rubbery texture… it still tasted good, but I know it would have been better right out of the oven. The veggies I got on the side were a medley of steamed broccoli, yellow squash, and carrots. They tasted fresh(didn’t seem like frozen veggies) and seemed like a healthier choice than the other salads.

Shopping at Century City mall is always an exhausting experience because there is a lot to accomplish. I needed food ASAP because I’d been waiting for my friend to arrive and of course, not wanting to eat too much in anticipation of lunch, I was overly starved and blood sugar low and very very cranky when we finally arrived at the mall. I immediately honed into the food court and after a few circles around, decided that I didn’t want Asian because we were having Asian in the evening. We decided upon this place — the calzone looked rather good — so we both chose one — one with pepperoni, meatballs and cheese and another with spinach and cheese. Both came with a salad and a drink for the combo. They had about 6 different choices of salad plus Caesar although that wasn’t laid out for you to see — just ask if you want that one. They will let you sample the salad before ordering as well. I thought the calzone wasn’t bad at all. It comes with a marinara sauce and the meal itself was more than enough to fill me up. I agree it was really quite expensive for what you get, especially at a food court, but the stuff tastes far better than Sbarros which is available at every mall across the state — not my first choice ever — so I’m not really complaining. They also have pizza, although the toppings aren’t gourmet, just your regular stuff, which was why I didn’t go for the pizza. Otherwise, I thought it wasn’t bad at all.

I ate here today, and I felt at first the price was asking too much for 2 slices and a drink($ 9+), but I figured this was West LA and an upscale mall(Westfield Century City), and when I saw the size of the slices(they’re pretty damn big), I backed off and actually thought it more reasonable. As others have mentioned, this is more of an upscale Sbarro’s. I don’t know if that creates some sort of processing error in your brain, but yeah. The restaurant is located inside the Century City mall food court and, as with all tenants there, they use actual ceramics and glasses in serving food to you. They also clean up after you once you finish eating(this applies to the whole food court). I had a slice of pepperoni and a slice of cheese, and I thought they were actually pretty good. They tend to put the slice you ordered back into the oven to heat up, if it has been sitting out for a while. I’m kinda weary about the whole refill system. Seeing how this is LA, I didn’t even want to ask for a refill, because my sixth sense tells me that it’ll cost money. Nothing is free on this side of town. If they offer free refills though, the place needs to make it a selling point and put a big ass poster saying so. The pizza is actually good, but I’m just disappointed with the price. As these are hard times, the prices need to come down a bit. The refills also need to be free… can’t stress this enough. Restaurants get drinks literally for free, why cheap out on passing the perk to the customer?

(2.5) this place serves standard sbarro-esque fare in a fancy food court up in the century city mall. i ordered their lasagna which wasn’t impressive. the lasagna was a bit dry and crunchy. yes, imagine that, dry and crunchy lasagna noodles with dry and crunchy ricotta cheese. strangely enough, for what it was worth, it was fine to eat. ahhh… when i’m in a food court, i don’t have any foodie standards. sadness :( the best thing about italia express was the service i received which gave it the extra half star. i asked the server to give me extra tomato sauce for my lasagna which she happily smothered. i liked the fact that she didn’t skimp on my request and was courteous to the finicky customer before me too. thanks lady, the extra sauce softened the crunchiness of the lasagna.
