Customer service is second to none. Kawai answered all my questions and was patient with me even as I was flip flopping between my selections. I look forward to doing all my business with them going forward.

As far as I can remember, my first visit to IMP was back in 2006. I use to purchase lot of sea creatures from IMP and they have provided me with the best fishes that no one could every imagine. I have met with many friendly employees fulfilled with knowledge of each fish. The only thing I didn’t felt disappointed was encountering with interacting with the accountant who doesn’t know how to do math quite well. I was disappointed with the fact with mistakes on adding the prices and giving me with the total price before taxes were added. It was constantly wrong and I didn’t have any choices but to report this problem to their general manager name, Johnny. I hated to report the bad incidents to the upper management but I couldn’t find alternative to the best solutions. I do not know if he still works at IMP but he is not good at calculation for sure. I forgot his name but his physical description is short height, balled, and looking lame, and he is an accountant. I am not offending this because I encountered many mistakes with him and I want to warn everyone that there may be a possible chance that mistakes have occurred. I have to take out one star from five stars because I had to experience an incident from the accounting department. Overall, I am a fond of this company’s fish products and I am deeply sadden I cannot buy the best sea food here because I reside in San Jose, California. I know this company has a satellite in The Bay Area but they are not open to the public. I guess this company is owned by a Japanese company from Tsukiji in Tokyo, Japan and I do recommend people who loves to get a fresh sea food from this company.

Looking for seafood? Ever wondered where the better sushi restaurants get their sushi? This is the place. Wholesale only. Get here early in the morning, like 6am, for the best selection.

Been coming here for a little over half a year for sashimi grade fish for my sushi restaurant and I will say that their customer service is second to none. I try to stop in to personally pick out the fish every once in a while and am always so amazed at how friendly and accommodating they are. Most everyone recognizes me, even though I mainly work with just one of the sales reps. They always ask me how the business is going and always give me information on other products that are currently on the upward trend. Even the delivery driver remembered my name and said hi to me after only delivering once! Regarding the fish, I go through 2 – 3 whole scottish salmon a week and have never once had a problem with any of them. They are extremely fresh and I couldn’t be happier with the quality. I have had problems with the freshness of the tuna though. I was informed that the time between shipments of tuna increases due to the high demand during chinese new year, christmas, and the japanese holiday in the fall. I have received tuna in the past that was exceptional however, so I am hoping that it returns to that quality soon. You don’t need a sellers license to buy the fish as far as I know. Market opens at 5am and I think by 9−10am they stop selling. I would go as early as possible to get your best choice for fish and avoid having to park on the paid street meters. Salmon you’ll have to buy whole, but tuna you can usually get as little as 3−4lbs. Might not be the cheapest place to get your fish, but quality and service more than make up for it. Also, don’t forget to wear proper shoes, something to cover your hair, and probably a sweater/jacket. Again, can’t stress how impressed I am with the way they run their business. I hope to continue with them for the long run.

Phone # 2138936123. As David K said now«only wholesale». Who knows you might get in if you were looking innocent and had cash… or find that friend who has the wholesale liscense.

Sashimi Grade Seafood Need: Black Sea Bass? Bluefin Tuna and Toro? Uni? Live Santa Barbara Prawns? Black Cod? Red Snapper? Clams? Kumamoto Oysters? International Marine supplies 90% of LA restaurants with sashimi grade seafood. The market opens at 6am. It is located in a very intimidating section of downtown LA. So I would advise that you know where you are going. Can you say GPS navigation? The parking lot is small. If you arrive after 7am, then you may not find parking. Here’s what you need to know: 1) Ask for a cardboard box. 2) Ask for or Grab several plastic bags 3) Start shopping! The seafood is arranged in rows of bins. You can find Black Sea Bass, Red Snapper, Oysters, and clams in these bins. Live Santa Barbara Prawns are located in the water tanks to the right. All the Tuna(Bluefin and Yellowfin) are located in the butcher room. You need to go to the room and select what piece you want. The butcher will cut your piece for you. 4) When you have purchased everything. You will go to the counter. The merchant will weigh and itemize your purchases. He will hand you this list. 5) Take the list to the cashier window 6) Pay the Japanese woman. This place accepts credit cards and cash. 7) You’ve just purchased the same seafood that every premier LA restaurant purchases. You will often see orders of Tuna Loins wrapped in green paper/film wrap marked«Nobu» or «Patina.» Tip: International Marine receives Imported fish straight from Japan on Wednesdays and Fridays.
