THEBESTTACOSINTOWN, HECKMAYBEEVENINCALIFORNIA!!! My family has enjoyed The House of Dimes for generations, way back to when the taco were 10 cent. Vergie and Roosevelt always make you feel like family with beautiful service and real conversation. The wait is never long, even when it’s busy ANDTRUSTME, ITGETSBUSY!!! Dont let the area and aesthetic fool you, if you do you’re missing out! I will never stop going to The House of Dimes and having my 3 Indian Tacos with Cheese and a Black Cherry Soda. They are even kind enough to give me a extra plate because I eat the shells and inside separate. THEBESTHANDSDOWN. SOGOODMAKEYOUWANTTOSLAPYOURMAMA!!!

Just ate the turkey tacos. Not impressed. If you’re a turkey taco lover try something else. Love The fact that it’s a good spot that’s been opened for so long though. The Indian taco must be hit for this place as it seems.

House of Dimes is definitely a hidden gem in South Los Angeles. My cousin took me here just a few minutes back and I fell in love with their tacos! So much flavor and juiciness. This palace may look like a dump from the outside and close at all the times, but it’s definitely a worthy hidden spot

A small place but definitely with the trip. Both the Indian and the Chilli taco are delicious. A place I will not hesitate to return to in the future

I’m a vegetarian, but I still love my Mexican food, so I am on the hunt for my favorite place in LA. I have visited over a dozen places by now and this one remains my favorite. It’s best for takeout as the actual place is TINY, but the chef was nice and the tacos were delicious. I wish it wasn’t so far from where I got my apartment, I’d love to go back. It’s only not 5 stars because I rarely give those out, and it’d be nice if the place had a bit more seating. If only it was open every day of the week!

Indian Tacos(ground beef) are a MUST! Extremely limited seating, and only parking to speak of is at Church’s. Excellent tacos, slightly spicy.

Only in the hood you’ll find rare place that are 5 star quality. This one place I would like to go into the hood and get hood only in Southside L.A.

What can I say? My mom took me there as a child and now i bring my kid here(and my hubby!) I love their beef tacos. Mom and Son operation… very sweet and clean. Smokey as hell though inside, so get food to go. Call ahead and save time too. Hope they stay around for at least another generation!

Best hood tacos! Sauce on the side for lightweights & grandma serving tacos is absolutely adorable.

I have been eating these tacos since the 1950s and still crave them to this day. Tacos don’t get no better than this!

Love this place. Had chili and beans here 8−24−13. Delicious. Nice people. Very clean. This is NOT a Mexican restaurant, though. It is traditional American. THEREIS a private on site parking lot for the House of Dimes right behind it. A small dirt lot next to the open alley, next to Church’s.

Love House of Dimes and have been going since I was little. Family owned and very homestyle cooking. They are only open 3 days a week, Thurs-Sat. I ALWAYS get the Indian(beef) tacos, medium sauce. Hole in the wall and all, i love em.

Pros — I had the chili burger and it was delicious — still thinking about it and I usually don’t like chili on my burger or hot dog! Heard chili dog was also good. The folks who run the place are nice — family business that has been around for quite a while. Great LA gem that is too easy to miss. Con — It took a little while for them to make the food so if you are doing take out, I suggest calling ahead No fries Facts — Small restaurant — only seating is about 8 counter seats. Limited hours — Thursday(11 – 7), Friday(11 – 8), Saturday(11 – 8).

Decided to try this place after reading the other 4⁄5 star reviews. Ordered the«Indian» Tacos as suggested as well. Worst Tacos I have ever eaten. That says it all. LA has too many good hole-in-the-wall mexican places to even consider this to be ‘ok-food’. The beef was bland, and the sauce they use is gobs of tabasco. You can probably make these tacos at home, recipe: boil ground beef, add lettuce and half a bottle of tabasco sauce. I love mexican food, authentic or not, and trust me, this is neither. Stay Away. Kitchen was separated by brown boxes(wall was never finished?). Cash only, street parking.

This is an authentic hole in the wall specialty. The food and service is awesome. The tacos are some of the best in LA. The whole menu is delicious.

This is a must try! As I was eating the tacos I mentally went to a happy place. Honestly, they taste like something your grandma, mother, or aunt made for you when you were a kid. Everything is made fresh to order. They grill the tortilla to give it a somewhat hardshell/softshell feel. I ordered 3 turkey tacos. They will ask if you want them medium or hot. I had no idea what was meant by that, so I opted for for medium. Upon tasting, I realized its the sauce they put on the taco. Medium isnt spicy at all. Next time I will opt for hot. Taoos $ 2.50. The building is tiny. And there really isnt a sign out front. It looks more like a small shack. The counter can get crowded quickly. Only about 6 seats. So if you live close by, I recommend you order to-go. Its a cash only place; they still use an old-school cash register. Open — Thursday(11 – 7), Friday(11 – 8), Saturday(11 – 8). Menu: taco’s(beef, turkey, chili, veggie), chili(w/beans or without), hot dogs, hamburgers, and turkey burgers. Canned soda or bottled water. No french fries or sides.
