DONOTGOHERE! I feel horrible about writing a negative review but my boyfriend got food poisoning after eating their Cheesecake Cupcake. I was so excited to try this place out, I ordered about $ 20 worth of cupcakes. My boyfriend got their cheesecake cupcake & ate it right now. Few hours later he felt horrible, we came here on Sunday & he’s still recovering(now Tuesday). I had not eaten my cupcakes & ended up throwing them away(waste of $ 20) After reading all of the reviews & hearing how stuff is not dated, I would not recommend anyone to come here.

I love that this place is local, and it is good, but at $ 3.50 per cupcake, their prices have climbed too high. I ordered 2 doz cupcakes and it came to $ 84. That’s crazy, I canceled.

The tarts are delicious. The cupcakes are okay. I used to go come here every so often. Today, I came back after some months, and everything is much more expensive. One small tart was $ 7(it used to be $ 4). I don’t think I will come back. I love dessert, but I am not willing to pay that much.

Pricey but special– I finally got to try to mango cupcake war winner! My friend was visiting from Russia so I stopped by to get him a muffin and a six pack of minis. The young woman who packed for me was lovely. I recommend just looking for a bit– so don’t be in a rush because it’s a small place and they can be super busy or slow… Eat with your eyes first

I have always been a fan of hot cakes, for years actually! I’ve had birthday cakes picked up here once in a while but they recently raised their prices. That I think to me was the deal breaker. That, and the fact that a previous employee explained that the food is not always fresh or even dated! That’s disgusting. Hot cakes lost a loyal customer :/

Every year we receive a beautiful holiday assortment at our work from one of our clients. This year it topped them all! Thank you Hot Cakes for your superb customer service and for the absolutely scrumptious goodies you make!

I am a frequent Hotcakes customer. I order all our birthday cakes from them and am always picking up cupcakes to bring to parties, celebrations, etc. You used to be able to get a 6″ cake for $ 35. I ordered one for my husband in September and less than two months later the price jumped to $ 40. To put this in perspective, you can go to Susie Cakes and get a 6″ cake for $ 36 or to La Monarca and get an 8″ cake for $ 30. You might be wondering why I am complaining over $ 5…well I wouldn’t say Hotcakes has the prettiest or cleanest cakes. For my husband’s cake they messed up his name and for my cake it was totally lumpy on one side. I never let it bother me because I felt like for the price, it was a good deal and I knew the cake would be yummy. Now I am annoyed that they decided to price themselves out and not improve the quality of their cakes. The shop isn’t nearly as welcoming or pretty as Susie Cakes and they don’t offer samples like Susie Cakes or La Monarca that will let you sample all their cakes. I needed to order a cake for my birthday dinner this coming weekend and decided to go with La Monarca instead of Hotcakes.

Their customer service skills have completely gone down. We have been ordering from them for about 2 years and about once a month we spend $ 100 or more, I am seriously considering looking into other options. Not only does your product need to be good but your customer service skills need to be even better.

NONEOFTHEFOODISFRESH: I worked at Hotcakes for 6 months and it was one of the worst working experiences EVER. The owner Elfie was the most condescending, belittling, rude person I’ve ever worked for. She advertised on a job website that the starting wage would be $ 11−13/hour but started me out at $ 9/hour with no discussion of my wage. Employees QUIT left and right because of poor treatment, training, and because she didnt want to pay us what we were worth. Honestly the lowest employee retention rate of any non-franchise food business I’ve ever worked for. *FOODFORTHOUGHT* The cupcakes are stored for dayssss on baking racks, and then frosted whenever they run out of something. The macaroons are FROZEN yes FROZEN and then brought to the display case to thaw out. The ready to buy cakes are only made fresh once a week. Oh and by the way NOTHINGISDATED! So if they make something on monday and it doesnt sell, it likely will sit there for 3 mondays or until it starts to mold. So if you want NEVER fresh ALWAYS frozen pastries you know where to go :) Oh and if you’ve emailed them regarding a mistake they’ve made, they are in fact deliberately ignoring you, and dont care if you return to do business with them.

$ 6.50 for a cupcake(see pic). $ 20 for a dozen minis; regular $ 25, but Monday has a special. Small storefront. No lobby area, but clean(as you can see straight through to kitchen). Incompetent but nice front staff. Delicious little cake!

As soon as I walked, they greeted me and apologized for having one costumer ahead of me. Haha I asked for the famous Tres Leches. Although they didn’t have it, they gave me other delicious options. Great service and amazingly delicious pastries.

I have been a LOYAL customer for years. I have ordered cakes and numerous cupcakes. I ordered a baby shower cake. I emailed designs, flavors, the size and date of pick up. I went in person paid my deposit and paid a tip as well for their fabulous assistance in developing this dr. Suess baby shower cake. They mention«no problem«we can help you out. I ordered a ½ sheet cake, marble with fresh strawberry filling and the other half of the cake strawberry with strawberry cream cheese frosting. As we were cutting the cake, no marble cake and fresh strawberry filling. Oh yeah the fresh strawberry filling was extra. I emailed them the picture and a polite explanation of the mix up. Oh by the way, when I picked the cake up the counter girl clarified to me «half marble and half strawberry« Hotcake bakes, never responded back to my email. I don’t think they care, because they scored $ 245 bucks and did a crap job. Who loses out … The LOYAL customer.

I ordered 2 dozen mini cakes today for office meeting. 4 flavor red velvet, cream cheese, strawberry and tree leeches — all 4 flavors were a hit. Super moist and tasty. Will be ordering often :)

This place has a great variety of cupcakes and cakes to chose from. The cupcakes aren’t labeled in the case, so you end up doing a lot of pointing and asking if it’s «such and such» cupcake. The cupcakes themselves are ok. I found the cake too dense, but the frosting was nice. The reason this get 4 stars is for the hazelnut donut-y pastry that we picked. The Hazelnut crème had just the right amount of crème and the pastry was light. The fruit tart was also very good. Pretty good place for desserts, although wouldn’t be my go to place for cupcakes.

Super fail for Hotcakes. Yeeeeee for my thighs!(I can only handle one dessert place in my life, and I’m lookin’ right at ya’, Miss Susie Cakes.) Was across the way at Arco and the smell of fresh baked goods was too much. After filling up I went across the street to grab a croissant and coffee. There was only one girl working, though there should’ve been two. Especially on Mother’s Day. I was waiting forever as the woman in front of me kept adding to her order. The employee who helped me was very nice, but I noticed she was using the same plastic glove to touch the desserts and then never taking it off to touch the credit card and the machine. So of course I asked her to wash her hands before she started my order. Croissant was good, actually, but the espresso machine was broken so I had to pay $ 3 for a cold double shot. There are bigger problems in the world, I realize, but after she went to help another woman behind me – and then touched her money — she went back to making my second double shot(‘cuz the first one was cold, you see) and proceeded to finger my cup and the machine all over again. I’m like, «Hey, ima need a clean cup, darlin’.» Which, again, she was fine with. I didn’t get a bitchy look or anything like that. It was the fact that she’d, obviously, never been taught how to ring customers up without getting everything else dirty. So get this: The whole time, while I’m waiting for the hand washing, the second cup of java, the other customer’s order… another girl in the back was transferring icing from the bowl to the garbage can… to the cupcakes… to the garbage… to the bowl… with the same spatula. Mmmm, the other Unilocal reviews for this place say the cupcakes are dry. Well, that’s not all they are! Then, the owner/manager walks in, slams her huge hunk of car/house/building/post-office-box keys on one of the food tables and proceeds to start yelling at the dirty-icing girl for something(unfortunately, not for sticking a spatula in the garbage can and then back to the food). So all in all it was a pretty miserable visit. #IKindaWantMyTipBack

Im starting to get PISSEDOFF. I have had 2 experiences with this establishment. My 1st experience was really good! I ordered a simple pretty pink round cake with floral frosting décor for my cousin’s 25th bday dinner. She loved the cake and it looked great. THEREFORE, when it came to my Best Friend’s 25th bday dinner last weekend, i knew exactly where I would order her cake from. Now, for my 2nd and LASTEXPERIENCE — I called and sent an email with photos on Monday, January 12 to check with them to see if the design of the cake was possible to accomplish by Saturday Jan. 17. Although, this may be considered a last minute order, I specifically called and emailed to double check to see if they could do it. They called me back and said«yes, we can have it ready for Saturday, we will just have to use print design for some of the decal.» I respond, «sounds good, but will it have the same quality and look just as nice?» The employee responds, «Absolutely.» In my head I’m thinking, «GREAT.» So, I confirm the order with cake size, flavor, number detail, name and pick up time.(Which all the information is in the email as well — listed and in BOLD font) Marble Cake with Fresh Strawberries and Whip Cream with Vanilla frosting. I had my cousin go and pick up the cake on Saturday, January 17. First, the design was sloppy and looked like a last minute cake. If it wasn’t going to be executed correctly — then they could have told me and I would have purchased a different, more simple design. However, that was not even going to be my complaint. I was gong to overlook it because it still had the idea come across. it was a small round cake with Louis Vuitton Damier print around with a zipper to look like a handbag with a LV keychain and Gold Sparkly«25» fondant numbers on top. Fast forward — We sing happy birthday at her Surprise Bday Dinner at PF Changs and as she cuts the cake — I do not see any strawberries! They made a Marble Cake with Bananas!!! While I understand that is a signature flavor for them — I SPECIFICALLYASKEDFORFRESHSTRAWBERRIESBECAUSEMYBESTFRIENDISALLERGICTOBANANAS!!! So, she was not able to even eat her own birthday cake at her dinner. I call back that night because they were still open — the employee on the phone(who took my order) recognized the mistake but said she is unable to handle the matter, but to email the owner Elsie and explain the situation. But she did not fail to mention that they do not give 100% Refunds. However, I stated that something needs to be done because it ruined my friend’s birthday. WHODOESNTWANTTOEATTHEIRBIRTHDAYCAKEONTHEIRBIRTHDAY? I have emailed and called the shop several times and have asked to speak with Elsie and I have directly emailed her and no response. I paid A$ 150 for this cake and it was the wrong flavor! SOMETHINGNEEDSTOBEDONENOW. I WILLNEVERORDERFROMHEREAGAIN. MOSTLYBECAUSETHECUSTOMERSERVICESUCKS. Fluffy cake with a smooth, slightly sweet icing. Delicious! We were in the area for dinner and decided to drop by for dessert. There is some counter seating. The bakery offers cupcakes, cakes, brownies, cookies, cream puffs, macarons, tarts, and so much more. Employees are friendly and quick. I appreciate that they offer mini cupcakes. You can try more flavors that way. The Tres Leches Spicy Mango(Winner of Food Network Cupcake Wars) was my favorite. Flavorful cake, not too sweet, and smooth. Lovely treats indeed.
