Oh, how I miss Horizon Hobbies & Toys! Horizon Hobbies & Toys was not only an importer & distributor of Japanese models & toys, but they also designed & manufactured licensed vinyl & resin kits.
The list of licenses Horizon held included Marvel, DC, Universal Monsters, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Speed Racer, Jurrasic Park, & Robo Cop. A most impressive lineup indeed!
In addition to cranking out & distributing kits, they also ran Pony Toy go Round, which had two Los Angeles locations. One was a self-​standing shop, the other as a sub-​rented spot inside a Japanese department store in Little Tokyo.
Both Horizon Hobbies & Toys & Pony Toy go Round abruptly closed up & disappeared, w/​little to no information available as to what caused both entities’ demise. A non-​related Horizon Hobby, Inc. has surfaced w/​the Horizon name. The new Horizon Hobby, Inc. sells & manufactures mostly radio-​controlled cars & planes, & has both a brick & mortar & website concerns.
