Solid pizza place. We ordered a vegetarian pie(Angeleno) to go. It’s unique in every way, great change of pace from traditional pizza. Amazing think pie like crust, tons of cheese and amazing sauce. $ 28 is a bit much for a pizza but well worth it. Will likely order from here 2 – 3 times a year, purely for the experience.

Small place and parking might be difficult week days. They are only open for dinner. Earliest is 3pm on Sunday. I came here with a friend and ordered two pizza. They are big and look amazing. The service was good. The guy that took my order was very friendly. The guy that gave me my pizza just said: «Mario?» And gave me my pizza. The pizza is really good. I liked the crust and the sauce was really good. I don’t live that close but I’ll come back again.

Ohhhhhh $hit, I guess all you whiny little bitches who complained about this pizza place are idiots, because anybody who’s eaten ANY pizza at ANY point using his/her own mouth, must already be realizing that no grater deep crust pizza even EXISTS outside of Chicago propper. In simplistic terms, because if your reading this I feel it’s safe to assume you aren’t a dumbass and can read, then it’s BEYONDBEYONDBEYONGCHICAGOSTYLEDEEPDISHPIZZABAKE!!! It’s straight up, from the chest, absolutely brain BLOWING delishiness(and freshness) with pizza deep crust anywhere around. If you don’t believe me than your probably not good for the environment and should try hang gliding through a hurricane without no gps. MORON!!! Hahahah jkjkhk — but seriously. Nobody gives a $hit about your loser opinion if you don’t like this place, so go head and cram it up your rump!!! Trust me, I know what I’m taking about… Lets first start with the establishment itself. First off, this place is not some bullshit eatery with flags and whistles like a dump ass Chuckle Cheese or whatever. There’s no video games, claw machines, slide shoots, rodent infested ball pits, or poorly drawn cartoon monsters to help fool your stupid kid into having a «good time». There’s no cheaply manufractured shirts or caps with idiotic logos on em. Theirs also no bathrooms in this place. And before you start your bitching just be aware that this was a choice the owner made to not take anybody’s shit. So take a dump before uou leave the house or bring a daiper or bucket. There’s no AC. Paper menus. Or ample seating.(YESTHEYHAVESOMESEATING) both inside AND outside, so you can eat anfresco in evening times. There’s also no waiters, no beer, no wine or any other unneeded amnesties. So bring a flask or get shitty before you arrive and leave the low IQ, cry baby bullshit at the curbside, or better yet, take your shit to go!!! What they DO have plenty of is peeeeeeeeeeza. Thick, delisious, peeeeeeeeeeeza. Chicago style deep dish pizza to be precise. It’s like a depth charge to the cheesy pleasure areas of your brain mater!!! The menu has explosive offerings that offer meats, and other toppoingsc even if you want vegetables on your pizza they offer that crap also. But I got the Capone pizza, native style. And no, that doesn’t mean they cook the pizza naked ass out, you dirty fuker!!! It means it has crushed tomatoes and olive oil and herbal gradients.(And meatballs and sausages) MADGOOD!!! A must SUCK!!! Nextly, they have a water cooler to keep your thirst knocked out, and free cups to go with it! Hydation is important because pizza meat content has a thousand sodium count per ounce, so drink up or you’ll wind up DEAD!!! GODDAM! Even the sizing of the pizza shit is perfect! And for $ 27 I bet you can feed MANY hugely hungry mouths on this one Capone alone! Satisfaction GUANTANTEED!!! So just know, this place is a no nonsense, free-for-all-zone that has the best chicago pizza around. I don’t know what else to try and say to you dumbasses except that it’s nice to finelly see a restaurant without so many fake, dogshitty gimmicks to trick the customers into staying longer they should and ignore their families. It’s only about the pizza and nothing else at this gem of a hole in the wall on Pico Drive! So please go there today for the best experience of your life for Chiacho pizza!!! You’ll be sorry if you don’t!!! Sooner than you realize. Peace and Love, JMDW

Their sauce is amazing, the deep dish crust is second to none(and I’ve eaten deep dish IN Chicago) it’s crispy and buttery and perfectly cooked. While the pies are amazing, I am writing this review after having had a pie delivered(NOT with Hollywood Pies, he was from a secondary delivery company that Hollywood Pies uses when you live too far out of their delivery area) that the driver had apparently carried sideways or braked really hard so that the sauce topping slid halfway across the pie, onto the top of the box, over the side of the crust and soaked the bottom of the box… well… I FB messaged Hollywood Pies about it almost immediately and the guy that answered(Andy) promptly offered his phone number to call him so that he could 1) give me a free pizza of any kind to make up for it and 2) determine which driver did the delivery so that they’d never use him again. I was SUPER impressed with the speed of response and the concern shown for my satisfaction. This place does not accept sub-standard on any level and they have won my admiration as a satisfied customer. Thanks Hollywood Pies, you’re a class act and your pizza is AMAZING!!!

For a deep dish pizza place that has no roots from Chicago, it was pretty good! I think they can work on their crust, since it tends to get really soggy pretty fast. The pizza also carries a lot of water in it. But, the overall deep dish is satisfying. I am always missing my deep dish pizza from Chicago and this is a great substitute. They charge a bit on the high side for the size, but I guess I can live with that.

Really enjoyed trying this place for the first time, they are know for their Chicago style deep dish pizza. Having never been to Chi-town, I can’t say much to compare, BUT the pizzas are delicious and sure to get you full as they are layered with cheese, meat and tomato sauce. For our order, we had the Capone which is just your classic Supreme pizza with all your favorite meats: Mozzarella cheese, sausage, meatballs, and pepperoni! I would say the small was enough for two people and I was so full after just one slice. I can’t say I will be back anytime soon, but I would definitely recommend this place to anyone craving deep dish :)

Best was to describe my feelings about this pizza is I was full but not satisfied! The flavors were ok but nothing mind blowing that I need to run home and tell my family about. It’s an ok tasting pizza but I’ve had cheaper deep dish that taste alot better I have it 3 starts because you can order ahead which is a nice perk. I would hate to sit and wait and get that pizza it would probably make me sad about eating it. Also the large size is more like a medium size pizza!!! There also isn’t a bathroom so go before you leave you house!

Classic Chicago was not as good as I thought. While I was eating it, the bread tasted really raw. When I looked at it, it was really soggy. The sauce was decent with the homemade ricotta. It was very thick which made it look really delicious but I was bum while I was eating it. The crust was crunchy and good. Maybe this pizza needed to be cooked a little more. The description also said it had sausage but I did not see or taste the sausage. It was mostly sauce and cheese, next time IF I decide to try it again, I might get a pepperoni. Bad first time.

I’ve ordered from here a few times and wish I’d only ordered from there. I wanted to turn a friend onto this place. She tried calling twice, but was hung up on by a clearly unhinged woman. We decided to drive there to check it out. We order and the unfriendly and weird guy rings us up for 2 pizzas for $ 58.00 and change. I’m like«Wait a minute. Why is is 2 pizzas’s 60 bucks. No apology and he re rings it. Then I asked about the woman earlier. His response«She walked out in a fit earlier». Again, no apology. The lack of brains or humanity reminded me of trying to have a conversation with a cat. He then tells us it’s going to be 50 minutes. Screw it. We take a walk and come back. When we return, I notice all the tables are littered with food and crumbs. I politely ask for a wipe. Barely looking up, the same nincompoop says«ok when I’m done doing what I’m doing». 10 more minutes later, I wave to a guy in back to please send someone to wipe down the table. First guy comes and does it. As he’s wiping up he looks at me and says«I feel like I’m waking up from death». Not sure what I’m supposed to do with that information, but thinking perhaps some lives just don’t work out, and maybe he should be euthanized or at least neutered, so no more of him can be made. Seriously. Pull it together. If the owner is reading this, fire your front of house and get someone with a brain larger than a hazelnut who has worked in the service industry before. Also, the place looks like crap.

We had a tough time finding really good Chicago style pizza in Los Angeles. Well we finally found a great place near our home. We ordered the Gable pie. It’s got mushrooms, pepperoni and olives. It was incredible. The crust was perfect, pizza wasn’t greasy at all and didn’t fall apart like some deep dish pizzas. The only recommendation that I would make is that they need an additional person to take phone orders because we got vmail twice before we finally got through. Regardless, it was worth the wait. I highly recommend this place. It doesn’t have a broad menu selection but what they do offer is excellent. Better to stick to what you know and make what you offer superb than to try and offer too diverse a menu selection and make mediocre cuisine. Great job Hollywood Pies!!! We will be back!!!

The food was excellent but the reason I am giving it a 3 is because I don’t think I have ever met a more rude and un-accommodating staff. When asking s question, they gave me one word answers to everything and even rolled their eyes at various paying customers($ 30 pizzas). I told her I had been calling for the last hour and nobody has picked up and her response was, «Well, we have only been open for 50 minutes.» Totally passive aggressive. I then waited about an hour for my food, which she put up on the counter and never told me it was mine so it was not as hot as it should have been. Very rarely would I not go back to a place because of how awful the employees are but this might take the cake… or the pie in this case.

YUM! I didn’t realize how much I missed Chicago style pizza till we got this to go one night. Don’t eat here. It is very hole in the wall and lacks much ambiance. It’s much better just to pick it up and eat it in the comfort of your own home. The small is pretty small and can satisfy 2 people. If there are any more than that, get multiple pizzas or get a large. We got the Cheese with spinach as a topping at it was sooooo good. I love their pizza sauce. it is the right amount of flavor and tang and tomato. The crust and fillings are great too. It tastes authentic, and the only other socal pizza that comes close is Regents in San Diego which I love. Our small cheese with one topping was about 20 bucks. I don’t believe they do delivery, but I remember seeing a sign about Jolt possibly delivering when we were there… not sure. Parking was on the street and metered. Will definitely go here again next time we get a hankering for deep dish.

Oh Hell NO! This place sucks, and is super shady! I wish I woulda checked the reviews before going to this dump. We stopped in here and got a really overpriced pizza to go. We ordered the Classic Chicago. It was slathered with ricotta, but had almost zero sausage. I mean, seriously. As we were eating this tiny pie, the toppings slid off because it so heavy on sauce and ricotta to reveal RAW dough! I couldn’t believe it! I put it in the microwave to try to cook it since we were starving; but it didn’t work very well. So, I called and talked to the«manager» Bryan. I told him that the dough was raw – white and rubbery and uncooked. His answer was that some people like them that way — (wha??) Who? He also said that it was intentional since some people complain that they overcook the pies. Could my ears be deceiving me? Who would ask for raw dough on their pizza? Because he said that that’s the way it was meant to be he wasn’t going to do anything about us not eating the pizza or refunding my money. He would only offer me 25% off my next order. Yeah, right, like I would ever give you another cent! Then, I start looking through the reviews to see that they apparently either burn the pizzas or don’t cook them enough. No properly cooked pizza – raw or burnt. So that’s why you said it was intentional… you guys don’t know how to cook pizza. I also found that they have had numberous reviews removed as fake to drive up their star ratings; and people are saying«how could you say I’m not a customer?» I’m attaching my receipt to their photos so you can see that I am in fact a victim of their crappy raw pizza. Save yourself and don’t step foot in this hole!

The only reason I am giving two stars is because they have a great product! Originally from the Midwest, good Chicago Style pizza is hard to find(especially in LA). The original Owners’ of Hollywood Pies were decent, but when they sold… it went from decent to DISAPPOINTING! And we’ve tried it quite a few times… not cooked through, forgot ingredients in the confirmed order, not ready when told to pick up, but yet we continue to go back. Unfortunately, today was the last time. Here is the list since the new Owners took over: 1. No delivery 2. Rude Customer Service 3. Never answer their phone, and message states to text your order in. If no return text, no pizza is being made(that is fair). 4. Text order in, receive a confirmation text with the time it will be ready… go to pick up pizza and rudely informed they don’t have the order even though the return text states to pick up the order in 50 minutes. 5. No apology or discount — «what do you want and it’ll be 45 minutes.» Nice! 6. The best sign I have ever seen on the door — Unilocal not spoken here!!! Sadly, I say goodbye to Hollywood Pies and will have to visit Chicago more frequently. Update: Placed the order today at 4:25pm via text. Received confirmation Pizza will be ready in 50 minutes. Go to pick up the pizza at 5:15pm, no order received and it will be 45 minutes to place your order now(referenced up in review). No thanks. At 8:27pm I receive calls from a number I do not recognize, 3 more calls to follow from the same number. Third time a voicemail — this is Hollywood Pies we actually close at 8:30pm on Sunday, are you coming to get your pizza. Call us back. I call them back explain what ha happen and we will not be picking up our pizza at 9pm. The young women on the phone said, Huh, ok. Bye. Wow! Customer service at it’s finest!

Went here last night and haven’t been in a while. They have added gourmet style salads to the menu as well as Tiramisu! I lived in Italy for a bit and it was as authentic as it comes… and I had my doubts. As for the pizza, it is still the best Chicago style pizza in California… and Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. I am a native Chicagoan and need my fix every now and then. We drive up from San Diego when the waves and weather are bad for our fix and we have never been disappointed! Make sure to order one to freeze for later. The pizza is always better after it «ages» in the fridge for a day.

Review for take-out only: Not cheap, pizzas take a while(as a deep dish does), and while small looking, pizzas are quite heavy and filling. Crust is more of a heavy and plain setup compared to the real thing in Chicago, filings and sauce are quite decent. The real killer– which was at least partially our fault for not checking– was that they messed up our order. One of our pizzas was the wrong one, DOH.

Omg they are the best! No one else makes Chicago style deep dish pizza like these guys do. Masa is another good spot, however it has a softer crust, less cornmeal, than Hollywood Pies. Get the cheese native, it takes pizza to the next level!

Love deep dish pizza & this was the first real one I’ve found. Small is good enough for 1 – 2, pretty filling. It’s deep dish so it takes alittle longer to cook. –Its a total casual, pizzeria setting. I got it to go. –Street parking.

Fun fact kids. This place closes AT9 on Sundays. I called and placed an order at 8 tonight. The employee who took my order informed me that the wait for takeout orders was 35 minutes, before taking my order and getting my name and number. My boyfriend and I get stuck in street traffic and get there at 9:05pm and THEYREALLGONE. The restaurant is dark. No one called me to ask if I was still coming for my food, they just closed up and went home. Next time I’ll drive to Echo Park for Masa

Boyfriend and I placed an order for a small spinach deep dish pizza native style. The native style(crushed tomatoes and oregano) was two dollars extra. Like all deep dish pizza orders we waited 45 minutes to pick up our order. When we went home and opened the box we were so disappointed. The deep dish pizza was TINY. Second, the pizza was burnt. The crust was ridiculously burnt and rock hard. Third, the deep dish wasn’t even deep. It looked like a regular pizza with an abnormally high crust. Fourth, the pizza seemed very dry. I don’t know how to describe it but it seemed like it was missing something… This by far has to be THEWORST deep dish pizza we have ever ordered. Definitely will not be returning.

Not since Chicago have I eaten a pie this good(except maybe Lemon Meringue, but that’s a different pie altogether). The crust had that corny exterior that only Chicago pizza seems to have. The sauce was incredibly thick, complex, and flavorful. I tried the Sausage ala Zweig(Italian sausage) and the Capone(meatballs, pepperoni and sausage). Both were equally delicious and I honestly couldn’t decide between the two. Here’s what not to do: Don’t eat in. The interior is super sad and not very appetizing. Don’t order when you get there. It takes like 45 minutes to have the pizza made, so sitting around for 45 minutes in the sad shack would not help with your experience. Don’t expect smiles and friendly service. They weren’t mean, per se, but they were definitely no-nonsense. This isn’t a TGI-Friday.

Been wanting to try this place for ages. Overrated in my opinion, tried the spinach with several different cheeses with mushrooms added on for $ 2. A large pizza comes with 8 slices for $ 25, small size with 4 slices are $ 15. All are baked deep dish style which means, a slice would probably fill you up already. I was only able to eat one slice. It kinda reminds me of a calzone, crust wasn’t all that great, atleast not to my standards. Place has limited seating, probably best for take outs. Street parking. I would recommend to order the pizza pie ahead of time, since it takes a while to bake them. Overall, probably won’t come back here, way too overpriced for the taste.

I’ve only had their deep dish and they’re AMAZING! I think about it all the time! I go with the Capone mostly but the original is great too. Super fresh and filing. It’ll put a smile on your face. Call ahead because a pie can leave you waiting 35−60+ min. Casual dine in or pick one up for a Netflix sesh!

Awesome! I’m not much for eating pizza this hearty but my boyfriend missed a good deep dish which this place satisfied. It’s a little pricey and definitely can feel like forever if you walk in and place an order for dine in. We didn’t really know any better so folks, call in ahead of time and save yourself 40mins. The place itself is actually not much of a restaurant. Interestingly enough, their one specialty being the main draw and it really it all that everyone’s been saying it is. Try it for yourself, and take a pizza home!

Last 2 orders have been an epic fail and last night was the icing on the cake for us. Ordered the large cheese, olive oil tomato sauce & lots of cheese. We «always request do NOT cut» and with the last 2 orders the pizza was cut. What you don’t understand is when they deliver these pizza’s ½ the ingredients wind up sliding off the pizza into the box and you’ve lost those ingredients. Plus the pizza is cold when you cut it, we don’t always eat the whole pie and like to save for late week nights. Not sure if we will be ordering from them again… buying from the true pie Chicago via express maybe the route we’ll go back to!

I finally got a chance to try their pizza, I have been here thrice, first time at Halloween, they were closed, then one time during lunch, they are not open for lunch, they open at 5pm to about 9pm… And then one time with my friend who did not want to wait 45 minutes for the food… Yes, this place is mostly for take out, there is only a few tables inside and one table outside, it pretty bare inside too… I had the Gables in size small with a side of spinach. This is a Deep Dish Pizza, and one slice filled me up, it was loaded with cheese, olives, mushrooms, tomato sauce and veggies… it was very deliscious and filling… The crust is thick and crunchy… very tasty my friends, I highly recommend! Best to call and order ahead since it typically takes about 45 minutes to make…

I had«The Gable”-Olives, pepperoni, mushrooms & i added Bell Peppers. I gave this three stars because I’ve never had deep dish pizza before, otherwise it would have been lower. Extremely acidic sauce & so much of it, you taste little else. Cheese is on the bottom, so dunno what it tasted like. Plus, its a bit of a chore to eat, unless you use utensils. A bit to «girly» of an approach to pizza consumption, 4 me. I’ll sum this«pizza» up in 2 words, «just wrong». I wouldn’t even call it pizza it’s like a lasagna with no pasta in it, a mouth full of acrid sauce. Ciccero’s taste much better &2 pies for $ 16. Damn, they got me… Hot cashier, friendly service & Nice pizza reputation. How? Beats me. Deep dish, just ain’t the move…

We picked up 2 small pizzas from here tonight, a Capone and a spinach pie. I can easily finish a large regular pizza but I still have one piece of pizza left from my small(although within the hour it will be gone!). My favorite pizza in LA has been all the way on Echo park and now I don’t have to go there to get delicious deep dish pizza! I can stay on the west side… I am soooo happy(but my pants and scale are crying). Since coming from the Midwest I rarely find good pizza, well I have found some tonight! The sauce is tangy without being sour and is flavored perfect! The sausage is freaking delicious! The cheese is gooey and plentiful! The crust was amazing and cooked perfectly! Even the spinach pizza(which was not my choice) was delicious with lots of ricotta! Right now I am a happy fat boy enjoying an after pizza beer and a case of itis, laid back on the couch, thinking about that last piece I have waiting for me…

This review is about the ordering experience. Simply put, I never got through to order a pizza. That is a giant fail in my book. Chicago deep dish normally takes an hour to make. Based on previous recent reviews I read, customers noted that calling the restaurant to place an order was an tumultuous task: either the phone was not answered right away or the restaurant would stop taking orders after a certain amount of pies were ordered. Well, I called the phone number listed. I got an answering service. I did not leave a message; as there is no telling when they would check it. Next, I texted the number listed. I stated my name, order, and phone number. In my note I requested that if they did not respond to me within 30 minutes that my order was placed, that I would presume that my order did not go through. No response. Needless to say, this is very discouraging. Patrons who have actually had the pies were encouraging, but if they can’t take accommodate phone orders, then that does not speak well to this restaurants organization and ability to manage orders.

Good Golly Miss Molly. It’s tasty. No lie. I got the spinach one. The place is clean and quaint with nice rock n roll playing in the background. Did I say the sauce is flavorful. The crust is different but great. Takes a while because they are actually making it. It’s worth the wait so just don’t come when your in a rush so you can enjoy the experience.
