Sad they’re gone, they were a nice go-to spot to shoot pool and have some decent nibbles and a drink. Prices were very fair for this kind of space, and they were very good about working with groups for big gatherings. Spent many a party or event at this place. Best wishes to them.

FUCK. This place is now closed and renovated into a biatch of a club. I have to write a review and pay homage to my favorite spot to watch the Lakers game. Huge place. Free parking. Average prices. Smoking patio. Tons of pool tables. Casual casual casual. Typical bar food. Full bar. Friendly service. Cool locals. Die-hard Lakers fans. No DJ!!! I will miss you Hollywood Billiards. RIP.

I LOVED this place. I practically grew up here. It WAS the kinda joint where real shooters, celebrities, and the everyday guy could go in and not be bothered. full of class. The kind of place that really knew how to treat regulars. Example: I was 11 when i started here and they allowed me to stay till closing time or if there was a private party was holding an event, Mike, the manager gave me the okay and told me to go upstairs and do my thing. Everyone just seemed to genuinely care about your experience there. I’ve only been back a handful of times since they have had new owners so I’m not to sure what its like now but if it is anything like before then you WANT to make this your spot for some pool with your buddies, watching the game, or even a date night.

I came here last year a few times to watch USC football games at events held for alumni. My take on this place is that it is pretty awesome! Not only did alumni get discounts on some food and drink items, but we also got to play pool for free, too. The entire upstairs section was reserved for the USC football game, with it playing on every television up there. You could either sit at the bar or on the couches and watch the big screens. I had some fun times here, and so I say it’s worth checking out!

This place is cool to hang out, I held an event for my company at the spot and the management was awesome. Everything went smoothly and people have bunch of options. Game room, pool, tvs, outside patio. This is nice place to be, def. check it out.

Went to HB for the 4th game of the Laker playoff series on a Thursday night and the place was not packed at all despite us coming in late. We were able to find street parking easily. The area that we sat in(right to the left when you enter) was unimpressive in terms of the décor and TV quality but good enough to catch a game. Out waitress had quite an attitude and rubbed the guys in our group the wrong way. She was quite condescending and sounded annoyed. She also took a while to get our order and bring refills. We noticed that the groups who flirted with her got their stuff a lot quicker. The food was very average, something you can find at any random bar & grill. We played pool after the game and that experience was much better as the waitress there was helpful and quick. Overall an average place with some weirdos in the crowd.

One of my friends turned 21 this past Sunday, and this was the spot where it was all going down. There’s a small parking lot in front of the place. One of our friends said it’s usually a paid lot, but we parked for free. Not sure if that’s always the case or not. The inside is a bit labyrinthine. There’s a hallway that leads straight down to the pool tables, to the left is a lounge with live music, to the right are some bathrooms and an outdoor area and just past the lounge is an open room full of couches and tables. That was where the party was at. They have a decent setup here. A projector and HDTV were showing«Jaws», there was ample room for everyone to spread out and get cozy. Smoking was permitted since the top was open(it retracts), which kinda sucked since I don’t smoke, but at least it wasn’t choking me out. They don’t have a bar in here, but they should. Even a little makeshift bar for events would make sense. Instead, I had to give my order to a server who was running around trying to keep up with opening tabs, ordering drinks and remembering who got what. But she ended up doing a fantastic job. They had a typical bar menu available, but I decided to pass on food since we’d just eaten a large meal at Bird’s down the street. But a friend does swear by the nachos, which appeared mountainous and generously slathered in toppings. Total cost for 2 Jack & Diets and a beer was $ 17, $ 20 with tip. Very reasonable. As a bonus, I ran into a completely hammered David Faustino in the bathroom. I was fully ready to harass him about the rarely-seen made-for-TV Disney movie«Mr. Boogedy» that he did in 1986, but I didn”t on the off chance that he’d either be a dick about it, or engage me in awkward conversation. Plus, he’s REALLY short, like 5’2″ or something. Not that I don’t talk to short people, but short, drunken child stars can be a fiery sort. I’d definitely come back here to shoot some pool and have a few drinks. It’s got some good atmosphere.

Looks like a bowling alley from the outside … and a massive warehouse of pool from inside. Walking in I was delighted to see some fun semi-outdoor lounge-looking areas … will have to try those when LA is NOT monsooning … Plentyyyy of tables, and a surprising amount of people for a Tuesday night. My gang and I went to surprise a friend for his b’day so we got a private«007» themed room in the back with our own waitress who was probably the nicest chick in the history of waitresses. Whose name I obviously don’t remember, but she was a treat. The place had an amusing, if not the most delicious-sounding, cocktail and drink menu. Interestingly enough, most were named after bizarre desserts.(Peanut butter and jelly cocktail … Cinnabun cocktail … ehhh. Prob more promising in name only) and all the mixed drinks were strong. as. shit. Think … a glass of vodka.

Cool place to play some pool and watch some sports. That’s what my friends and I did a few weeks ago. There are plenty of TVs all around the place. They even have some projector screens in the main room. So you’ll be able to watch the game while playing pool. The staff was cool. The prices on drinks and food was not bad either.

Cool spot to sit and chill, especially if you need to kill some time in the Hollywood area. I came here after dinner in Thai town. It was a Monday night so it was pretty chill. Lots of TVs and places to sit. I noticed a sign that said minimum of 5 people to sit on the tables/couches, but it was pretty empty so I don’t think they minded. It was probably one of the bigger pool halls I ever been to. But dude, $ 6 for a bottle of Heiny? Ouch. That’s club prices yo! No wonder people stick to the $ 2 Bud on tap. LOL

A real sports bar. Pool tables and TVs abound. Cheap beer specials and an inviting atmosphere. Some disappointments though: Pros: –Bud and Bud Light on tap for $ 2. For me this is compulsory. –Plasmas everywhere –A room or the necessary space for everyone. If you wanna just chillax, one can secure a ‘private’ space near the front door. –Parking. This place has its own parking lot. If you get there early, street parking can be avoided. Cons: –The food. Skip the wings and everything else and just order fries. –The food –Did I mention the food? Hopefully the consultants who are regularly summoned to HB will read my review and do something about the food. :(

I was surpised how busy this place was in the middle of the week. There were people waiting for a table when left. Since this was my first time here I did not know what to expect. When I walked in the first set of door & smelled the smoke from cigars & cigarette I had a cheap casino vibe, the I walked into the main room I had a better feel for it. I like the set up, I had a few good games of pool with my cousin & some good food. My main complaint is the one waitress they had. Not her fault but the fact that she was the only waitress at a very busy time. I had to go get my own beer. Anway a very good place to go for any type of people, any time of the day because they serve breakfast too.

This is where our alumni association goes to watch college football. In addition to being a Washington Huskies bar, it is also home to the Michigan Wolverines. We have a back room dedicated our party, but there is plenty of space elsewhere. There is even an upstairs that is seldom used but can be if the capacity calls for it. The server is a little slow, but they seem to be working hard, so my only suggestion would be for management to schedule more workers on game days. The food is average bar food at best. I’ve had the wings which are not that great, but the nachos and potato skins are good. There are a lot of TVs and the atmosphere is great for watching sports. They could update their Tvs though, as some still don’t have HD. There are plenty of pool tables and I’ve never seen it overcrowded. Location can’t be beat as it is right off the 101 freeway.

$ 2 dollar Budwisers on tap… Every night?! You got my attention. I maybe a lot of things but a beer snob is not one of them and deals like this just win me over. The bar itself is great. Very comfortable with enough places to sit where it never feels crowded. There are too many pool tables to count, maybe one day if I become a better player I will try one out… but until then I’ll just stick to the bar. With there cheep draft prices and decent food. They even have a meal fit for gluttons like myself: a pitcher of bud and a plate of nachos for only 12 bucks! And its all so close that I can stumble home with minor fear of a drunk in public. The prices for PPV event are a little high. $ 20 is a bit of a rip but its still better than the $ 50 you would pay to watch it at home. The upstairs area is dark with rows of big screen TVs along the walls to watch your sports. My only complaint is when they show 2 events on one night like the Boxing and UFC fights hearing both station at full blast can really ruin your concentration and make you head hurt. But other than that Hollywood Billiards is a fun sports bar.

I used to love coming to Hollywood Billiards for NFL Sundays. Being a Redskins fan too, it was almost like being at a game. I’ve met some of my closest friends while sitting on the couches there, in front of the big HD flat screen, screaming our heads off at our Redskins. We were so excited to be going back to the Billiards again this season on Sunday mornings, but we were in for a big let down. First of all, they told us the place was under new management, which sometimes means a good thing, but this time it was not. One of the biggest problems we had was that the couches that are set up in front of the TV(which makes for a great living room-esque atmosphere) are now only available to parties of 5 per couch. How ridiculous is this? The waitress told us that if we didn’t have 5 people in our party, we couldn’t sit there. I’ve been sitting there for years! And how many groups of 5 are coming through the doors on Sundays? usually it’s groups of 2 or 3. So you’re telling me that if my girlfriend and I are sitting on the couch, and a group of 3 other people sit next to us, that we all have to leave because we’re not all together? Horseshit! Then, we come to find out that they’ve scaled down the menu considerably, and our favorite thing(Breakfast Burrito) is off the menu! What the hell? Now it’s replaced with the exact same meal as the regular breakfast except they give you an empty tortilla to put the food in yourself. If I wanted to make my own damn burrito I would work at Chipotle. Smaller inconveniences include not allowing the waitress to bring water, but instead there’s a water station where I have to leave watching the game to go over and pour myself my own cup of water. In any event, I am thoroughly disappointed in the changes this«New Management» has made and have decided that my friends and I will no longer be coming back to Hollywood Billiards for NFL Sundays. I’m going to find another place that’s closer by that actually has management staff who’s interested in giving the customers the best experience possible.

All I need to know is that they have the Big Ten network and after a bit of convincing, were willing to tune one of the tvs to the Illinois-Illinois State blowout(go Illini!). After a few minutes, they even turned up the volume to audible levels. The beer selection is not the best(nothing like the Blue Palms a few blocks away) but the prices aren’t bad. They were short staffed but I don’t mind walking over to the bar and getting my own beer. Those are all minor complaints when considered in context of my ability to watch my Illini play without having to drive out to Santa Monica.

Me & two friends went here on a Sunday evening to shoot some pool and meet up with a group. The place was easy to find, right off the 101 freeway. Valet parking was $ 5, paid up front. I’ve utilized valet parking many times, but you normally pay when you pick up your car. This was a bit odd. We should have just gone with street parking, but we weren’t sure of the neighborhood. Bouncer checked our IDs as we entered the building. It was early, so there was no wait. The place was crowded. Many people were watching a college football game. We looked at their website beforehand and it looked very swanky, reminding me of Lucky Strikes, the fancy bowling alley. Sadly, the actual facility is NOT like that. It is sort of run down and dismal inside. There were a lot of pool tables and service was quick, so they get a star for that. Employees were courteous and prices for pool were good($ 6/hour before 8PM). Tables were fair and the cues were not terribly warped. They provided plenty of chalk. Beer selection was not good, as other reviewers have noted. My friend tried to order a beer and they ran out of many choices. Poor thing ended up getting a gross tasting Amstel lite that I paid $ 5.00 for. Yikes! Also, the group we were supposed to meet up with was decidedly unfriendly and kept harassing my other friend to help pay for their pool tables. Double yikes! Another thing that is odd: you need to leave your ID and credit card WITH the attendant when you rent a table. Their policy is stated in writing and it IS enforced. This applies even if you do not pay with a credit card. So, you might want to give this place a pass if that creeps you out. And while we are on the topic of creeps: some strange old guys kept checking my friends out. This place is not for you if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing. Let’s try to end on a positive note: the place did not smell of cigarette smoke inside. Whew! We left quickly after an hour. Don’t think we will be back.

My boyfriend and I came here for the stand-up comedy show but unfortunately, the show was canceled that night but the workers were kind enough to give let us play pool for free to make up for us driving all the way up from Long Beach. Unfortunately, I can’t play pool so that didn’t go so well. I have a hard time getting the stick to hit the ball. Hollywood Billards has a great atmosphere. All the workers are really friendly — even the valet guy.

Mon & Wed after 8PM for every $ 30 you spend on drinks & food you get 2 hours of free pool(which is $ 12 an hour I think?).

I am not really a pool guy. I make some shots … Drink some beer … Miss more shots. All in all … The atmosphere was OK … That is if you like sports bars. The wait staff was alright. Consistent. The door guy was a complete DICK … He definitely had an extra chromosome or two. Never again.
