Cash only! If you just need a touch-up haircut – you know for the times when you’re not ready to splurge or waste hours waiting for someone to cut your hair but might need to get a haircut in a few weeks – this is the place to go. Mr. Lee is a good man and he sometimes has someone who can translate from English to Chinese. He does speak«men’s short hair» fluently and don’t worry about your haircut unless you have something elaborate in mind. If that’s the case, go to your regular guy/gal. Otherwise, I highly recommend this tiny-blink-and-miss-it place. Parking around here is terrible, but it’s Chinatown and I’m sure you’ll find someplace in the area.

I have had my hair cut here several times over the last year or so. The price of the men’s haircut is up to $ 6 but that is still a great bargain. The fellow who cuts my hair is fast and competent. He definitely knows what he is doing. And that is good because he speaks like two words of English. Fast and cheap, tough to beat if your hair doesn’t require any special treatment.

$ 5 haircut! NFW! OK, now that I said that, you have to love a place like this. It’s a tiny little salon on Hill St. in an older building. Out front is a sign with prices for various women’s and men’s services. Inside are 3 chairs, against the wall are a couch and a couple chairs. A fan quietly blows by the front window. Up on the walls are posters of cute young Chinese girls who’ve never been inside his shop. Ever. Around the room are bits and pieces of life from the owner, a middle aged Chinese man who shyly greets his customers. He tries to dress somewhat neat and modern, but doesn’t quite pull it off. When he’s busy trimming and cutting he tends to almost bounce a bit. There’s a springiness to his movements. He doesn’t talk much, but he does a fairly quick and good job. And for $ 5! I always tip him well. It’s a strangely quiet little shop, slightly run down, old tea bags lie in empty cups here and there, somewhere else is a half eaten lunch. But it’s comfortable and clean in it’s own way. A nice price too.
