came here for lunch. there was no one in at the moment which made for a great quiet lunch. chef and waitress were very nice. food was decently priced. I got the crispy rice patty with spicy tuna which was great. the rainbow roll and some pieces of white tuna and albacore. white tuna was good but a tad stringy. but everything was good portioned, they didn’t skimp and was priced right. they even gave me a few sample pieces to try out that the chef was experimenting with. If I’m working near this little spot. I’ll come back

I got ramen and spider roll for delivery, they were delivered in less than 30 minutes, I was very glad, and gave a star just for that; however, the spider roll was so small and crushed, the ramen tasted like its from a cup of noodles. Big disappointment!

What’s really nice about Hi Sushi is that the food, most importantly the fish, is always fresh. Food is always on point, exactly as ordered and super fresh and thus flavorful. It’s a small and simple place, but owner is very nice and in my experiences quite quick. Good prices, really good sushi — nice to have a local, reliable spot like this in DTLA.

This place gets a solid 4 stars for being easy take-out sushi with very friendly service. I order from his place using the Unilocal app and it’s fast and convenient. The food is reasonably priced and whenever I come in, the man(owner?) behind the counter is very friendly and my order is ready on time. I’ll definitely be ordering from them in the future.

Atmosphere: Very VERY small sushi spot, 4 tables and a small sushi bar. Ordered Items: Spicy Tuna salad and a crunchy roll. Just overall not a good experience. It was for one very hot inside of this tiny little sushi place, two the«chef» taking our order didn’t understand us, three they didn’t have soy paper(sad face). The crunchy roll was tiny and lacked fish and flavor, along with the spicy tuna salad. The only reason why they are getting two stars is because the lady that helped us was super nice.

This place is super tiny and the wait takes forever. The sushi was good but we ended up in the restaurant for an hour and a half while it was pretty much empty. There’s an older man who is the chef but also the server. There were three things other than the wait that made this a bad experience: 1.) A group of five ordered and he forgot two of our orders. We ended up having to wait another 45 minutes starving. 2.) He continually made to-go orders while we waited an hour for our food and were the he only ones in the restaurant. 3.) Its so damn hot in here with no AC This place seems great for take out but I wouldn’t dine in again.

This is my favorite lunch spot downtown. Owners are super friendly, and you can’t beat the lunch specials. I’ve been to a couple other spots like Nabeeya and there isn’t a comparison. Was hesitant to write a review because I wanted to keep it a secret, but I love this place so much I want to keep it in business! Now they’re on GrubHub so you can get free delivery or take out.

Hi? Well, hello! Inexpensive, fresh sushi in downtown LA. What more could you wish for? I had lunch delivered via GrubHub, and scooped up a $ 12.95 combination of a specialty roll(I picked rainbow) and five pieces of sushi with miso soup and salad. I added a cut California roll for $ 3.99. I like how fresh the fish was as it was perfectly soft and silken in my mouth. Regular prices are also very good — I think the rainbow roll is only $ 10 normally. I have to go into the actual restaurant to check this place out!

This place is great if you need to satisfy a sushi craving provided your in the DTLA area and don’t wanna pay Katsuya prices. Would not come from far to eat here, I happen to live in the jewelry district and this place was a few block away. Pros: prices are super reasonable, owner told us he gets his fish daily(fish market is near by), fish is fresh but the rice could use some work, most rolls taste pretty good. Cons: the street its on is shady, ladies don’t come here without a man or backup. Oddly enough one block up and your leave bumville and enter hipsterville with that said, if your in the area and not alone you should try this place I guarantee you will find a roll, sashimi or noddle that you like. Ohhh this place does delivery but as most sushi goes it taste best immediately after its been prepared. I have not tried delivery so I don’t know how fresh it arrives… we shall see. Since the outside of this establishment is littered with bums I would try this place out again(Im a fan) but will opt for delivery. Ps. if you live in DTLA you may not be bothered by the bums who harras or scare you… again you should check this place out. Once you inside its all good !!!

Five stars for outstanding sushi and fast, friendly customer service! Some of the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had — and awesome prices, too. The staff are really helpful and courteous. If you’re craving sushi in DTLA, definitely check this place out.

Here’s the thing– it looks like it will be terrible from the outside. On the inside is a dedicated sushi chef who will personalize your rolls with the freshest fish. The prices are more than reasonable and the salmon is like butter. Please, for the love of the neighborhood, frequent this delicious spot.

This is my new favorite place to grab lunch, low key, hidden, clean and near the office. For me this is all I can ask for, plus I am a huge sushi fan and the sushi here is great, lately I have been alternating between the sushi/sashimi lunch special — which is great value and a huge amount of food, or the sashimi salad which is light, fresh and has a fabulous dressing. So far everything I have ordered has been fresh, tasty and generous in serving size. The rolls are also fun, although I prefer traditional sushi but either are good and not too heavy on the rice. If you are looking for an affordable but good quality quick casual lunch while downtown(and I believe they are also open for dinner) this is your place.

It’s in a sort of random unexpected location, but just what I needed at the moment. I was in this area, craving sushi and this place definitely delivered. Not a pretty place, but you really shouldn’t eat sushi in LA at the pretty places anyway since they seem to disappoint. I will be back if I end up in this area again!

The avocado roll is unique from all other avocado roll, and the spicy tuna roll is the perfect balance of spice and flavor !! Recommend this restaurant to all you Sushi lovers because this place IS the BEST sushi around, period! The customer service that the husband and wife that run this restaurant show to my boyfriend and I everytime here is always nothing less than the best! So Even if u may have to travel far to experience this Sushi place, I know u will definitely say it was worth whatever you had to go through to get here!

I love sushi. I have sushi ALL the time. Just passing this place I normally wouldn’t choose it but one day I did. I have only been here 3 times thus far, all of which I have only had take out. The quality of sushi for the price is amazing. I enjoy going out to eat more then ordering in but this place is located quite close to me and they always have the food ready in 10 – 15 minutes. I have been hesitant many times to order take out sushi because it is either warm, lacking something or just does not taste the same as eating at the restaurant. No problems here. The restaurant itself isn’t that aesthetically pleasing but it’s a sushi joint, if the sushi is good who cares! Also, when I called and asked for Yellowtail sushi they said they ran out. Instead of finishing there they suggested the salmon and said it was very good today. Spot on! The salmon was so fresh creamy it just dissolved in your mouth. Has not failed to impress yet!

Let me cut to the chase before going in depth about it: this little hole in the wall is the perfect quick stop for sushi! I LOVE sushi. I would eat it every day and for a while, I did eat it everyday. Imagine my joy when my husband discovered this spot right across the street from our building 2 months after we moved in. Yes, it’s very low-key and unassuming – hence the two months before we noticed it. The chef(brother of the owner) is so nice. I got to talking to him about the Unilocal reviews and his position was: «I’m happy for good reviews but I don’t read Unilocal anymore. I do my best, always my best, and my customers will come back if the are happy.» I LOVETHATATTITUDEASMUCHAS I LOVESUSHI! Don’t do I for the Unilocal,do it for the passion… for the people. True, genuine good service. The place is small and sans the fancy trimmings of other expensive sit-down restaurants around. However, the selection is big enough and the fish is fresh. They have a lunch option that comes with 4 sushi, 3 nigiri, 1 roll for $ 14.99! I mean, come on! Perfect lunch! There is nothing worse than a big fancy sushi spot with only 4 rolls to offer in their aim for an «upscale»(ahem – boogie) feel. Obviously, not where you would go for a fancy night out but if you are into the hometown, humble feel with genuine service and good food, this is it! Omg, also I can’t get their salad out of my head. The dressing is AMAZING!

Love my dinner with Andy… he is too much fun and creates some great sushi dishes… I went back with a friend and we had a great time, enjoyed the noodle soup, really good and healthy as well. The fish is fresh and reasonable as well and perfect location close to my loft. It seems to be a tourist attraction since the hotel is next door…
