Very good food, great price, relatively slow service. I had Chicken Teriyaki(Spicy) which was fantastic. Comes with rice too, and a modest salad. I also tried the Teriyaki Beef(Spicy) which seemed fine, but not as good. I’d like to come back here again for sure.

Stop here from time to time. This time i had the Double Cheese burger. Nothing to slap your wife over. It’s a college commons quality burger. Skip the sauce, its rank! Then ur fine. Service is QUICK& fine. I don’t know what some folks EXPECT, for $ 3.50, damn!

One star is too much for this place. its close to work and I thought I would take a chance since even though it looks like a dirty, run down hut — it may be good food. Ordered chicken teriyaki and let me explain. Soggy dark meat chicken with NO flavor whatsoever on a bed of white rice DRENCHED in teriyaki sauce. Like… A rice soup. Anyways guess what? I just looked at it when I got to work and said No way. Went back to change it or for a refund of the untouched food and they said NOWAY. Laughable. They can keep the food and the money. That place is just gross… I’m sure they need anything they can get. Cest la vie!

This place used to be AWESOME when«Mama San» ran the show… I’ve lived in the area for 15 years, and I went there for the breakfast special almost every day. It was a highlight of my morning and something to look forward to! Then, it changed ownership. The food is much lower quality than it was before; I don’t get the breakfast special anymore because the bacon tastes funny. The staff provide terrible service, and today I was insulted and given immense attitude by some woman who tried to overcharge me. Let’s see…$ 5.50 + $ 1.75 = $ 7.25. It is NOT $ 8.50! Even worse, she was unwilling to use a calculator or write it on on paper; I just got attitude from her. Now, both the food and the service are AWFUL. I don’t think I will ever be going back… it’s VERYSAD, since this used to be one of the best kept secrets in LA!

Ownership has changed? Before when I went the breakfast was good, portions big and all that good stuff. Just went 15 minutes ago and their«philly cheesesteak» is beef teriyaki with the sauce washed off on a french roll with cheese. No mushrooms, bell peppers, nothing. It was not very good considering I wasn’t in the mood of a teriyaki flavor. Also, fries were undercooked and soggy. I don’t have time to go back to get my order fixed but then again, I shouldn’t have to. Cash only. Don’t think I will be coming back. Sad because it’s a block away from my work.

One star not for food, the food are really great, even though sometime they put the wrong meat in my burrito but I am ok with that(ordered ham but turned out to be chicken couple times). So one star is for they are lying. I always order one if I run late in the morning have no time to prepare breakfast. One morning as usual, I ordered breakfast burrito over the phone and went to pick up thereafter. I chatted with the Mexico guy for a while when I pick it up and then he forgot to give me the change(I am not saying there is no fault on my end cuz I grasp my burrito and rush to work, forgot to ask for Change. I realized it as soon as I get to office an called them, the Korean guy asked me to go back next morning to get my money. The the coming morning when I get there, the guy said he gave the change and I am lying, WT heck, you lying for just for 10 dollars. And his face was like– shut up and leave we have other customers. And while I talked about it, he kept asking“what do you want to order?” nothing and I will not order from this place anymore. I feel regret to recommend this place to so many friends. Liar

There is definitely some magic mixed into all the delicious greasiness! Extra spicy teriyaki!

Had a good breakfast sandwich from this spot the other day. Nice service and convenient for a quick«to go» meal. They have a few outdoor seats, though not sure I want to sit and breathe Santa Monica Blvd.

I guess I spoke too soon. The last two times that I have been at Hearty Deli has been a rude awakening. Seems like owner lady and her kitchen helper do not understand the importance of washing or at least sanitizing your hands after handling cash or coins. I have seen her on every occasion now touching chicken, bread and other food items immediately after handling cash money and coins. To the very LEAST she should wear plastic gloves after handling cash to avoid contaminating produce and food items… come on that’s what gloves are for. Before, I did not mind coming here for a quick bite. Sadly now, it will only be for a cup of orange juice, can of soda or bag of chips.

Used to come here after school sometimes during high school so decided to pay them a visit. Wanted to try the teriayaki chicken plate but they have a picture of it up and it did not look like it came with a lot of chicken. Ordered a double burger combo, paid and proceeded to wait in car. Came back out some minutes later and guy asks me «fries?» I said yea. Hands me bag of fries but also charges me. I tell him I already paid and that I am missing my burger and drink. Turns out he gave my order to the kids who only ordered fries! Had to wait for order to be remade. Later the lady who took my order asks if I am paying for the other kids order! WTF??? I told her her cook messed up by giving someone else my order. I obviously did not have to pay again but did have too wait extra. Fries are really good(shoesting, seasoned) burger is slightly above average. No complaints. Parking can be difficult, if you are lucky one of the meters right in front of place will be available.

Décor was extremely old and weathered. Lady at the counter was nice. They got my order right. The burger patty was razor thin. The fries were almost brown and tasted like they had been fried in month old oil. Meh.

I came here with a couple of coworkers, and if I would have judged this book by it’s cover I would have quickly put it back on the shelf. My premature judgment would have been right, as eating at Hearty Deli was a regrettable experience. I ordered a Pastrami and Cheese Sandwich combo. The sandwich was okay, but was super tiny with almost no meat. It took me about 3 or 4 bites to each each side, and the taste of the cheese overwhelmed the pastrami to the point that I could hardly taste it. They did give me lots of fries, but that was the worst part of the meal. They were some of the strangest fries I have ever had, and had a burnt tempura taste to them. The only good part of the meal that I truly enjoy was the Arizona Fruit Punch that I ordered as part of my combo. Otherwise, eating at Hearty Deli was a mistake that my stomach is still kicking me for.

**Review for ONLY the boba drink** I have an addiction to boba beverages. I ordered the thai iced tea boba. I was ready to indulge. Waaaaaaaaaaay to sweet. The boba was a nice consistency. Meh.

I could eat an egg and cheese burger here every day and I would probably become some sort of super human from it. Why aren’t you eating here? You’re ridiculous.

For about 5 years, I’ve lived about a block from Hearty’s Deli but never had the courage to stop by and order food. After all, Hearty’s Deli is probably only as big as a taco-truck and doesn’t look very impressive from the outside. Now, don’t get me wrong; I love hole-in-the-wall’s as much as the next cheapass Chinese boy raised by «frugal» Chinese parents who would tell us not to eat lunch because we’d be going to a buffet restaurant for dinner and we should get the most out of our money… Yeah, Hearty’s has affordable food(not as cheap as my Chinese DNA is screaming for) and the food’s quick, but it’s neither cheap nor tasty enough for me to want to come back on a regular basis. Yes, you can order food from a menu that must suffer from schizophrenia, from Bagels & Cream Cheese to Tuna Sandwiches to Omelets to Korean BBQ to Philly Cheesesteak to Teriyaki Chicken. But while the food’s okay, none of what I’ve had is memorable. Having said that, the Korean family who run the place in that tiny shoebox are really sweet and nice. =D And so, I continue on with my quest to find massive amount of food for a cheap price. Gotta make my ancestors proud, ya know.

Where else can I get the best greasy bacon filled artery clogging breakfast burrito this side of the 405 at 7am? Not fancy but really how fancy can a food stand be? They’re quick and to the point you order and wait 4 minutes then breakfast burrito is served! yes!

I love the chicken teriyaki plate medium spicy — absolutely delicious! The chicken teriyaki sandwich is moist and juicy. Amazing breakfast burritos as well!

I have been driving by this burger stand for months and I have always wanted to try it. Since I worked from home today I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I order the beef teriyaki sandwich combo(fries and a drink) which cost $ 7.75. If there is one thing I will say about this place is that they do make your orders fast as I only had to wait a minute or two for my sandwich. However, there are a bunch of other observations I have to make about this place: — First of all, even though I ordered beef they gave me CHICKEN. I decided complaining wasn’t worth it. — As I was waiting for my sandwich one of the other customers wasn’t given his change(he paid with a 20) and had to ask the lady for it. Not very reassuring. — The fries weren’t that good because they were soggy and soft. — The chicken teriyaki actually turned out to be good and moist but the only drawback is that the sandwich wasn’t that big.

Do you want breakfast heaven? Do you?! Here’s the plan… 1. Go to Hearty(not Hearty’s) Deli on Friday morning. 2. Order a medium coffee and a breakfast burrito with bacon. 3. They will give you your coffee whilst you wait for your burrito. 4. Take said coffee to the stand, grab a Metromix and plan your weekend. 5. Get your perfectly packed breakfast masterpiece and some hot sauce. 6. Ecstasy!

This place is amazingly bad for you! It’s right down the street(about a mile) from my office, so i walk to it for lunch. I have to walk to it to even fathom being allowed to eat roughly my weekly caloric intake in 1 sitting. However, it’s AMAZING. One of those places that serves teriyaki chicken, breakfast burritos, burgers, and grilled cheese. INSANE! Today, i had the #3… cheeseburger meal, add chili to the fries, and a coke(true… it’s about that time of the month, but WHATEVSBITCHES). Burger: not too big, perfect size… about 3 oz meat, 1 slice of cheese, tomatos, lettuce, onions, thousand island, yum… fries: TOTES gross unless you add chili… which is straight up out of a can… making it all the more amazing. Other things i’ve had: 1. Club sandwich– DAMN good. Not Healthy. BUTDEFINITELYHEARTY. 2. Grilled Cheese– not worth it to walk there. you can drive. still bad for you… but approximately caloric intake of 2 meals. Essentially, if you’re at court for that damn speeding ticket or if you work in the WESTLA area, stop over here for lunch. It rules. Oh! But try not to make your order confusing… you might end up with chili on something strange… and bring CASH!(btw the cheeseburger MEAL is something like 4.30! CHEAP!)
