I am so sad that they are no longer opened. Just one more time? A fat double burger this time with a side of sucio fries? I miss you.

Damn man. These are some flavorful burgers Took the teenager there this Thursday and got a hamburger, turkey burger and dirty fries. So glad I did. To get a fussy 15 year old girl to say«Wow, this is really good» is a modern day miracle. The turkey burger is seasoned well and paired with a great sauce, the hamburger was tangy and just spicy enough. And the fries — sweet lord the fries. This place knows what’s up.

i love me a good burger i’m usually not into fusion food or weird variations of classics but i was intrigued and excited to try this spot since it was recommended by a friend who knows his stuff the place is a tiny stall that you’d probably miss if you weren’t paying attention i opted for the single hamburger but had a bite of the cheeseburger YUM i love the soft yet lightly crisp bun the juicy, drippy meat patty (i’m okay with it, but a warning to those who aren’t: the patties are thin.) a solid burger in my book also had the dirty fries with chorizo holy moly i will definitely stop by again

Always I’m disappointed with a place when I’ve looked forward to them for too long. This place did not disappoint though. On the contrary, I was blown away! I got the hamburguesa with queso, and it was great! Awesome flavors, from the home made pickles, to the chipotle ketchup, and all the fresh ingredients… Wow. Then there’s the papas susias! Another win! I couldn’t stop digging in! That chorizo cheese sauce combined with the mil islas, yum!!! I’m stopping here before work from now on, especially since they’ll be open until 3 on weekends!

They have pictures of the Guadalupana(Virgin Mary) which makes it the most authentic Mexican joint I have been to in LA. Come on! Nothing screams Mexican more than religious figures and Mexican Thousand Island sauce. Duh. *Cue for Lana del Rey to start playing* All sarcasm aside, besides the Virgin Mary, this place is minimalistic in it’s décor and menu. Coming here is comical. The guy manning the iPad is a character. There is always some sort of argument with him and the other employees. It doesn’t bother me tho, I just site and watch in amusement. Now to the food, I dig it. The hamburgers and the papas sucias have a little kick to it with their special sauce(Mexican Thousand Islands.) Think of it as In-n-Out with a little spicy aftertaste. Is it expensive? Well of course it is! What kind of question is that? I’ve paid $ 14 for a meal. They do have a simple menu which makes ordering that much easier. The place is small but I’ve never felt smothered… mainly cause I take my food to go. If you get lucky, you can score a seat outside and enjoy the wonderful LA breeze and all it’s intoxicating aromas(that I swear smells just like dog piss…) If you are not from the hood, there is a parking lot conveniently next to it that will set you back about $ 7. Small price to pay in DTLA. Overall, I like it. You should try it. Then walk across the street and bring me an hamburgesa con queso. Doesn’t hurt to try…

I am taking away one star because the hamburger bread always disintegrates from the excess water from the sauces and lettuce. I do love their dirty fries and delicious sauces they make. Thank you! Please change the bread to a thicker one so that it handles the lettuce, tomato, and the sauces!

These guys are really cool. I like the concept(fast, inexpensive, but good quality) and the delivery was spot on. There are plenty of high end, pricey burger joints, but on the low end, there’s not much out there. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. This area needs good lunch spots that are fast and tasty, without breaking the bank everyday. We had a great conversation with the proprietor, he was knowledgeable and very honest about his methods. I like that. What we had: A turkey burger with cheese, fries, a cheeseburger and they made a special grilled cheese with an egg for my 4 year old. It was less than $ 30. A steal to feed 3 people with beverages. What was classy– rolling with the request to make a sandwich my kid could eat, and not gouging me for it. It’s the little things. It is such a dying art– to help the customer have a nice experience. This place is brand new, they know what they are doing and it’s inexpensive. I am reticent to call it cheap, that makes it sound bad. It’s just not expensive, and well worth the price of admission. The employees were fantastic also, really nice accommodating guys!

I was hungry and I wanted something quick and easy so I stopped in to Hamburguesas Punta Cabras on my lunch break to pick up some burgers for me and a couple of coworkers. I had heard about this place opening on Eater LA so my expectations were a bit high when I came in here. The vibe of this place is really weird. For just opening up it feels totally run down and grungy. I would not want to sit at the counter. It’s also fairly hot inside so I wouldn’t think about saying. The guys behind the counter were also just … meh. None of them were super friendly about anything so I just ordered and left. I ordered a black bean burger. It was kinda spicy. I didn’t even remember the name of this place so I kind of forgot it’s latin inspired. This led me to be kinda shocked by their spicy ketchup, which I wasn’t expecting, but it was pretty decent. It would have been nice to also just have some normal ketchup offered, just if you don’t feel like eating spice on your burger. I liked the shredded lettuce and house made pickles. My burger, though, was pretty messy and didn’t travel well(only a 5 min walk!). The fries were fine but nothing special. I would be back here if I was in a pinch, but there are a ton of great places in the area to try.

The food is blah, if I’m paying $ 8-$ 9 for a burger I expect it to be amazing. The patties and buns are thin and nothing special. They put shredded lettuce on the burgers which screams cheap and McD’s to me, $ 9 and you can’t give me some spinach or something better then cafeteria food? They are closed on Sundays, seriously? Sundays? I eat out 85% of the time on the weekends. A freind wanted to give it another try but they were closed, so never going bacj again. The thousand island sauce and chipolte ketchup are the only good thing about this place.

Seriously, this place is a life-changing experience. The delicious vibes cannot be understated. For you restaurant folks: imagine if a Michelin chef was hanging out in the restaurant kitchen after his shift and decided to use all the crazy ingredients to make the waitstaff orgasmic burgers and wacky but delicious sauces to go with your fries… Yeah. It’s like that. I would suggest basically getting the entire menu here.

I liked it. I like it alot. I wanted to not like it because this place replaced my go to spot for breakfast burritos on those lazy Saturdays when i wanted to do nothing that required effort. But that burger. And those dirty fries. So tasty i almost made this my dinner two days in a row. Im not a huge thousand island fan but the mil islands dressing made it one tasty burger. Along with the pickles, and the nicely seasoned patty and the subtle but delicious grilled green onions… My only suggestion would be to decorate a little so i have something to stare at while I’m waiting for my order and then devouring my meal. Maybe a mural? Or some artwork?

To start off, the bad. Either you might suffocate inside with the ventilation or you sit outside and have homeless people badger you for your burger every 30 seconds. Just kidding, it wasn’t that bad. But in a part of downtown where gentrification is(unfortunately) deporting everyone to Skid Row, sitting indoors might give you a more peaceful dinner. Apart from the homeless, you might also have bewildered pedestrians who will stare at the Mexican sign from the old restaurant and then stare quizzically at your burger. Half of those people will be walking dogs, who also seem to never stop yapping(maybe it’s because they smell the burger). But really though, the burger here is something else. Yes, burgers are American and it’s a comfort food, but we are truly blessed in LA to have so many options for a great burger. Do you want five million types of beer with your burger? Go to Father’s Office! Do you want a futuristic burger that has ketchup leather? Go to Plan Check! Do you not want fries with your burger? Go to Umami! Or if all else fails, you could just go to In-N-Out too(though it should definitely be a first choice). So to stay above sea level in this dangerously large pool of burger competitors, you really have to be good. Despite the appearances of this place, it delivers no less. The burger here is amazing, and it doesn’t cost $ 15 dollars. The beef patties here are the main stars(as they should be), being perfectly seasoned and flavorful, and you might start to think that grass-fed beef really is better. You might start to question why other places charge so much for a burger when this place only costs between $ 5-$ 8 and tastes equally amazing. The small details here are not forgotten. The buns are toasted to perfection, and the pickles are housemade. The patties are seared perfectly. The buns are soft without being soggy, and there’s just enough lettuce in there to convince you that your next trip to the bathroom won’t be terrible. This is probably my new favorite burger place downtown, and might even be tastier than In-N-Out(which might be considered heresy here on the West Coast). Rumor has it that one of the owners who opened this place worked at Ludobites as well as Urasawa, and it seems that only in LA do people move downwards from fine dining to burgers. Ludo has a fried chicken truck, and Guerilla Tacos is opened by an Alain Ducasse disciple. Should anything else even be surprising?

YUmmmmMMMMMMMM double double with cheese and fries. Wish all burgers were like this. We don’t need fancy brioche buns or dry-aged meats or aoili… just juicy meat, cheese and spicy thousand island please.

Love, love, love it. This is like an In & Out burger that’s gone a bit high end. The meat is from Premier meat co, and you can tell… it’s juicier and more tender than most. The big difference is also the homemade pickles. They remind me almost of the pickles you get on the side at Japanese restaurants. Great idea putting them on a burger. Can’t wait till you guys add more items(I hear talk of a shrimp burger… fuck yeah!!!). I’m already trying to resist not going there every day… it’s so fucking close to my place… must…resist…beef…aw fuck it.

One of the many continuing upgrades to Downtown that make it an awesome place to live. This ends a 3 year long search for a burger place in LA that I long to go back to. Things to note: — This is not a «gourmet» burger joint where you’ll find overpriced burgers served on fancy pretzel buns with arugula and dates and shit — This is not a place to bring your date if your goal is to impress her with the ambience — The seating here is pretty limited The burgers here are totally dialed in the way I like it. Thin smashed patties, simple American cheese with crisped edges, a bun that doesn’t try to attract attention to itself. I go for the double with cheese because I’m secretly a fat-ass. Fries are of the thin variety with high surface area to potato ratio for maximum crispiness. Get the chorizo cheese sauce and the mil islas dressing. Prepare for deep food coma afterwards.

Just spent $ 12.50 for a mediocre cheese burger, dirty fries, and can soda. Nothing special about the burger. Pickles were okay. Wouldn’t come back even if it was half the price.

If you are looking for gourmet burgers, feel free to walk a few extra blocks to Umami. If you’re looking for a burger reminiscent of what your mom might’ve made(or the sort of burger legacy that in-n-out has tried to preserve), come to Hamburguesas. They do have fancy sauces and fancy fry toppings but ultimately, it’s a simple meal that is neither extraordinary nor dull. They don’t claim to be organic or trendy hipsterish(pretty sure I saw frozen patties, packaged chorizo and pre-cut fries but who cares?), there is nothing presumptuous about this little place. It’s just a humble little window that cooks up a simple satisfying meal. P. S. I’ve eaten to go and I have eaten on-site, definitely eat on-site.

The sauces and flavors of the burgers and fries are awesome! A great twist on the american classics. This place is not Umami burger but if you’re craving a quick burger and fries this place will definitely hit the spot. Make sure you try the papas sucio«Dirty Fries» the chorizo cheese sauce is great along with the Mil Islas(Mexican Thousand Island) sauce. You can also ask for a complimentary side of Mexican ranch and grab a bottle of their chipotle ketchup. The meat is prepared fresh and never frozen so it is definitely a not your typical fast food joint. Verdict: Will definitely be going back to Hamburguesas Punta Cabras the dirty fries were better then your in-n-out animal style fries, that is as long as you can handle a bit of spice.

Frankly, I was disappointed. The only good thing about this place is that they have a unique sauce. Otherwise, if you get down to just the burger and the fries, both are sub-par. I ordered the double cheeseburger and dirty fries. The fries were greasy and ranged from extra crispy to somewhat limp. The burger patties were incredibly thin, where the two parties ended up being about the size of one standard patty. To add insult to injury, the patties were both dry and the cheese was nearly non-existent. Like I said, the sauce was unique and very tasty, which is why we’re up to 3 stars, so they just need to work on the basics and it will be great.

The DTLA offshoot of Santa Monica’s Tacos Punta Cabras, Hamburguesas Punta Cabras puts a Mexican spin on a great burger, adding some very tasty with homemade sauces and jams. I had the cheeseburger, tomatillo and chorizo jam, and the dirty fries(covered in cheese and chorizo sauce), and adding their Chipotle catsup. My next visit will need to involve bringing more people to order the whole menu to taste! It’s a small space inside with counter against the wall plus stools, two tall tables outside that could fit 8 each, and there are 2 parklets just north and south of the joint if you take your order to go(with a lovely succulent living wall on the north side… very nice touch!). I gotta say that everybody was really nice(ensuring a fast order and finding me a seat outside), and the German dude really loves to talk! Please, please please be open till 3 am with the robust club and bar scene nearby!
