Location location location. Love the arts district! Anyhow… Cool lil store. Lots of gf and vegan items that i have yet to see at other stores. Whole foods, sprouts etc… And staff was helpful. Store is small but i like that it keeps me from spending a million dollars on food haha

I just got back from there and was delighted by this place. I went on a Saturday at 12 in the afternoon. I live pretty close to here and finding that ‘neighborhood’ market is difficult because there aren’t too many to choose from. There are a few in this area that fall into this category of a neighborhood market. Being a resident in this area for about 7 years, I’ve concluded that for this area organic, farm fresh, and healthy products is a standard. It’s almost which farms and community businesses that these markets choose from and customer experience almost determine which market to go to and support. I know that this is a new business and that they need time to build up their inventory, customer base, and experience. That all being said… Here are my general observations and experiences: 1– It is Downtown and parking will always be an issue no matter where you go, but since there are many shops in that area and will be coming to that area… I think that it’ll be a greater issue as time continues. For my visit today, there was luckily one spot open! Had I gotten there a few minutes later, I may have been S.O.L. There was a car behind me that entered the lot and there was no spot for him to park, I don’t know what he ended up doing? This is not GROW’s fault, but it is part of the customer experience. 2– The interior decorations were nice, simple, and streamlined. Living in this area, it’s known as the Arts District and GROW is across the street from the famous Sci-Arc School… It would have been nice to have seen them take advantage of this community to create a unique look to their store. 3-Signage. Reading past reviews, I saw that there are events and other things that happen there, but it would have been nice to visually see a «calendar of events» or a place where we could have signed up to be put on an electronic mailing list for deals and events. Also, the signage for sandwiches at the deli was very high and I didn’t notice them until I was ready to leave and was on my way out. 4– For being a small ‘neighborhood’ type of grocery store, it would have been nice for someone came up to me and ask if I would like any assistance. Especially when I spent some time walking around the store. Even the large name brand store have people hired to do this. I will say that the butcher behind the counter was quite friendly and the only person that said anything to me, besides the seller of the Paleo Ice Cream(which was very good and I did buy some!). Not that I needed any help, but it would have been nice to get a personal connection with this place. Being a resident in this area, it marks the difference from choosing one place to another. 5– This place had what I needed for my shopping and covered every category of shopping needs. But, there wasn’t a lot of items in the general categories that I was looking for. For example, they had cereals and grains, but their selection wasn’t expansive. I love cheese and they had a cheese section, but there wasn’t a huge selection. Also, I was looking for salami for a cheese platter I was creating for a gathering. They had a couple of choices, but it really came down to only one being freshly cut. Overall in general, it’s a good store. I know that after some more time, their inventory and selections will be even greater. And, a BIG hope is that they integrate and advertise themselves more into this community by using local artists and business. The big question is will I go again… yes!

gotta agree with another Unilocal reviewer on this and without knowing the back story(btw …woah!) what a confusing addition to the art’s district. we didn’t need another expensive market. we needed somewhere we could get the basics at prices we could afford. this place isn’t even on the same level of the radish. just don’t get it.

Wow, what an amazing amount of quality organic and specialty foods. The layout and location are great. I was even greeted personally by staff. I have to say this is about as good as a produce shop could get. Unfortunately, I could not find anything I could afford on my budget… I do buy good food and I really looked. It seems strange to me that both this store and Urban Radish have neglected to notice that some of the largest produce wholesalers in the country are blocks away and yes, they sell organic(by the pallet). Every farmers market in town is flooded with these quality organics at 30% less. I will be back because I really like the store and people, but I need to be able to buy a similar amount of food for my dollar as I can elsewhere(«elsewhere» = 30% less for fresh organics within 5 blocks).

Absolutely LOVE the sandwiches. Haven’t been disappointed yet and have driven quite a bit just for the sandwiches. Love the service and smiles you get every time you walk in. Everything is unique and can’t be found just anywhere. Great addition to the arts district.

Super convenient and well curated local grocery store. The staff is very friendly and free with the samples, the produce is fresh and varied, and I am pretty surprised at how fair the pricing is for its quality and location. They seem very receptive to suggestions from local residents. Such a welcome addition to the neighborhood!

First I want to point out how nice it is to see a store manager taking the time to write the reviewers back below. Second I’d like to say our area needed a grocery store and this fits the mold perfectly. They have produce happy hour which is 15% off for those of you complaining about price. You can get decently priced produce at the least. BTW they are not copying anyone’s menu because this was a store in Manhattan beach before it even came to DTLA. They also have a friendly and happy staff. Might I suggest you add some tables out front so I can enjoy some coffee in the morning :)? The sunrise is beautiful from your store front.

I personally love this place! It’s a great local neighbor grocery store. I stopped into just to take a look and found myself indulging in the amazing samples, chatting with other shoppers and staff, listening to a jazz band that happen to be playing a few songs in the store. I purchased most of what I sampled(a bottle of Rose and Alkaline water). Parking is awesome since the have plenty of it. I’m a fan of Trader Joe’s and this has the same casual feel but better quality items. I can’t wait to go back!

Wow’ this was a real disappointment. I guess nowadays spending more money means’ get less in Trendville’ LA.(Of what use to be the Artist District) If you bother getting a sandwich don’t have high expectations, just expect mediocre bland food at high prices. The variety of Organic might catch some eyes but once u look into the products and their additives all that, simply vanishes. For those none dairy or gluten free diets, it’s slim pickings. I guess this fits the new beasts that’s sucking the life out of everything… Aka Trendies.

The produce is the best and worth the price. The homemade hummus is yummy, too. We also love how close it is to our loft. We can walk there in minutes!

Well put together. Consider this an extension of your high quality kitchen; there’s a feeling that every item is curated to be practical and elevated — bacon that’s house made, apples that are heirloom, even the radishes are kept in water. Grow helps us think about our food as an everyday investment, not just a commodity with the lowest-price mentality.

Love the store. Everyone is friendly and attentive. Great selection of all kinds of products from fresh produce, to wine, to frozen burritos and tons of other snacks. The food from the deli is great, try the meatballs and the sausage/kale soup. Things can be a buck or two more than some other places but it’s worth it for the convenience. This place is a great addition to the arts district. Thank you!

I had high hopes for the new Grow at One Santa Fe. I was expecting a grocery store but it’s is more like a convenience store. Kind of like a yummys? Not cheap either. I wish this is what the neighborhood needed but it isn’t. Can’t a girl just get a trader joes?

Very nice market. They focus on organic foods. The produce looked great. Very nice meat selection. Decent selection of prepared side dishes and a few entrees available. Nice selection of beer and a lot of wine. The staff is very friendly and service was great. I got quick service at the deli counter and register. Nice addition to the Arts District.
