I have been craving Filipino food for so loooong. I recently saw a fellow Unilocaler’s review of the City Grill and its unique set up and decided to go. This place is modest at best and unique as all get out. Once you enter, you have a buffet style serving area, side by side with a clothing«store» and a Notary. Please do not bother the person sitting at the Employee only table — seriously, what is that about anyway? I have to admit, I was shocked to see the clothing store selling scrubs and nursing uniforms. Why would they be doing that in a Filipino restaurant? :) For me, it was a solid showing, but not great. Nothing like the great food at the fun parties I use to go to when I was in college. The City Grill certainly teased my taste buds, but left me yearning for better. However, I will be the first to admit, it tickled me to see the lady that just served me working in the Notary area 15 minutes later. Now she is an old school multi-tasker for sure !

We had afternoon meetings and this was the closest place for a quick lunch and that craving for filipino food. When you walk in they have a 2 item combo with rice. Then you look to the right and there are notary services. I chose the adobo and pork cinagang. They gave a pretty big serving and the food was pretty tasty. They had a variety of dishes though that included dini-guan. The had chicharon and regular pata. It came to about $ 6. I felt it later when the heart burn from the adobo kicked in. Overall not bad though… If you use your card the minimum amount is $ 10.

Known as City Grill. Step inside and you are transported to the Pilipines. Inside is a super-combo fast food, tax service, video rental, and an international money wire transfer. Oh yeah, and don’t forget a variety of small grocery items, from spam to shrimp kracka’s. The food is weighed and the selection makes you screech for chest pain; fried fish, pork/beef skewers, chicken adobo, pancet, goat meat, and lumpia. The only thing missing is the cubed blood cubes, ala dini-guan.
