Hooray for a bar that redeems it’s location! After a poor experience at the Gallery Bar inside the Biltmore and a need for a couple more beers to properly celebrate the evening we sauntered through the gorgeous lobby of the Biltmore and walked into the awesome, albeit empty, Grand Ave. Sports Bar. This place is great, pool tables, darts(soft tip, but still okay), and free popcorn make this a better experience than anywhere else down there. Not to mention when I told our sassy waitress that it was my birthday they poured a pint of their house beer on the house! I haven’t been to a bar that even comes close to being as friendly and inexpensive as this one downtown.

They could use a better selection of beers and some food that’s more than passable.

Inside the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. We arrived to the hotel late(around 10pm). We walked around a bit downtown but realized nothing would be open in the area so we tried to find some food in the hotel. Yay! We did. Totally deserted when we got there. Really friendly waitress. A good looking menu of fried and yummy sounding bar food. But I just got the fries and onion rings which were pretty decent. Oh and a Hefeweizen of course. Kid friendly! There was a table next to us with a family and I’m sure they felt fortunate to have found the place. Since i liked the hotel, I would come back to this sports bar for some late night fries and a beer.

for what this is, it was decent. though i have never seen a sports bar so deserted. on a friday night, no less. half of the tvs were on entertainment news or something. I’m not a sports fan anyways. So seeing how staff pretty much outnumbered patrons, they were really friendly. I got fries and rings, and got two huge plates. about right for the price though. FYI, If you’re staying upstairs, they’ll charge your food to the room.

Besides being located on Grand Ave there’s nothing grand about this place. I went there for a USC game and there were maybe 15 people there. It was strangely quiet and this place is bad news for aesthetics. If you’re looking for a strong drink with a crowd who would actually complain about it… try this place out. I heard a rumor it was rated«the hottest sports bar in downtown LA.» I truly hope that is an utter lie. (albeit, there were some pretty good looking trojan fans there, so I might actually go back…)
