Although the latter cation is pretty ghetto and I have no idea how they managed to get an A on the health inspection report, I’ve eaten here 3 times and the food’s always been perfect — very meat heavy menu so not that many options for me — but if it’s Salvadorian comfort food you’re looking for, this is s safe bet … I’ve always been the only non Central American in there !!

Want some great(Monday or Friday) $ 1 pupusas then this is the place to be. Been growing up coming here(25+ yrs) and it hasn’t lost touch at all. Don’t be surprise if it’s very busy but it’s worth the wait also. I would come with huge orders(that’s how good it is)!!!

Warning: Rating based only on 1 food item ITSALLABOUTTHEPUPUSASBABY!!! This is one of the only places you can get really yummy pupusas for ridically cheap prices. Tip: Monday & Fridays are 1dollar plus tax! A steal I tell you for the size and quality of these what I refer to as «Salvadorian pancakes» that are a good fill you up when you are hungry. These pupusas are masa filled with choices of cheese, bean, chicharron, etc and placed on the griddle to cook. Though the place and location is not all that great, I still recommend it just order it TO — GO!

i go to school across the street at LACC. i could very easily come down on this place hard just like i do many of the other joints in the area… but i can’t do that here. the food is damn good here. i’ve been eating it several times a week for years now. don’t be put off if folks aren’t all bubbly with you… that’s just how they are, but thy’re good people. the owner works there & the food is well-made. you can get fresh-squeezed juice… there are crazily affordable special every day of the week… this is the spot!

Pupusas, where have you been all my life? Not having grown up around Latin/South American culture, I was blissfully unaware of the culinary delights of these Salvadorian delicacies. For those who do not know, pupusas are made of a slice of heaven, er, I mean, masa de maíz [maíz flour] formed into a flatbread with Quesillo cheese [a white, light Salvadorian cheese] and a variety of other potential ingredients: frijoles refritos [refried beans], Salvadorian chicharrón [ground, fried pork] or buds from the loroco plant [tastes similar to Swiss chard]. Not much thought was put into the interior design — booths + sticky tables abound. The staff are helpful + friendly. Being one of the few Asians in a predominantly Latino neighborhood, I often get looks when I go in there. One gentleman stared at me the ENTIRE time I waited for my pupusas. It is located in a densely-packed part of Westlake’s 6th Street, making parking difficult. Usually I have a friend park in the nearby Food for Less lot and wait in the car while I get the food. For a restaurant experience, I would not recommend this spot. But if you crave pupusas or want them on a large scale at your next staff event, GdF is amazing.
