I have been going here for while I really enjoy the food, UNTIL I found hair in my food not just 1 but 2! I wasn’t even able to get a refund. I suggest go somewhere else unless you like strangers hairs in your food.

Very Clean place, Very Modern… the food was amazing actually. A lot of flavor, a little spicy. Most Mongolian places are usually pretty good. I don’t know why people would give a bad review they actually sound like they’re trolling. People always think every experience is supposed to be flawless. Unless there’s an absolute reason to give a bad review you idiots should not do that. I read some of these reviews and wow just sad to do that. My friend brought me here for the first time last week. I just came here by myself to get it again but it’s Easter and they’re closed. If anyone has issues with the food or experience they should handle it right then and there with the managers/owners. I would never not say anything then go and blast them on Unilocal!Get a life you spoiled brats. The Glendale galleria used to have one and now Vegas buffet has one. This is my new spot I dig it!

I wasn’t feeling this place at all… the bowls are way too small. I stacked on the meat and it somehow disappeared after they cooked it. They asked me twice if I had noodles out steamed rice I told them twice it was steamed rice and I somehow ended up with noodles. I would’ve returned it but I had already waited 30 minutes for my food. The food is also very bland with no flavor.

This place is pretty good I don’t think there’s anything special about their combos because there really isn’t a discount per se but it’s good regardless. You only serve yourself the meat and vegetables they serve you the noodles which I kind of prefer because it always ends up spilling over. Clean your hands and get ready to smash some food into the bowl with your fist. Get fisted !

Place looks awesome! Super clean, first impression was great! Service waa amazing! Definitely different service from other mongolian places considering that you don’t have to pour your plate with noodles, they do it for you! Food was to a perfect taste

Food is awesome! Everything is clean, fresh & there’s a variety of veggies to add to your meal. I usually pay $ 2 more for extra noodles & that’s usually enough for myself & my two kids. Not only is the food great, but their customer service goes above and beyond! I stopped by on a Friday afternoon & forgot my expensive sunglasses on the table. I sent them a message on FB and heard back from them the next morning saying that they had found them! After that, I’m a loyal customer for sure!

Super good noodles. You get to build your own noodle bowl and they cook it in front of you. The atmosphere could use a little work, but the food is quick, cheap and great.

I’ve come to eat at this place from time to time and it might not be the best place but I would say that it’s really tasty and the people or the workers of you ask them for anything they give it to you. Try this place good stuff

Came here for the first time. The guy that helped us was extremely friendly and explained how everything works. Only thing I didn’t like was that there was a small selection. But this place is close and convenient.

Absolutely horrible! Came here for dinner last night and this place is a typical«Fast-Food» Type of Mongolian BBQ. The selection was limited, and overpriced $ 11 for one tiny meal. The food was below average tasting. The noodles were not cooked thoroughly in my opinion. The chicken was stale … even after being cooked. The food got me and my boyfriend sick and nasty feeling. Never again!

Since«Mongolian bbq» is neither Mongolian nor bbq, this type of food is kinda«meh» for me already, and the small bowl for the goodies requires some thought so you don’t end up with just a bunch of noodles or rice with just a little bit of the more substantial ingredients, which tend to shrink a bunch when cooked and take up room when you add them. I suggest you stick with the meat of your choice, some mushrooms, scallions, cilantro, garlic, and just a bit of the hot chili oil, that’s it. The mango/habanero sauce is pretty lame, house is your best bet. The quality of the ingredients is OK and the noodles and rice are generous, but it’s kind of weird that even if you opt to eat in your food is served in a Styrofoam box… Tastes OK and is kind of cheap, but nothing spectacular, just another place to eat in Eagle Rock. The noodle place next door is much better…

It was just ok. I probably would not go back because they dont have a big veggie selection or real sriacha sauce(the bottle had something else inside).

Had a late dinner craving for some Mongolian BBQ and searched Unilocal for the closest one thinking I’d end up having to drive out some distance and go out of my way. Then this place popped up at the top. Wuuut? There’s a Mongolian BBQ in Eagle Rock?! Let’s give it a shot. It was only a 10 min. drive cross-town and I made it within an hour of them closing. So I understand they opened up around February 2015 as the cashier/waitress pointed out the valentine-ish décor. This place was a little different than other Mongolian BBQ spots I’ve been too. Normally, you would get your bowl, fill it with your meat, veggies, and noodles then top it off with your sauces and add your spices/condiments or whatever, then have the chef cook it up. Golden Forest simplifies this process a bit for you… You * Noodles or Rice(never had an option for rice before but I stayed with noodles) * Pick 1 of 4 sauce flavors(House Special, Teriyaki, Mango Habanero, and Sriracha) * Add/Pile on your ingredients(meats, veggies) Them * They GENEROUSLY add the noodles or rice to your ingredients and cook it up. You * EAT to your heart’s content for $ 7.99 with plenty of condiments to use. Not bad at all. It’s a clean setup. I say this because I’ve seen people go nuts at these types of places literally piling on a mountain of ingredients/noodles in their bowls and making a mess. To me, it looks like pig slop and unappetizing sometimes. But the presentation and quality of this place is one of the better ones I’ve seen and been to. The end result was a very satisfying late dinner at a very reasonable price deserving of a full 5 stars in my book. Looks like I found a new local spot for Mongolian BBQ. Definitely will be coming back here again.

Just okay. The meat is tough and hard to chew. Noodles with Teriyaki sauce was good. Would I return? Probably not.

I missed the Golden Forest BBQ logo as all I noticed from the front were the words«Mongolian BBQ.» There seems to be a disconnect of front sign to the actual name of the restaurant. For $ 7.99, it is a decent deal for a medium sized bowl although they really get you with the curled frozen meat that takes up a considerable amount of space. The next time I come here, I would stack some vegetables in the small bowl that they give you first, then lay the meat on top as the frozen meat takes up much of the real estate, then lay some more vegetables on top of that to fill all the crevices. It is a very typical Mongolian Beef place as you get to choose all your toppings. They were really generous with the noodles(added to your bowl of ingredients when you take it to a chef.) I couldn’t understand what the chef was trying to tell me about the sauces, but when I heard spicy, I immediately said yes.

What a great new Mongolian BBQ place in Eagle Rock! Clean restaurant, fresh ingredients, and yummy BBQ. I’m in love. Here’s how it works: you order a bowl, you choose your ingredients(meat and veggies), you give your bowl to the staff, the staff grill your ingredients along with noodles and sauce, and then the staff hands you your piping hot bowl in a handy to-go box. First up: the meat. You have a choice of pork, chicken, lean beef, and beef. Each type of meat has a well-labeled set of tongs to help you pile it up high in your bowl. The meat looks nice & fresh. I added pork, chicken, and lean beef to my bowl(they were all yummy). Next: your veggies. There are several to choose from. I added bean sprouts, jalapeños, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and chopped garlic to my bowl. The grill: it was fun to watch the staff grill up my food. Before they take your bowl, they ask whether you would like the half & half sauce or teriyaki sauce. I chose teriyaki. The result: pure deliciousness!!! Good to know: The food is relatively cheap. I paid $ 8.71 for my bowl(plus tax). Considering how much meat I packed in there, and how much noodles came with my bowl, this place is a bargain.

After years of neglect, Eagle Rock finally has its own Mongolian BBQ place. Situated in the expanded portion of the Vons parking lot on Figueroa(just south of Colorado), the Golden Forest chain’s expansion was greeted with a line of curious customers on a Tuesday night. The dining room has plenty of tables for groups of 2 or 4. You are met at the front by a pleasant cashier who takes your order($ 7.99 for their bowl), which may or may not include a beverage and egg rolls. Beyond her is the queue for trays and bowls to ladle in beef(lean or marbled), chicken, or pork. No lamb in sight, which was disappointing, but I digress. The selection of items for Mongolian BBQ is really what sets different restaurants apart. They had sliced bell peppers, bean sprouts, pineapple, celery, julienned carrots, spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, and a few others including an «Asian stir fry» mix at the end for people in a rush. Note that this is where you may not notice the garlic in a small bowl at the end. Do not forget the garlic. It might have been nice to see the garlic more clearly labeled, come to think of it. Where are the noodles? They do something interesting here where they give you an apportioned amount of noodles at the end. This was fine by me, since noodles really aren’t the star of the show. The cook on duty asked, «Teriyaki or Spicy?» I chose Spicy, but their version of Spicy must be dialed down A LOT, because I could barely taste the spicy and had to add Sriracha sauce and hot chili oil at the end to make it spicy enough to notice. Incidentally, the curious absence of serrano or jalapeño peppers in the vegetable area was noticed. If the owner reads this post, please consider adding jalapeño or serrano peppers. It’s Northeast L.A. and we can handle it. The restaurant is only a week into operation and we expected some hiccoughs. For $ 7.99 a bowl it is a pretty good deal, but it was hard to ignore the problem with the underdone noodles. Let me explain: when you put undercooked noodles on a hot stone with oil, the noodles cook but become rubbery as they soak in the oil. This made for chewy, greasy noodles. On the positive side: The vegetables and meat were perfect, though, but as mentioned earlier under spiced for Spicy. I told the gentleman behind the stone, «Spicy and just go for it!» He looked harried and his boss jumped in to help, but by then he may have forgotten my request. Also the balance of noodles to everything else was off. If the amount of noodles is standardized, I think I’ll ask for less noodles to be added the next time around. The other person dining with me agreed; back off the quantity of noodles and let them cook a few minutes longer before tossing them on the stone. Also, there really wasn’t anyone around to wipe off the tables. There should be someone alternating with the cashier or perhaps the cashier herself(when she or he is not occupied) helping to towel off the tables when people finished. The service was otherwise pleasant and polite. We enjoyed our meals and appreciated the owner/manager’s offer of egg rolls for diners because of the obvious problem with the noodles. Restaurants don’t just emerge ready to go on Day One or Week One and take time to develop a routine; to get into the groove, if you will. I will be back next few weeks with friends to update my review.
